  • With the forecast calling for rain this weekend, and the paving crews wrapped up for the week, we thought it would be best to answer the one question we are getting most right now, is it slippery, especially when wet? The answer surprised all of us. Thank you TDOT and all crew and officers involved in this project. We hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and stays safe wherever you are.

    I can't comment on the top layer, but the initial patchwork layer was what I would describe as "surprisingly confidence inspiring."
    Thank goodness the potholes and sunken sections are gone!
    Excellent camera work!

    Those drop-offs are no joke! Not only do we need to stay in our lane, we need to stay on the road! Looks like less pavement to the right of the mayo too.

    Something worth noting, both new and old asphalt offer sub optimal grip, there's a sweet spot in there where the aggregate is only a little exposed, allowing the greatest surface area available for the tires to bite. That could be why traction levels are so similar, and we may discover the road to be significantly gripper than the old surface in a year or two. Hopefully leads to a welcome reduction in accidents.

    gonna be so strange without the potholes into gravity (northbound) .. nice, but strange. I guess that means they filled in "austin's hole" :D

    It probably won't beat the old asphalt that was light in color and had the glass-looking "sparkles". That stuff was like glue.

    I was up there today riding my new MT-09 SP with JR. My stock S22 tires were chattering in places south of gravity cavity but I blame the crappy tires more than anything. JR was riding his new Husky 701 and he felt same chattering in his tires but same deal, stock street tires. the Michelin power cup 2's we normally run would suffice on it now I believe. I was sitting there in front of porch at Gap store when you drove up to your store. Sweet Porsche!

    Thanks for the update! random question. Do you like GoPro or the Insta360 X3 camera better (if you have the X3) ? Which software is easier for a new/young person ?(my son is interested)

    • @killboydotcom
      @killboydotcom  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Tough call, just depends on the use case. The x3 is more delicate with the lenses bulging out and not replaceable. You can get covers, but they cause glares and other issues, but you can't beat the flexibility it gives you. Always requires some post processing/editing though to get decent footage. Gopros are just dead simple, can use the footage straight from the camera if you start/stop smart, but have to get it setup and aimed more particularly than 360 cams.

    I'm far more risk averse than you 🙄. I don't feel comfortable doing much over the speed limit when it has rained .

    What is the overlay used on the outside view on the roof window?

    • @killboydotcom
      @killboydotcom  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's done using the Insta360 X3 or X4 when paired with their wireless remote for those cameras. The remote has GPS sensor and records telemetry that can be overlaid onto the video the camera captures using their software. You can choose which parts of the overlay you want to use, the placement, size, color, etc.
