    Just to make this clear; everyone asking the question "Will this remove.....", the answer is YES. Also, the question "Is it safe to use on....", again, the answer is YES. Yes it removes acrylic, enamel, varnish, primer, etc. Yes, it is safe for metal, plastic, resin, etc. YES!!!!!

    I'm not afraid of poorly painted minis, but I am afraid that if someone has painted mini's poorly... they probably didn't do a superior job of assembling the mini's. I'm doing the army I always wanted to try now (finally), 5th edition Lizardmen, and I've been lucky. Several sets I bought were not even glued together. I suppose there is always some risk.
    I'm trying some Kaboom I just got today. Thank you. This is the kind of info I need.
    I stripped metal fig's with acetone. Worked well.

    @Reaverhobbies I don't think a bag or jar would affect the potency. I only tried Pinesol once on an old Armorcast resin titan. Got a bad flu after putting it in and forgot about it for a month. The resin absorbed the Pinesol and softened and expanded the model. I had a puffy, floppy Warhound.

    @skalathrax Doesn't seem to matter. A bag uses less cleaners so it is more economical. Also it is easier to to get small bits out rather than fishing them out of a dirty jar. Although with a jar you can use the same clean over and over and over. Guess it depends on how many minis you have to clean.

    The Purple Degreaser brands and yellow LA's Awesome Cleaner (best so far,) will not hurt plastics, so use them Full Strength. But ALWAYS wear gloves! These degreasers will leach the oils out of your skin and cause painful damage, especially over time. You can reuse the cleaner over and over. I keep it in a salsa jar. Overnight soak, gloves, long tweezers, sink, toothbrush, done.

    @videoGunZ You can't just drop a painted mini into the ultrasonic cleaner. It only removes bits of loose paint. It still needs to presoak in cleaner.

  • @ThePaintingClinic

    Testors is enamel based, not oil. It's been ages since I tired it on enamel, but I believe it will work. Finally, I suggest getting Vallejo paint instead of GW. It's better quality and better value.

  • @ThePaintingClinic
    @ThePaintingClinic  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @lukazila111 It should be. Keep in mind though "resin" is a very general term for a plastic compound and not all resin is the same. There is a difference between say the resin used by Forgeworld and the softer resin used by PP and for Finecast, both of which are closer to PVC. I haven't tried it on all forms of resin.

    There's a new product out now called Dawn Power Dissolver. Its found with the degreasers at most stores and smells horrible but does what purple power and simple green does in only 2 hours and doesnt harm plastic. I stripped an entire army with a bottle with no loss of detail.

    Methalated spirit is the best thing to use i have found. It wont melt or soften plastic minis either. It will work fast, you only need to put it in for 15-30 mins and the paint comes off easy. Then just sift out any flakes of paint and reuse the same liquid over and over again. I have used the same bottle for the last year and its still as good as the day i got it

  • @ThePaintingClinic

    @UnitedWarGamers I haven't had a problem with it not removing primer. Let them soak longer I guess. Haven't tried bleach. On my webpage there is a huge list of different chemical that can remove paint. The problem is most are dangerous, harmful, toxic or messy. That is why I suggest CSC or PP. It's mostly safe and you can dump it down the drain. The worst it can do (with normal use) is dry out your skin if you soak your hand in it.

    I was a big user acetone and brake fluid to strip battletech miniatures. I pickup some purple power to see how well it works. I think I found my new paint remover. A miniature that was well over 10 years old was stripped in a matter of hours. Some paint was still on in the crevices but a little more soaking and a finer cleaning brush I think I'll get it. The super glue was still on so I'll soak it for the week. My acetone and brake fluid stripping always took longer and was really messy. Didn't always get the paint off in one scrubbing. Even if it was soaked for months. Want to get the sonic cleaner to see how much cleaner it makes it.

  • @ctno3
    @ctno3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The main ingredient in all of these fluids is methalated spirit (not sure if iv spelt that right). But they water it down and pump up the price. pure methalated spirit will remove paint from plastic, and metal minis alike. about 10-20 mins in methalated spirit and its done, without damaging the minis at all.

  • @Dmorris556
    @Dmorris556 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've used this method frequently, I put it in an ultrasonic cleaner let it soak over night then turn on the cleaner for 5-10 minutes. Most of the time they come perfectly clean. Beware though, if you get this stuff on your skin it "can" cause chemical burns, especially if you get it in a cut. Wear eye protection and gloves.

    I couldn't find any Simple Green at the few stores I went to so I pulled out a can on Goof Off to see how it worked. I sprayed it into a baggie with a few miniatures and left it for about eighteen hours. Everything came off. Paint, new primer, old primer. Everything. And it didn't eat through the baggie, so that was a bonus.

      Doctor Faust's Painting Clinic I think I primed when it was too humid. Two of the models legs came out "fuzzy" so the primer added texture that I did not want. +DarkYokuo It won't even strip the paint that much on GW sprayed models and will not strip the GW primer. I would use LA's Totally Awesome, or Simple Green to strip down paint from GW sprayed models. You can find Simple Green at Walmart, Shopko, places like that and LA's Totally Awesome at Dollar General, or Dollar Store. They both work the same, they both keep the GW primer on, LA is cheaper, and they both do not damage the plastics or resins. Purple Power, use on models sprayed with Rustolean or Krylon.

      Methalated spirit is the best thing to use. It wont melt or soften plastic minis either. It will work fast, you only need to put it in for 15-30 mins and the paint comes off easy. Then just sift out any flakes of paint and reuse the same liquid over and over again. I have used the same bottle for the last year and its still as goid as the day i got it.

      TiredFellow7 I wouldn't recommend it if it ruined the mini.

      TiredFellow7 acetone will work
      if you trying to destroy the details and it will turn your plastic miniature into a puddle of goo. It works great on metal Miniatures however.

    Does this work with resin, or should I use something else like Isopropyl?

      +Doctor Faust's Painting Clinic Thanks! Do resin types differ as much as plastic? I'm just afraid of eating some miniatures that I'm afraid may be recast copies.
