Chad you have a great smooth way of playing I bet your Father is very proud of you. I enjoyed the story about you and your father looking at the first GB10 you saw. Good luck Chad.
What a great review. Instrument Information and personal suggestions and views. Really learned a lot about the history and life of the guitar. well done sir !
I've been a huge George Benson fan for many years. Chad, I'm glad I found you're channel. I look forward to learning some of George's incredible licks and techniques from you. You're an amazing guitarist and you're videos are well done. Subscribed...
It seems that the guitar in the majority of the video is not a current (Aug 2020) production model. The opening shows a current model, but then switches to an older instrument after the GB segment without any notice. The specs described as far as fingerboard, inlays, tailpiece, bridge are correct for the guitar shown but not for the current model. The longevity of the model in production is very gratifying, it shows how truly wonderful the original design and concept were. But please add something to note that the description of the guitar in the bulk of the video does not correspond to current production specs. In any case, Chad--you're a gifted player with a lot of heart and soul, thank you for becoming the fine musician you are.
Hey Chad, you're the man .Because of watching this video in particular I pulled the trigger and now I'm the proud owner of a spanking brand new GB 10 and it's a awesome guitar .I have previously a owned Gibson 175 .This guitar is still in its own right very well built beautiful piece of artwork with a beautiful tone and incredible action.I started playing right out the box and this axe is highly addictive .By the way your an excellent player as well .Take care and play on .
Hi Chad, Thank you for the story about your GB 10, and also for breaking down some of George maestrio in one your other video. I'm referring to some of what He played in that Montreal concert (take five!) Your are an amazing player yourself! Congratulations :)
Monster playing Sir. Great video on a great Jazz guitar. George is a fenom and you seem to have captured that smooth style. Keep up that playing. I think I'm gonna get my son this guitar. Yes he is also a jazz guitar player. No where near your ability as of yet. But in time I believe he will get there. Thanks for the break down of this bomb guitar. I truly know very little about guitar. I actually play 6 string bass. Again. Thank you Sir.
Great job Chad ... really doing justice to this phenomenal guitar ... great playing & really well researched details & infos - BRAVO 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'm a proud owner of a GB10 in natural finish (from 1990), bought it from a friend in the late 90ies and have used it ever since. Love it for exactly all the reasons, you pointed out ❣️ All the best & keep up the good work 🤗 Roland 🎸
Great review! However, it’s not simulated wear on the back of the neck, just a sunburst finish. Always loved the GB model... and you play it very well!
Chad: Thank you for an excellent review. I appreciated your articulate detail of the instrument, and your experience with it. I also enjoyed hearing about your trip to the guitar shop with your Dad - reminded me of the many trips that I've taken with my sons. Great memories. You have excellent technique and tone. I look forward to your other reviews. Thank you and wishing you a happy and healthy Happy New Year!
Great video. Incredible playing! Wow!! I tried one years ago in a music shop but it didn't grab me. If I could do one justice playing-wise [as demonstrated brilliantly here], I'd get one rather soon.
Great video and playing, man! I played one of these in blonde, at my local Sam Ash. I was blown away. It was reduced to $1,300, but the binding was all deteriorating. I had to pass, but I regret that.
How awesome is this review?? Although I like the GB10, the PM200 is my favorite. Currently playing an AS200 which I love too. Ibanez jazz boxes are the best.
I have one made in 2002 it's a must have if you love jazz and blues; For the amps I use a Deluxe Reverb tone master and a Shertler (same as Acus) amp for acoustic. I have never experienced feedback issues during live gigs or at home
Speaking as a Professional Amateur Guitarist, this was the best guitar review I have come across. I have an expensive Ibanez hollow body and dream of one day getting my money's worth to make it sound as good as that, but I'm just too lazy to get there.
I have one of these and also the Ibanez John Scofield JSM100. I would say these are the two best jazz guitars I have. Even when compared to guitars double their price.
