It's great to see Overwatch guides that aren't just rundowns of abilities and "look at this awesome play of the game". These videos are also great for non-snipers, so you know where to expect them.
+Jason Goodman Haha I'm glad you found this useful! And yes, this could also be a guide on how to soft counter Widowmaker, or at least not get your head shot off all the time ;P Cheers!
One of my favourite spots that I learned of recently is on route 66. I have no idea when it will be patched though. After the cart comes through the door if you go to the left and across the ledge that gets underused. When you are in front of the entry way next to the next checkpoint door look straight up towards the big dent in the mountain and then a smidge higher than that (it can take a bit of practise to get it right) but once you hook up you will land on the side of the mountain on an invisible ledge. It has amazing sight over that whole portion of the map but once you get spotted you're a sitting duck. A really fun and sneaky spot no one will expect. I hope I was able to explain the spot well enough :)
excellent video! As one sniper to another, I'll share one of my own secrets (hopefully you haven't discovered it yet!) my absolute favorite map to snipe in is the Ilios construction map. on top of the temple-like structure that's directly in front of the spawn, you can grapple up to the solid part. If you get behind the tree, you can snipe virtually the entire enemy team while being almost completely covered. the design of the temple protects your bottom half while the tree obscures your location. you can also get a great view of the enemies going for the objective and you can take them out before they reach it if someone does happen to spot your location (rare, but it's possible) there's a med pack directly below you. and since you're in the spawn area, you typically don't have to worry about flankers I've never seen someone using this spot before, but it's excellent
+Nagito Komaeda ooo this sounds like a really fun spot to try out :D I haven't discovered it yet, but I'll definitely see if I can give it a go! Thanks a lot for the suggestion (:
LOL Seems like you've got the idea of how to play Widowmaker down pretty well ;) But yea, that's what I like about her: you can be insanely aggressive with your hook shots, or you can be more defensive and sit back with cover. VERSATILITY at it's best!
+KRATOZNIZMO | Team Essence Yea man, hopefully this guide helps you out! Even if you can't really practice now, I think at least knowing all the spots would give you a big advantage :)
+Dibz Of course dude! Some interesting stuff in here, maybe when the game comes out we can do some dual sniper montages together, PC to XB1 Colabs would be weird but interesting and I could do with some Overwatch exposure as I am from the Gears of War community so I am a straight up randy in this one xD
Haha yea, I've been studying quite a bit lately! Overwatch productivity may slow down the next few days, but that's of course temporary, and can wait! Only one more week of finals and summer will be here! Thank you for the wise words :)
Im planning on playing a lot of widowmaker as a 1st choice, and Junkrat as 2nd. But these spots also help a ton. atleast 50% of these i didnt know about from before, and some of them i have my own twist to it. Thanks for showing us these. They will be used more or less : ). Would it be ok for me to add you to battle.net aswell ? maybe we could play sometime and learn more : ). liked and subscribed.
+MisterWitch YES! This what I enjoy hearing! She's meant to be versatile, and I'm glad you're putting your own twist into the locations :) And yes, we can, depending on space of course, since a lot of people are asking. But anyway, leave your bnet tag here or message it to me (preferred so I can keep track more easily), and I'll add ya! Cheers :) !
+Marracon Haha MEIbe that would be my next guide! I'll have to see what kind of footage I can get ;) I'll definitely put what you said into consideration though, thank you for the suggestion and feedback! It's so very appreciated!
+Dibz You're welcome! Its always a pleasure for me to see your Overwatch vids. I'm completely mystified why you have only 385 subscribers. But I have the feeling that this will change. ;) "MEIbe that would be my next guide!" Made me smile xD
+Marracon you mean....MEI'd you smile.... ;) Badum--tsssss LOL XD anyway I'm actually super grateful on how I DO have 385 subs, really. I'm honestly amazed on how supportive everybody has been, and I appreciate every single sub. I'm surprised because I only started this channel the end of January this year, but all the support I've been receiving is making me truly happy, and I am loving every second interacting with each and one of my subs ^_^ Thank you for the kind words and the continued support :)
Oh! Of course... MEI´d me smile. xD Like I said in the past, English is not my mother tongue. ;D I viewed your Junkrat fun guide just now. My laugh woke up my girl friend (its early in the morning in germany).^^ I am very happy about your feedbacks. That would be impossible if you had 385k subs. ;D
+Marracon bahaha if your girlfriend hates you for waking her up, you can't blame me! It's not my fault :p impossible for 385k subs?!? PSH thanks man XD jk haha but yea I just realized you asked for a Mei guide as well....So I'll have to pick and choose now ;P IT'LL BE A SURPRISE
Dibz how much FPS Experience do you have? Im asking this because i need a bit of a guideline of how long it will take me to be consistant with widowmaker. I had a pretty good week on open beta, but games tended to be from good (aiming wise) to weak. So there was a up and down going on in my performance. (Note that the experience from other players do not make as much of a difference when it comes to picking of enemies with a Sniper Class, so it has something to do with the performance of oneself). Other than that good video, i will keep those spots in mind. Most of them i discovered by playing, but some of them i never even noticed. Thx and see you on release.
