    This is my Physical Metallurgy Teacher. Initially I found the teaching pace a little slow. But having overcome my impatience, I came to love the teacher.

    The last sequence was wrong completely. Because it wasn't even a hexagonal 2-D arrangement. i.e the co-ordination number was 4 instead of 6. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • @blueblood-_-
      @blueblood-_- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, as it was square planar 2d and stacking was done in ABAB sequence.

    Mistake is in fig no - 3.
    Because as told by sir in HCP structure it should be made up of hexagonal P lattice,
    . .
    . . .
    . .
    But in fig 3 it's different.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    oranges ABC ABC as in the second layer atoms are placed in centroid of inverted triangles and third layer it is placed in centroid of upright triangle
    Laddu is AB AB
    the mistake is found in HCP as the crystal axis are perpendicular to each other and it has to be tilted to 120 degree

    Oranges 🍊 = ABAB {hcp}
    Laddoos 🥯 = square planar 2d and stacking in ABAB arrangement
    Last Question = NOT Hcp bcoz basic 2d arrangement is square planar.

      I always thought that CCP and FCC are the same things, as both have 4 atoms per unit cell... where-ever there are atoms at the face centre fcc and ccp both terms were used by people. No one told the basic difference between them. As one is crystal str. (CCP) and other lattice (FCC).

    oranges = ABA
    Laddoos = Simple cubic packing
    in fig;
    a) It is a simple cubic packing.
    b) It is ACBACB cubic closed packing crystal (If the spheres are identical which don't seem)
    C) It is not a hexagonal packing as it is a square layer which is closely packed with another above it.
    Please let me know the answers?

    Mistake : In hexagonal packing, we must have a 2D hexagonal layer, it is not the case in the shown figure

  • @riteshkukreti1349
    @riteshkukreti1349 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Orange is a ABAB stacking as the orange in the first layer is exactly above the middle orange of 3rd layer. Ladoos are neither ABAB nor ABCABC as if we see the packing in 2dimension it is not a dense packing or coordination no. is 4 in 2d. In 3rd one, C option hcp's 2d diagram is a mistake it is not dense packing or coordination number is 4. Sir I request you to post the correct answers.

      Its not the ladoo or orange its the position that decides stacking here.
      See that oranges are placed in voids of previous layer and 3rd layer is at same pt as 1st so it is ABAB

  • @IITian_shubham_shekhar_rajput
    @IITian_shubham_shekhar_rajput 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my prospective both are ABAB
    First layer of the last fig is not closely packed hexagonal layer....SO that is where the fault lies....