I think is was designed 1977 …. Right after the release of BREEZIN’ .. in 1976 If you might notice…. On the INFLIGHT album , (which came out in 1977) GEORGE BENSON is photographed with IBANEZ GB10
Somehow the Ibanez semi hollows don't get a lot of recognition. I just got a mid priced artcore and damn it plays and sounds awesome. Good bang for the buck
I own a GB10SE that some might look down on as its made in China but its exactly the same spec and woods as the Japanese ones apart from the neck has "artstar " treatment the japan one has "prestige"...and its after a couple of years or so of playing in is becoming a real nice guitar.....its very well made with no quality control issues...its got the most lovely jet black ebony fingerboard ..i paid about 900 English pounds for it which to some would be crazy madness type money for a "import" Chinese guitar....but the entire of the £900 has gone into making a flawless instrument that if looked after will last a lifetime it even came in the same case as the Japanese one ... If you were buying a gibson equivalent of similar quality (i can only think of a 175 and thats a far more basic plain guitar) you would be talking big money maybe 2-3 K at least .my mates got a Japan made early 80s GB10 and apart from nearly 40 years of "playing in" its had playing in smokey bars when smoking was legal in pubs lol quality wise he was so impressed (the guy owns some pretty high end Jazz boxes as he is semi pro and pretty well heeled and apart from being a fantastic player also very knowledgeable with a good ear ...the only criticism he had is it feels a bit too new and the finish whilst flawless is almost too flawless due to not been nitro ..although his GB10 has a poly finish too ) he went out and bought a GB10SE to save anymore wear and tear gigging the GB10 and as backup this video is one of the best Ibanez GB10/GB10SE type reviews ....Fantastic guitars and so pretty...given the fact that that im a normally a fender stat/gibson les paul junior player i feel like a right flash fucker when i use it for my very bad Joe Pass impression lol This video is great and so is the playing on it
Nice playing, nice review. You've got some amazing speed and note definition, while still keeping it soulful; no small feat. You're making me want to replace my es-335 with one of these, love how they are between a hollow and semi-hollow in size. This would be a guitar I would't feel the need to upgrade or tinker with. George would be proud to see this review, no doubt '
Excellent review and great story and background, plus you communicate very well on the guitar, too. Thanks for the production. Had a LGB30 delivered yesterday, it is my first Jazz box. I am presently enrolled in lessons locally with a good instructor and Jazz aficionado. Hope to enjoy future videos on channel, please keep up the good work.
Ok, I purchased a barely used 2023 model of the GB10SE (an Indonesian made one but the same model) The action was a bit high when I looked at it, but the dealer said they didn’t have anyone that could adjust it, so I trusted that all it needed was to have the action lowered…big mistake. This thing has a slight neck back bow that prevents it from having the strings lowered to a decent playable height. Well, the dealer would not accept a return on it because it had been altered (a guitar tech lowered the bridge in an attempt to make it playable) and Ibanez says it’s not under warranty because I’m not the original owner!!!! I have taken it to two other guitar techs who both claim it should have never left the factory like this. One went on to say that this had to have been made like this. He did say it could be repaired but a neck removal would be required and it would be very expensive!! So, I am stuck with an unplayable guitar that is less than a year old!! It’s absolute garbage!! This will give you all an idea the Ibanez doesn’t care how crappy their guitars are that are coming out of their Indonesian factory, and they don’t give a shit about their customers. Spend the extra money and BUT AN EASTMAN!
I have a GB10EM, which is the Indo budget version that Ibanez released recently. But it's amazing. Sounds great, plays great. I put it into my Quilter MicroPro and it sounded fantastic.
Chad,I saw Benson here in Vegas ,and he had scotch tape over the F holes. I think it was to stop the feedback. You couldn't tell until you got right up on him.Maybe that would stop your feedback problem. he was using his fender twin model, which does get kind of loud.
The fancy tailpiece is designed to change the download on the soundboard, giving some mechanical control of feedback (what do you do when something starts to squeal, you grab it and squeeze). this allows some control of the amplitude of the vibration.
Hi Chad, excellent review, like it! Currently I am in a stage of buying a jazz guitar, looking for awarm mellow tone of classic jazz (of course :-), not rock. My candidates are Ibanez LGB30 and Epiphone Emperor II Pro, both fitting my budget. Ibanez is the favourite. Do you have any experience with both? And could you please compare to GB10? Thanks a lot, Peter.
