About popularity flowerhorn nowhere near to oscars legacy. Every fish keeping hobbyist would have kept oscars in their journey. They are good in community tank as long as nothing they can eat. They are peaceful. They are also referred to as aquarium dogs. They can instantly recognise you and ask you for food. Please get facts right.

It is super easy, Oscar are natural fishes it will breed once they found the aquarium is good and safe. all you need is a pair, once the oscar's identify the pair, and you see symptoms of trying to lay eggs, make sure you separate them from other fishes in the tank and give some clay pot, or plates for it lay eggs, they themselves lay and hatch the fishes....

sure, you can but there are some risks you may end up with both male or female, on that case you there are some chances of clashes between. you cannot Identify gender of Oscar until it reaches 8 to 10 inches of their growth. So think twice... Rather I would recommend to have a new 5 or 5+ ft tank so that if your fish lay's egg, you have separate them to your 3 feet tank and after 2 - 3 months you can put them back to the 5 ft tank... Just my suggestion...
