My mom dated Larry when they were teenagers! We have a vinyl album that he signed to her saying “To my future wife” lol! Then my mom met my dad opening up for the Hinson’s. They will be married 46 years this year. Just goes to show being raised up in church and around gospel music together makes for a long marriage! My parents went on to sing for years and did MANY Hinson songs!!! My dad is ever bit as great as Kenny was. Still love to hear these guys at any moment.
Stella, their mom played piano for our church when I was 7 years old-a Mr. Cox was music director, All Hinsons, my sister and I and many of our age were allowed to sing in the country choir. They left to California when Harold got out of Army, stayed there many years, then returned to NC. Ronnie bought the lot and land his family had rented in 1940's. Ronnie was class mate of my older bro. Richard. Yvonne one year older than myself, Larry one year younger. Rex Nelson -of Nelson Trio which Kelly carries on today. Her sister is Karen Peck- The wife to be of Rex family lived along same road. Nelson's lived just door away from them, his mom was one of school teachers also played piano=her cousin was also one of our school teachers=and the houses they lived in belonged to both teachers family.. M. Nelson's older brother was our family Dr.
Often imitated, never duplicated. I listen to Kenny sing almost every day, brings back a lot of memories as they were such a big part of my early years. One by one seems like they are going home. A Hundred Years from now It will not make much difference, friend, A hundred years from now, If you live in a stately mansion Or on a floating river scow; If the clothes you wear are tailor-made Or pieced together somehow, If you eat big steaks or beans and cake A hundred years from now. It won’t matter about your bank account Or the make of car you drive, For the grave will claim your riches and fame And the things for which you strive. There’s a deadline we all must meet And no one will turn up late, It won’t matter then all the places you’ve been, Each one will keep that date. We will only have in eternity What we gave away on earth, When we go to the grave we can only save The things of eternal worth, What matters, friend, the earthly gain For which some men always bow? For your destiny will be sealed, you see A hundred years from now. - Walden Parker (A favorite poem of Leonard Ravenhill)
I doubt most churches today would like this song..how sad that we've lost the old time way. No more songs about heaven, trading our cross for a crown or loved ones waiting for us. The church better repent!
my what a voice kenny hinson had,i miss the days listening to this great music with my wonderful husband i was proud to be the woman who god called to be a pastor wife miss it i hope to reunite with danny in heaven miss you so much and the midistery.sometimes we just got to ask why
Everyone has their own musical tastes. Mine are this kind of Country Gospel. I know people who like contemporary and they feel the same about it as I do SG. I just wish that it didn't have to be either/or. The promoters will not promote this kind of music anymore. They make it go out of style just as the fashion industry changes clothing styles and you have to buy what they sell. I'm glad though that with Country Gospel, you can always go back and listen to the old ones and they still fit.:-)
Mary B Byrd Right On Sister! God We Need Old-Fashioned Revival in the Land! Maybe an Earthquake Will Shake Up Vancouver Island and DRAW PEOPLE BACK TO GOD,
Kenny had the best country voice I ever heard. Could have been a major country star. I had a meeting with him once and tried to get him to go country. He thought about it for about two minutes and told me no. He said I just can't leave my family and I love the music we sing. He made the right choice.
Larry Strickland They were ministers not just singer songwriters. But yes his voice was great and sadly some people would have jumped at that chance to be more famous.
I went and seen the Hinson's when I was in the 5th grade. I'm almost to my 50th birthday and I still remember what am impact they put on this ole guy. I even told my parents that's what I wanted to do with my life was to sing gospel musicto the world but I didn't get to, but my life isn't over yet so maybe one day soon, mean while I will keep listening to songs like this to brighten my day
Chuck Ihrke , i say amen to that, i wish the ones who are still singing like Ronnie and bo would come to Washington state they were all such great writers and singers
They sang for love and joy of music, Spread the gospel, not for getting rich. ..Sincere everyone with a great mom's leadership, We all learned of Dad's killed in action 1945 and thankful we still had ours who later helped them get jobs, a place to live, small home part of 'monthly payment' working on a dairy farm. (we had our own far, by then and the WWII had ended with one of our brother's coming home .
I grew up listening to this on my grandparents cassette player and on Mulls convention on Sunday morning gospel station before church now its music i don't ever get into like big daddy weave im not saying bad about the music but new stuff not my cup of coffee. The world has changed alot.
Verse 1: A million old songs have been written about That home where the soul never dies And each time I hear one, my heart has to shout And it lifts my ^spirit so high There's so many things uncertain below And too often ^too much has gone wrong But a song about Heaven again lets me know This old world's not the place I belong. Chorus: So sing one more song about Heaven I still love that old fashioned sound And tell me once more, 'bout that beautiful shore How I'll trade the old ^cross for a crown Yeh, and sing about loved ones waiting over there And how someday I'm gonna join in that throng Yeah, sing one more song about Heaven so fair And remind me that it won't be long. Verse 2: That old hymnbook holder on the back of the pew ^Now it's empty and it has been for years And those songs about Heaven are no longer used And it's breaking my ^heart into tears The choir has bought some new robes They thought they needed new songs Now they're reading the ^words off the wall Lord, I'd give anything just to hear someone sing "Heaven, is still worth it all". Chorus: (tag) Heaven will surely be worth it all So remind me that it won't be long. Top
I have a problem with "praise and worship" teams. I can't tell you how many I have seen show up to church with their guitar but no bible. And once their "praise and worship" session is over, they grab the equipment and sneak out back not even wanting to hear the sermon about Whom they claim to sing for.
Look up jimmy Bowen and who he produced… that’s who offered Kenny millions of dollars to sing mainstream country music..,Kenny said thanks but no thanks…. 100 % facts
I really dont see that this song is about Heaven as much as it is a sentimental desire to go back to the way it used to be. Why cant you sing about Heaven just because the words are on a screen. Some people have made the hymnal an idol. And, most of the new stuff is a lot of Scripture for the words. How can that be shallow?

