We need a remake of this with the Marching Constable in the lead...These videos are now being watched our Police Officers in the States . Job done well , W.S.
Thanks for this nice video. Magnificent band, splendid wellknown marches and a charming police officer in front to complete the show. I like it. In the Netherlands we have royals and palaces as well, but changing the guards as Britain does, is unknown. Keep on with this tradition!
@MrJimmyboy1972 The musical support, in other words the band, usually plays the regimental quick march of the Old Guard when they return to barracks if they can.
Many thanks. Outstanding video on numerous counts. The boy who appears in the lower right corner at 4:33 is priceless. I am the leader of a small marching band in the New York City area and while playing I always find some youngsters with the same reaction. One question: Does anyone know the length of the route to WC and back to barracks?
+Armchair General All I know is, that the guards don't use mitre caps since the Napoleonic Wars. They earned their bearskin caps as honour. It is based of French guard-troops who wore them. So it is a sign of the victory about the French.
@groseliers Aye! he's goin straight tae the mess for drinkie-poos. the boys, and girls(in the band) have got to hand their kit in after its been cleaned. the bearskins and uniforms are only issued if you are on official royal guard duties.
@arbuckle123 i think whats shes sayign is that she could have kept a bit more distance - you come to take pics of the soldiers doing the parade not pictures of the police on duty ... being a few yards ahead out of all the soldiers and camera shots wouldnt have hurt and wouldnt have looked so silly.. no offence to anyone intended
Sad thing is they do, some of the people watching try to do all sorts of dumb things otherwise; stepping right out in front of the band to get photos, getting way too close to the Guard etc. People can't just stand and watch, they need marshalling!
@hmmcrunchy You might have a good point. In fact, in other (newer) videos you can see two police officers walking on each side of the road at a considerable distance from the guards. That’s indeed better for filming and photographing. That wasn’t he problem with the criticism, though. The problem was the pejorative tone used to depict the duties of women in the police. That I found offensive and despicable. The rest can be discussed, of course, and it seems even to have been solved already.
@MrJimmyboy1972 (Part 2 0f 2) and finally there is the judiciary branch: the supreme court of the UNited Kingdom, courts of the united kingdom (courts of england and wales, courts of north ireland, courts of scotland) the judiciary is responsable for the constitution and the human rights. the house of parliment is elected by the 650 constituencies. don't doubt me jimmy
@MrJimmyboy1972 I have nothing but the highest respect for all servicemen. No offence, but there was definitely no need to come over all sarcastic and pretentious. There are always new people who come on here and watch these sorts of videos; I was only trying to help. However, from now on, I will try to keep my mouth shut since there are more and more servicemen who watch these videos, and they do not seem to take well to criticisms or comments.
@MrJimmyboy1972 (part 1 of 2) Britain also known as england is a country which is a part of the United KIngdom or UK for short, is made up of the following countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and North Ireland. In what is known as Her Majesty's there are three divisions: the Government which contains the Sovereign, the Crown the privy council, the cabinet. the prime minister, her majesty's civil service. The Parliament which contains the house of lords and the house of commons.
@theloudhalo The agent is not “leading” anyone. She’s there for traffic and crowd control. It’s good that you mention that you’re a woman because these are some of the most misogynous comments I’ve read in a long time. I don’t want to over dramatize, but your remark is disrespectful with the tasks of women in the police and a spit in the face of all women who have given their lives in the line of duty, perhaps because they forgot to “mascara their killers to death”. No offence intended.
I love it when you hear a child yelling HERE THEY COME... brings back memories and watch the little ones marching in place

Very nice video, but I had a thought if it was November would they be in great coats
On Nov 25th 08 it was verry warm in Windsor?
Is this definitely November? Thought they'de be in greatcoats by then
Just a small observation...at the end of the march the Scots Guard officer follows the band but the old guard properly continues straight ahead.
Wow, how many different bands or regiments or whatever you call them are based in that barracks?
Many thanks. Outstanding video on numerous counts. The boy who appears in the lower right corner at 4:33 is priceless. @windsorsoldiers the certain other bands coming from: The Scots Guards, Irish Guards, and Welsh Guards. Life Guards, Blues and Royals.
@theloudhalo shes not allowed to keep in time. shes there for crowd control along with her colleagues. by the way! she is a cool mover.
marches.....wellington-sons of the brave-old panama-machine gun guards-imperial echoes-hielan laddie...m
"imperial echoes" is the march they play entering the barracks.
I think the female police officer is a lovely mover!
Are there any 'ceremonial' guard outfit that still use mitre caps ?
+Armchair General All I know is, that the guards don't use mitre caps since the Napoleonic Wars. They earned their bearskin caps as honour. It is based of French guard-troops who wore them. So it is a sign of the victory about the French.
It's not that long, just that long stretch of road and then some between the two.
whats the song at 1:44? lol at the *sigh* 2:22!
1,44 is Sons of the Brave but the music gets cut off a couple of times during it
I think 2,22 is Old Panama
