J-Law probably one of the most talented riders I have ever seen... What a shame to think what could have been... He could have had one of the greatest AMA careers if a few things just went different for him!
J-Law was an uneducated brain dead moron. His dad failed at raising him in so many ways. He didn't have any critical thinking skills at all he didn't know good from bad.
@Stoffels338 i never really saw the big deal with Jason Lawrence. Most people think hes legendary for his rebel drug addict personality. Where are the super talented moments?
its crazy watching this back and seeing how many mistakes dungey made. he went from crashing pretty much every race to being one of the most efficient and consistant riders in the history of the sport.
"The Prodigy" I hadn't heard that one. I suppose there were many people let down by that name over the years. I mean, what big shoes to fill. But, just look at him today. A near perfect rider!
@@KimLongShlong that's so unfair, because people like Dhngey had the moral character and fortitude to stay the path and work his a*s off everyday year after year striving for his place, and JLaw didn't have what it took on the inside to do all the things one needs to do do to be a great. But he could have been. Well, you could have been President, but I haven't seen your name on the ballot.
What’s sad is he could have been a great rider. Dungey learned from his mistakes and became a multi time champion who’ll always be remembered. JLaw fell off the map, and will be remembered for what might have been. High strung talkers don’t seem to last long in this sport.
The difference wasn't in talent. Lawrence had every bit as much skill as Dungey, maybe even more. But Dungey is now a legend and multi time sx and mx champion. Need to make good decisions and surround yourself with positive influences when youre young. One had that and the other one didn't.
I used to hate lining up with Tommy Hahn we would have to line up with the pro class guy cooper Robbie Reynard johnny Marley I grew up racing in Oklahoma when there was a state race most tracks didn't have lights well anywho there would be over 4000 bikes racing so they would line us up with the pros that kid was phenomenal.
He was one of those people who was incredibly talented, but troubled. Drugs got the best of him I'm pretty sure, and he's disappeared for the most part over then some videos he's released online of him riding. He probably had some of the most raw potential of anyone, but lacked the drive and determination to stick through it when things weren't going his way. I could be wrong, but jail messed him up the most.
@zacharyradford5552 you just replied to a comment from 6yrs ago seems like you're bitter. JLaw is about to race Arenacross and Dumgey is an 8x AMA Champion. Yeah JLaw 's killing it
Bikes now are way too powerful for Supercross they need a 125 two-stroke class for Supercross and they should maybe do a restrictor plate that they placed on the 250s and 450s to make racing more interesting. And yeah Jlaw pretty sad deal in my opinion he may not been the best person as far as like how he talks to people but he could’ve been one of the greatest racers and had longevity.
Bikes are to powerful 🤔 Holy crap I think your the first dude in history to want less power and performance. Who tf puts a restrictedr plate on a motocross bike and who wants all the bikes to run the same bland de-tuned set up ???
No he didnt, just because they were roommates and friends doesnt mean anything. Josh breaking his leg trying to learn how to backflip was definitely the biggest thing to negatively affect his career. When he did finally come back he actually rode really well and experienced some more success.
You can't blame jlaw for that. Hill wasn't what the media portrayed him as. Also remember that stroup and nico izzi were also on the same path. It was a dark period in the sport, teams are more supportive of their riders off the track now, and riders have a more career based attitude.
If that was Dungeys final year of his contract, they would have dumped him. Dungey goes on to become one of the goats, and Lawrence went on to be a junkie .
Who used to design these tracks? Seem a lot better than the current dirt wurx tracks.
I was seriously just thinking that
I was thinking that too
Exactly what i was thinking
This year a lot of riders had designed them.

JMB, Reyanard, Windham, Pourcel, Stew, Jett. A few ways to win, but a lot of ways to lose.

J law 💯
Pretty cool to see Osbourne all the way back then win a championship now.
From least consistent to most consistent likely with Lawrence's head games as a factor.
Stacked class

It wasn’t because of a fall off on skill he raced one 450 SX and finished second. He kept getting in trouble with the law fighting, drinking, drugs.
Tracks were way better
Jesus I forgot how loud the bikes used to be

So good to see Dungey sweat, and make all those mistakes.
These tracks though
This was Dungey's aggressive riding year.

Who knew JL would take it to heart when they said racers crank it up!

J-Law. 😮
I'm glad I never did or didn't do anything at a young age that I regretted later on.

Josh Hill did a podcast talking about this. In his own words, he partied with J-Law but didn't do the drugs nor weed, but was guilty by association.