There is no one that is as good as Kenny. Sorry, but that’s a FACT!

Love this song...There will never be another Kenny Hinson... His voice WOW...
SuperVonlee I agree
so true.
Their music brings me to tears and causes my hands to raise to the Lord. Such a blessing after all these years.
Sarah, your wonderful remark is so timely. I loved The Hinsons so so much. Would love to sit and talk with them about Kenny and the Hinsons!
@@haroldarmstrong8285 This good music is so uplifting during these dark days.
All their songs are so anointed. Wonderful ministry.❤❤❤

Appreciate your insight Larry!! I agree!!!
Larry Strickland so glad he followed the Lord’s leading. Can’t imagine how he could have become any more popular
Larry Strickland They were ministers not just singer songwriters. But yes his voice was great and sadly some people would have jumped at that chance to be more famous.
Gospel is the only music God can use to save people from hell. The carnal music of this world comes from sin.
Leslie Bauman It sure does. Sermons in songs have reached more people than Billy Graham.
If music is a ticket to the pearly gates, the Hinsons will surely be there. They are annointed...so was Kenny.
i can not forget what a great voice KENNY had it just echo,s .
lanny ross love the hinsons
One of if not the greatest southern gospel singer ever.
I'll have to agree with you. His voice is wonderful.
Greatest country gospel group in history.
Elvis said that Kennie Hinson was the best gospel singer. If he was good enough for Elvis, certainly he's good for me.
John Yow You’re right, I remember when they always came to the Mabee center in Tulsa.
I love the Hinsons and this song is about Heaven just listen to Kenny sing!
J
love old southern gospel because the old southern gospel is betterthan new
The Hinsons are my best gospel group, and second is Karen Wheaton , I Loved them all!
I went and seen the Hinson's when I was in the 5th grade. I'm almost to my 50th birthday and I still remember what am impact they put on this ole guy. Wish they were all singing today. Their music was from their heart.
Chuck Ihrke , i say amen to that, i wish the ones who are still singing like Ronnie and bo would come to Washington state they were all such great writers and singers
thank god for one more song about heaven
This is a beautiful song, how can anyone not like it?
The Hinsons were one of the pioneers of gospel music and we need to get back old time feeling again.
The Lord really gave Kenny a talent. What a voice .
Listen to the second verse. It fits today.
Just tell me one person in country music in the last twenty years could even come close to this !! Wallen 😂😂😂 Bryan 🤣🤣😁Stapleton 🤣🤣🤣
Really tho!!
the ones in this group may have went to their reward; but they have left us with the reward of their music to uplift our spirit
The most beautiful music this side of heaven!
Just think
When we get to heavem he is singing about. We will hear Kenny non stop
Songs about heaven forever
Still great after all these years later!!!!
I grew up listening to this on my grandparents cassette player and on Mulls convention on Sunday morning gospel station before church now its music i don't ever get into like big daddy weave im not saying bad about the music but new stuff not my cup of coffee. The world has changed alot.
Thank you so much for posting this, nobody can compare to the original Hinsons, God bless you 🇺🇸
Still listening
What a voice Kenny had. I can hear George Jones voice sound in this song. Nobody has a voice like Kenny did.
Verse 1:
A million old songs have been written about
That home where the soul never dies
And each time I hear one, my heart has to shout
And it lifts my ^spirit so high
There's so many things uncertain below
And too often ^too much has gone wrong
But a song about Heaven again lets me know
This old world's not the place I belong.
Chorus:
So sing one more song about Heaven
I still love that old fashioned sound
And tell me once more, 'bout that beautiful shore
How I'll trade the old ^cross for a crown
Yeh, and sing about loved ones waiting over there
And how someday I'm gonna join in that throng
Yeah, sing one more song about Heaven so fair
And remind me that it won't be long.
Verse 2:
That old hymnbook holder on the back of the pew
^Now it's empty and it has been for years
And those songs about Heaven are no longer used
And it's breaking my ^heart into tears
The choir has bought some new robes
They thought they needed new songs
Now they're reading the ^words off the wall
Lord, I'd give anything just to hear someone sing
"Heaven, is still worth it all".
Chorus:
(tag)
Heaven will surely be worth it all
So remind me that it won't be long.

you can, but they don't now all the music is CCM and about "the struggle"
Most of the new stuff you can't even understand what they are saying much less what they are singing about and they CALL it praise and worship. Really
Edna Bradshaw You have that right Sister in the Lord!
I love the Hinsons and this song is about Heaven just listen to Kenny sing!