I really "dig", in appropriate jazz-lingo, your dark quicksilver fingers dancing along that neck. Though, I am rather envious of how long and elegant your fingers are compared to my short, pale, sausages!
I bought a GB10 about a month ago and I love it! I was using an Epiphone Sheraton (ES-335 type guitar) with .012 flatwounds for my jazz gigs, but I had my eye on the GB10 for a good while. I had a Gibson L5 several decades ago, but those kind of guitars are too big for a little guy like me (I'm 5'5") , not to mention the feedback problem. But speaking of string gauge... did you have to widen the nut slots to accommodate the .015 strings? As you know, it comes with .011s and I'd like to go one gauge thicker, but I was concerned about that. BTW, just those little snippets demonstrate that you're a great guitar player; I'm definitely going to check out your other videos!
I just picked up a used G 10em my first to learn from n I run it thru a Bose L1 model 1 it has built in feedback cancellation n I have have that issue not even on acoustic guitars.

Great hands, great fingers.. they move perfectly across the instrument..
this is one of the best guitar demo that I've seen.
Great review.... been playing Ibanez guitars since 76' and still playing their guitars today. Check out the Ibanez AM series.
Chad you have a great smooth way of playing I bet your Father is very proud of you. I enjoyed the story about you and your father looking at the first GB10 you saw.
Good luck Chad.
I like your easy going style fella, a pleasure to watch
Great review really professional stuff man (plus great playing!)
Damn, man! Amazing playing and a great review.
This is an excellent presentation. You sound fantastic, Chad 👏👏👏👏
What a great review. Instrument Information and personal suggestions and views. Really learned a lot about the history and life of the guitar. well done sir !
Great review and playing thanks

Fantastic Review Chad! Thank - you!
Great playing and awesome tutorial 👏🏻👍🏻💪🏻🙏🏻🥇🏆💯
Good review & some nice runs/octave playing , thanks 👍
Inspired playing. You make me want to get a GB guitar !!!! Thank you sir
Thanks so much for getting back to me I have not been able to find an answer and you’ve helped and a lot
Giant Steps at the beginning sounded fucking sick
Magic introduction to this awesome guitar. An icon....awesome. Stay safe and take care about you ....crazy times😷
I have one. I LOVE it! It was genius for GB to come up with this design. I hope I can make it sound like you do, someday!
Fantastic review Chad! Thanks! very helpful.
Hey Chad, I did the math & sure enough, I was working at McCabes when you first came in. Great to finally hear you. Peace T.
Hi Chad,
Thank you for the story about your GB 10, and also for breaking down some of George maestrio in one your other video. I'm referring to some of what He played in that Montreal concert (take five!)
Your are an amazing player yourself! Congratulations :)
You've got "good hands" as in a great tone and excellent controll of how you want to sound!!! My compliments!!!
Monster playing Sir. Great video on a great Jazz guitar. George is a fenom and you seem to have captured that smooth style. Keep up that playing. I think I'm gonna get my son this guitar. Thanks for the break down of this bomb guitar. I truly know very little about guitar. I actually play 6 string bass. Again. Thank you Sir.
Fine demo and great playing with a great guitar. I have a pristine '88 and love it.
I hope yours got a cleaning and new frets since. ; -)
Fantastic introduction and discussion, Chad. Just brilliant, cool playing, yes, and very informative. Thank you!
Wonderful review. I would also recommend custom F hole covers to deal with feedback issues. Thanks.

Great review and very impressive playing!
Great review! l played that guitar today first time ever and I’m getting one for sure, in natural… also, you’re playing is stunning!
this is an incredible review. very unique
Actually 1977 is the start date for the GB10. I have the 38th off the line. 1977, also have a 78 model. My favorite too.... Love G.
Great video. Incredible playing! Wow!!
I tried one years ago in a music shop but it didn't grab me. If I could do one justice playing-wise [as demonstrated brilliantly here], I'd get one rather soon.
