    The 'message' behind part 3 being a repeat of what happened in part 2 effectively is the premise of the entire album: Pain Remains. Pain prevailed and grief consumed him.
    He survived what happened in part 2 because the wounds weren't lethal. Not to get graphic/blunt but cutting your wrists isn't a reliable way to kick the bucket yourself. You're more likely to survive with nerve damage than actually succeed. Media/fiction has romanticized it and make it out to be like you're "bleeding the very life out of yourself for the one you love" or whatever poetic way you want to try to phrase it. There's nothing actually romantic about it in real life though, in my opinion.
    I don't think we're meant to 'like' the message per se but it's meant to make you feel something - whatever that might be. It's like the end of Part 1. If you watch reactors they all unanimously react in a similar fashion - anger, frustration, disbelief, confusion. All of those reactions/emotions would be the very same (albeit to a much greater scale) if it happened to you and a loved one died just like that song ended - in a blink of an eye.
    The way you reacted at the end when he, to quote you, betrayed his family by burning the house down and himself remaining in the house - I think that's along the lines of what they were going for. You seemed bitter, angry even, that someone could possibly do that. You felt something, whatever it may be. A testament to how incredible the songs are and how powerful music can be.
    In the end, I think we were all rooting for him.
    Sometimes people don't make it though.
    "A world without you isn't meant for me."

      Very good thoughts man, and I feel like the genius in the way this trilogy is constructed is that you get to KNOW the characters in a sense, as you see what happens to them. The constant alternation between images of the past and the tragedy of the present makes you see our fallen hero as a fulfilled human, and it makes you feel happy for him (both of then actually). Jeez, you get a better sense of understanding of who these people are than you get from actual movies these days, and it's almost like you know them by the end! And that's what makes it so impactful when they go down (especially him, since he didn't have to)! I think you can't deal with a topic like this if you can't treat it seriously and I feel like just throwing cliches about how life is worth living won't do much for anyone. Such art instead doesn't try to tell you what to believe. It just shows you what happens when people go down that path and makes you experience first hand a microcosm of what that would be like... an insight we could all use to prepare for the coming storms of life (especially someone young like me who hasn't experienced any real loss yet... holy shit am I in for a rough ride). Take care of yourself man and thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated! Cheers! / George

    I don't know if someone has already said it on these comments (or already on any comments section of other reactions) but I believe the major point in showing this tragedy is to people try to wear his shoes. Sometimes people don't make it through and it's common that it's portrayed as weakness, but no one knows how much pain he feels, how hard is to bear, only him. I, of course, completely agree that what he made is not the good solution, but part of helping people in this deep grief is to understand how hard is to bear. I think is so cruel (yet understandable) to blame or feel anger of someone who decided quit life because didn't bear the grief... It's like it was supposed you're only a good human if you're the strongest, the survivor, yada yada. I believe Lorna Shore did so great showing that in the end we are all humans and being weak sometimes is part of the human being.
    We need to take this conversation to the level of "it's ok if you feel, if you are weak" more than "it's so nice you're strong and hold onto this all". Sometimes it is exactly what makes people on this feeling of "ok I'm weak I can't handle it anymore" to go ahead to the point of no return. You were completely right specially when you said he needed support, he needed help, he was weak and grieving, but who are we to say anyone is weak for not handle everything alone? Sometimes we just really understand when it happens to us.
    Sorry if my words seem to be harsh, it was not the point, it's just because it's really a sensitive topic for me. I wanted to show the vision of someone who frequently thinks about giving up and feel even worse when it's treated as weakness or simply egoism.
    Thank you so much for your reactions, I really appreciate your job and to see how you are so kind heart guys. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Be safe, keep it up!

    • @thewindmillfullovcorpses
      @thewindmillfullovcorpses  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I think I understand your perspective, I agree with parts and not with others. I'm fully on board that trying to listen and understand is the thing to do when trying to help someone. But I'd back pedal on the whole "it's ok if you feel weak" direction to the conversation, and instead just not make any judgement calls as to where the conversation should be headed. None of us are experts on this and if we want to help someone out, we should probably start by not assuming that we know what the other person needs. One may find his way out through comfort, another through encouragement. / George

    I find myself watching a lot of reactions to this trilogy lately, and I really, especially appreciated both of yours as well as the really thoughtful breakdowns of not only the music, but also the visuals and themes.
    I lost my best friend in 2014 and it was a slow, horrible process. He had very few people in his circle, with mainly just myself and his mother (who had dementia so was not all there) able to be by his bedside. Watching these made me realize that I never truly grieved and worked through it, and as devastating as these are for me to watch, there's an incredible sort of catharsis in it, as well. Seeing other folks feel these tracks so deeply has made me feel less alone through it, and I'm loving the massive amounts of love and support being shared not just in the metal community, but the music community in general. That is so, so cool to me.
    When all this had happened, I felt very alone in it all. My father had made some comment about me "not knowing the guy well" (couldn't be further from the truth - we were extremely close) so I didn't even have support at home. It was a special sort of despair and isolation I wouldn't wish on anyone, because often you are left just living in the void left behind by your loved one, and the pull of that void can be STRONG. I remember just sort of dissociating through my university courses at the time, just... empty. You're absolutely right, both of you, and for anyone who reads my little wall of text... If you're going through something alone, reach out to someone, and likewise, if you know someone going through something, please don't assume someone else will step in to be their support. It could very well be that lifeline they desperately need!