+SaithMasu12 Hi :)! Experience wise, I played a lot of FPS growing up, but never competitively, until recently. I played Counterstrike 1.6, Halo (Xbox) ODST, Call Of Duty, Battlefield 3/4 (On PC), and most recently before Overwatch, I played a bit of CS:GO. I felt that FPS wasn't really my favorite type of genre, of course until I discovered Overwatch. But to answer the question, I played a bit of CS:GO with friends, and we played a lot of competitive matches. I got to Legendary Eagle Master (LEM), and I kind of stopped playing seriously after that. So, as you know, AWPing in Counterstrike requires quite a bit of "flick shot" reflexes, and consistent aiming, so that's pretty much where I got a lot of the Widowmaker skills from, as AWPing was my main role in Counterstrike. As to how long it's going to take you to be consistent, it really depends on how often you play and practice with Widowmaker, and how much experience you've had with other FPS's. I've been sniping in other games for quite some time, so it might actually take longer than I would think, but if you play her daily and practice consistently, I'm sure within a month you'd be pretty decent. For me though, her aiming and playstyle came naturally, so all I really had to do was get used to the sensitivity, which was like a week or 2. TL:DR; Played FPS almost my whole life, but not competitively until last year in CS:GO. Based on what I think, it'd take about a month of consistent Widowmaker-ing (starting from 0 experience of sniping in FPS) to get consistent shots. Of course, everyone is different, but for me, it took me about a week or two to get her down. Hope this helps!
Wow man, thx for the detailed answer mate. Yepp, that really helps. Well, i played a lot of FPs Shooters in the past but that was some time ago. Played CS, CS Source and even Unreal Tournament. Right now i am training flick shots in the simulator (CS GO) and Tracking, Leading. I think consistancy is the most important part overall. So you think its fine to play Widow on a daily basis until you feel comfortable? or is this somehow bad in this team based game? I mean i want to play all the other heros as well, as they require different skills, but i want to do them one by one until i feel good with each of them.
+SaithMasu12 Hey man np! I honestly like discussing and talking with viewers :) But anyway, yea I remember Unreal Tournament, as well as Team Fortress Classic! Those two were also the main FPS's that I played growing up, and also required a pretty insane amount of aim as well, besides CS. The CS simulator would help you a lot, in regards to aiming. However, you want to make sure you are standing still and not moving, because in CS, the movement is quite different than Overwatch. In Overwatch, you can instantly hit 0 velocity and change directions to move, but not in CS (as there is movement acceleration), so make sure not to get TOO used to CS movement that it screws up your Overwatch moving mechanics. Not only that, the timing of your Widowmaker charges is important to remember, too. Of course, you always want to know when to take a max charged shot, or 1-2 charged shot. That's something you also have to take into account, unlike CS and other games, which adds a lot of diversity. But yea, for practice when OW comes out, I would say play her at least a few games every day (if you have time), but not religiously. Just practice every now and then when you're on defense, and in time, I think you'll see steady improvement. OR, you can honestly just go VS. computers/AI and make it 1v6, start on easy difficulty, then go medium, hard, etc, and just train your shots (whether they are close or far). This will help you get used to being in tight situations, and will definitely help you train your close-ranged sniper shots when the time comes. It's the closest thing you can get to playing a real game, and you don't have to worry about losing, and can just focus on practicing your shots that are moving. So, if you feel bad about always picking the same hero when your team may not need a Widow, you can do this instead. Playing Widowmaker constantly, even on offense, is possible though, but I'm not sure how your teammates would take it, and if it would actually be fun for you in the long run.