Fantastic chops Chad. Benson is my inspiration. He plays the tastiest licks and solos in music. He is among the top five of all times on my list.
Great review and playing!
Beautiful guitar and playing. Fantastic review, thanks! 👍
I got a gb10em
Great video and playing, man!
I played one of these in blonde, at my local Sam Ash. I was blown away. It was reduced to $1,300, but the binding was all deteriorating. I had to pass, but I regret that.
Great Review :-) and nice playing !!
Wonderful playing, great talent man. I have a GB 10, forgot the year, I think it’s a 1986. Anyway thank you for the video and the playing.
Love this guitar for a long time and wish to get one for a long time.
Awesome video. This is network-TV quality work, thanks!
How awesome is this review?? Although I like the GB10, the PM200 is my favorite. Currently playing an AS200 which I love too. Ibanez jazz boxes are the best.
AS200 ---> Mesa Boogie Lonestar 100 = happiness
Great Demo my Man!!!!
Nicely done
Really cool video, and very informative.
Thanks for the honest review.
You have a great sound.
I have one made in 2002 it's a must have if you love jazz and blues; For the amps I use a Deluxe Reverb tone master and a Shertler (same as Acus) amp for acoustic. I have never experienced feedback issues during live gigs or at home
What a great player! The sound is great!
You're a great player, Chad! You would do justice to any guitar. Thanks for the review! I have one and love it!
beautiful guitar, george is a real inspiration
I have a 1981 in mint condition but I rarely use it. I've had many guitars in my time but these really are a crafted work of art.
Your music is dope. I'm checking you out on Spotify now. "Brainchild" is tough.
Speaking as a Professional Amateur Guitarist, this was the best guitar review I have come across. I have an expensive Ibanez hollow body and dream of one day getting my money's worth to make it sound as good as that, but I'm just too lazy to get there.

Sweet intro. You got my ear, now and "for ever and ever. Amen" :^)
Great playing dude!!!

Gorgeous playing Chad! And a fine review of a fabulous instrument!
Great review!
I regret that I sold my GB10 back in 1999. I will get another one...
Nice playing, nice review. You've got some amazing speed and note definition, while still keeping it soulful; no small feat. What song is playing in the background from 08:55? Reminds me of Al di Meola’s Turquoise but definitely with a smooth jazz quality. Stunning piece👌🏾
You are great, montgomery chops!
the best review ever, thanks for sharing !!!

Is that bridge floating? Thanks for the review!
Feedback technology exist. Piezo on the low with some techniues like taping the F hold with plastic but yes that would help!
Why is the bridge pickup slightly slanted and not totally perpendicular to the strings?
How is it with blues?
What is this "feedback cancellation technology in the electronics" that he would add in his ideal guitar, mentioned at the end?
Oh yeah, Chad !!! You can REALLY play !
men you made me love the GB10 more!🤘
Thank you!
I really "dig", in appropriate jazz-lingo, your dark quicksilver fingers dancing along that neck. Though, I am rather envious of how long and elegant your fingers are compared to my short, pale, sausages!
Great sound and playing! Which kind of pick do you use?Dunlop jazz3?
Great guitar playing.
I have a GB10SE
What is going on with the neck joint...? It looks huge and clumsy. Also what does it sound like with an overdrive box like a Tube Screamer?
I bought a GB10 about a month ago and I love it! I was using an Epiphone Sheraton (ES-335 type guitar) with .012 flatwounds for my jazz gigs, but I had my eye on the GB10 for a good while. Well dang, that was great!
I just picked up a used G 10em my first to learn from n I run it thru a Bose L1 model 1 it has built in feedback cancellation n I have have that issue not even on acoustic guitars.
Oh I sub to learn from you 💕☮️
god tier player and a guitar I will own one day
Hi Chad, what do think of the Chinese versions?
Hi Chad. All is well, how are you? How do you compare the GB 10 versus the GB 10 SE? Thanks
Man nice box. So who's track on your video?
Yeh …. You’re right about the GB10 can be used for playing jazz over R&B
NORMAN BROWN’s first few albums were recorded playing an IBANEZ GB10NT