    • @thewindmillfullovcorpses
      @thewindmillfullovcorpses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a horrible thing to go through. I'm really sorry for your loss and I'm glad you stayed among the living despite the pull of the void. The two of us have been lucky enough not to lose a loved one until this point in our lives but the thought of it does haunt me. Thank you very much for being open and willing enough to share this with us! I hope you're doing better now and you don't have to deal with such things again and I wish you all the strength you need to keep pushing through. And yes, someone is always there if you dare to ask, and if there's any bit of kindness and support you can give, don't hesitate! People really need it!

    This trilogy (the whole album, really) is such an incredible work of art, and you can feel every single contributor in his own special way so clearly... the drums are annihilating, the bass is fucking monstrous (especially in part III), the guitar melody and solos are indisputably genius, the vocals are so effective and emotionally delivered, and the orchestration is truly Andrew's best work yet, absolutely phenomenal. Josh is also basically a part of the team meanwhile, as the production is killing it in each of these songs. I've never been so impressed with a band, let alone an extreme metal band.

    • @thewindmillfullovcorpses
      @thewindmillfullovcorpses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dead on! The production of this stuff both video and audio is probably the most impressive to me! I never heard sound this crisp and clear in stuff that's so extreme before. And the fact that they could pull the "virtuoso drama curtain closing effect" (it's a thing) as if they're closing an opera and STILL have blast beats and breakdowns is grounds for cognitive dissonance at this point! Thank you so much for choosing to spend your time with our reactions! We don't take any of it for granted! / George

    i can´t wait for the following album, look how they evolved since will entered, i mean that piggy sounds EP and the "look how we play metal/deathcore" music in track 1 and 2, but track 3 was that one that light my fire... it made me curious of what comes next ... and track after track they released, that music gets better and better and no more piggy noises but actual "understandable" vocals but in a very harsh way. English is not my 1st language, but i can understand what he says/sings/grunts and screams after reading the lyrics one time in a lyric video. Now i drive in my car making weak noises listening to Lorna Shore, and i am old... my beard is getting grey&white :)

    As humans we have a bad tendency to want to destroy the things that cause us pain. Burning the memories, the things that are playing in your head cutting you up over and over again isnt a rare occurrence. Usually people just hide them away instead though. I also think the living through the first only to do it again, but bigger, is telling us that just because we survive something doesn't mean we actually live through it. He was already dead inside, when the first try didn't work, and the pain remained, he decided to take the things causing him pain with him. No one knew he had tried to kill himself, or that he was suicidal, so there was no one there to help. At most they would have seen that he was angry, which is perfectly normal.

      I'm really torn about how oblivious people can be to this stuff and I include myself in that category. You just don't know what the people around you are going through, and I dunno what we can do to know better! We're so clueless! Dialogue and connection between people is the way out as far as I can see one! As for burning away that which causes pain... yeap, I know that tendency first hand! We all have something we'd rather erase from existence, but if we're honest, we know we eventually have to make peace with what happened. / George

    Dancing like flames after all ive done, ill disappear in a sea of fire

    • @Jan_K1
      @Jan_K1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3rd recoed is essential for reminding people that its a lot of work to make a person feel better who already attempted suicide and like the people on the church just tapped his shoulder. The video did not show their faces on purpose.
      Thats what an depressed person feels.
      They get that you feel sorry, but realize they will be alone bcs in this world (at least from my exp) noone cares about you.
      From my pov this video is about showing that even this great band has lots of hard times and still managing to create such strong records.
      Also spreading that metal music in general isnt evil and can be truely beatiful.
      And of course, that you take care of depressed people. Therapists are often not the case you wanna go to. Many therapists make it wven worse (again from my pov)
      You need to have your buddies which will support you..cuz in the end after dancing like flames with someone you felt connected with...fine times dissapear no matter what happened before...and after all you done for your friends and other people. They let you collapse in your own built sea of fire.

      In some ways I relate. Having catastrophic thoughts or incredibly negative emotion is a dreadful way to live and it's a recurring thing. It's not like someone tells you a nice thing once and all your troubles are over. And that sense of isolation is the worst thing. I don't wish that upon anyone. If people let you collapse, there will be other people! Keep looking. Don't give up.
