Be careful with those prickly pear I had one of those little spines(glochids) blow up and get into my eye one time. It stuck in my upper eyelid and broke off and I couldn't see it to get it out. 9 days of missery later the eye doctor got it out. I went to the hospital in Las Cruces and they were absolutely no help. It would really screw up a survival situation.

James...a very well produced vid my man. Ur boy may benefit from holding the knife stationary & pulling the fire starter up on the top of the knife instead of using the blade. The blade itself will deflect the sparks better & chances of dulling the knife edge goes away. Loved the start of this...will we see footage of the other participants through Ur channel? Great job & keep it coming.
Charles Loveday that would be my suggestion on technique also. Striking down the rod with the knife also risks hitting the tinder pile and knocking it out of the fire ring.

yeah it wasnt really consumed, it was just for the film. in a desert setting shtf scenario, our protagonist would be happy to take water any where he can find it.