Thx Dibz for all the tipps. You are awesome;) Well i figured that Overwatch had no real spread, its pin point accurate. You basically hit where you shoot.Thats why i adjusted that in the simulator. I have no spread and no movement accelaration there, when i train for flick shots and other stuff. I builded all exactly as it would be in Overwatch because i dont want to train the wrong movements. I think it all comes down to muscle memory and for that the sensivity needs to be exactly the same there as in Overwatch. Good tip on the full max and charged shot. I igured i mostly hit the enemy on the body model, so i needed to hit another time (mostly with a lesser powerful shot, to not loose the target in the meanwhile), to secure the kill. Thats one of the hardest parts. Because then i suddenly needed a decent tracking aim, where i predicted which way the opponent moves. Thats why im more happy about headshots, but thats something that doesnt go off as much as i like it would. Next up: In the open beta i used the simulator for training and air shots (grappling hook), but i couldnt find a custom game with 1vs6. Didnt know that , i will definetly play that a lot. I really dont want to be a burden to my fellow team mates, because widow isnt always the best choice to do. Lastly i wanted to really thank you for all the time you spent on answering me this questions. I really apprichiate that.
+SaithMasu12 Haha it seems like you're already on top of training correctly, and that's good! Hope it really helps you when Overwatch is released :) And I'm also glad that you know how much your team composition matters, we need more players like that! Of course, I love communicating with my viewers, let me know if you have any more thoughts/questions! Cheers!
+Cobalt Blue I'm in a custom game and reduced the cooldown time to 0%, so you can continuously use it. You can see the steps on how I do it here: th-cam.com/video/hxR8sBWAGR8/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps!

+Jack Tweddle Thank you for the motivational comment man :) helps me to push and work harder! And an Overwatch God? Nah...........not yet. ;)
Your voice and inflection, It's like listening to an old school animal documentary. It's hypnotic xD

+Léa H (Niwelz) I'm happy that you found these videos helpful :) Hopefully these help you prepare for launch :D only 11 more days.....
Very helpful, I guess I have to watch it several times. Thanks!
I'm glad you found it helpful ^_^ Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks alot man, hopefully I'll land one of those "Flying Hook-Shots" someday.
Until then I'll just be careful and duck for cover.

Just watched this, went into Hollywood and got 22-2 with Widowmaker!!!! Cheers!
Glad the guide is helping you out ;)!
And just finished on Volskaya with 21-1, its all downhill from now on!!! Great guides. Now, make me better with Genji ;-)
LOL NICE! Will add a Genji guide to the list. Working on other ones at the moment, along with school and finals XD
As an old fart, who didn't put enough time into his Mech Eng degree, focus on that and not Overwatch. Good luck.

Omg.... You are a monster
:O How dare you! :P
YES
I'm really good at widow and I need more sniping places
Ps how do you have your hook not take 13 seconds to reaload
I play ps4
He's in a custom game, so he can set his abilities to have no cool down.
8:5 when you jump to the thin bare to your right you have bether cover and can see more of the entrance
Hmm interesting. I'll have to check that out in game, and thank you for the input :)!
I have to thank fot these videos
Can anyone tell me why there's no wait time to use the grappling hook on this video
+Cobalt Blue I'm in a custom game and reduced the cooldown time to 0%, so you can continuously use it. You can see the steps on how I do it here:
th-cam.com/video/hxR8sBWAGR8/w-d-xo.html
Hope this helps!
+Dibz Thank you
What sensitivity do you play on?
My Widowmaker sensitivity is 6 in-game sensitivity with 1000 DPI! Zoomed sensitivity is 38. Not quite sure if horizontal/vertical sensitivity matter, but it's at 30 horizontal 20 vertical. Going to do some testing with horizontal/vertical tonight, as it's been brought to my attention recently. Also, my desktop mouse sensitivity in general is on the 6th tick in the control panel.
+Dibz I play on console unfortunately but I reduced the aim sensitivity to 10 that might seem too low as I can't really react as quick to up close targets might need to tweak it a bit.
Ahh I see....yea I'm not too knowledgable on what kind of sensitivity is good for console :x Sorry man.
Dibz thank you for the tips. Have you settled on a horizontal and vertical sens? I didn't even know that was a thing. I have a similar sensitivity as yours. Which is about 2x the sensitivity of Kephrii. Do you think 38 zoom sens is most ideal? I have a hard time settling on one since it's more ideal for medium range and not long range. Any tips about that? By the way, I was a gold player and now almost diamond as a widowmaker main!
is this console or pc?
in this video?
This is PC! But the spots and locations on each map should still be viable, I would think :)
the majority of snipers are terrible and dont really do any proper sniping in quick play
Haha yea I see that a lot too, but that's why I enjoy competitive a lot more :)
Dibz your guides have helped me alot and my widow play is getting better every day, thank you
