Enjoying watching your progress. My wife and I sailed from Beach Haven NJ to Marathon Florida on our 1979 30' Hunter sailboat. Watching you has us thinking of Sailing back up the East coast this Spring!!! Sail on Sailors!
Nice. Love how this channel is developing. Keep up the mix of sailing, scenery, life, drama, artistic camera use, informative...and hopefully some fun! Keep living the dream.
Thank you for sharing Taylor, loving your channel more with each video.. You are such an inspiration to me and so many and I wish you nothing but the best :)
You're doing great kiddo your video and editing are awesome lI learn more and more about this experience with each episode and learning a lot of history your doing great Taylor THANK YOU !!...
remember to use a safety line for yourself and for your equipment. it's a one time prevention for personal accident as well as the equipment that you use during your open water journey. slow down and do everything twice vs. once. be carefull Taylor. reality happens once and needs you to stop and take full control vs. what will people think in the recording vibe. i wish you continued success and hope that you will make a strong connection and land your boat and journey together when the time is right. all the best. good show and good journey. :) m.
Hey Taylor happy travels I was the first Harbor master at Barefoot yacht club in South Carolina. Good spot deep slips. Was a friendly to stay Coast Guard stayed with us. Enjoy the Carolinas and keep an eye out for Queen Ann's revenge. God bless
So proud of you Taylor. You have set goals and created your wonderful life. You have a great crew with Bobby. You are really gaining more sailing and mechanical skills, you’re becoming an experienced skipper. I am living vicariously through you (a little bit anyway lol).
I an so envious of both you and Bobbie. I know he is trying to recover from the hit from sailing south, but even with that, when he does get his boat back on the water, he will be sailing. And meanwhile, you are learning alot and experiencing more. Damn, you both lead good lives.
Brings back found memories. Back in the day, my wife and I left Corpus Christi Tx. and followed the gulf coast ICW from Corpus Christi to Apalachicola Florida. We went under many different kinds of bridges, some lifted and some rotated and some we went under. We saw all kinds of wildlife and boat/city stuff along the way. There were locks too, some were small and some were large. One in particular dumped us into the Mississippi river at New Orleans! Now that was a little scary...lots of traffic and we had to coordinate our plan with traffic control!! We were instructed how we were to travel down river to the next set of locks, eastbound. Eventually we reached the east bound locks and out of the river into the ICW once again...the whole experience was a little intimidating. Our 41ft. boat looked really small in that place!! But it was fun and memorable too. Be careful and be safe and you too will have a memorable trip!! Good luck!!
Darn Taylor, you are making me wanting to get another sailboat and start cruising again. I do miss the sea but after numerous years on the hard tending to family, these videos have me dreaming. I am jealous. Keep up your dream and it is so much fun watching your travels.
Taylor, put a safety on the back handle of the motor when you're installing it to the dingy. Tie it off to a cleat on SG then if you do drop it, not far to go to reel it back in,
Hey! the ICW in Chesapeake Va. (Great Bridge) tied up at the lock, hahaha. So many boats, so many delays drives us drivers crazy. That bridge right after the lock is "The Great Bridge" which is also the community's name. I live only 1.5 miles from there. A little extra for you here too... you just motored by the official 2nd battle of the Revolutionary War (US Historical site with Markers) just after the bridge somewhere on your left in the marshes. The Great Bridge is on a road called Battlefield blvd which was used at the time to transport pitch, which comes from pine trees (notice your drone footage), from the area up to the Ship Yards in Norfolk and Portsmouth. Knowing how vital pitch was to the King, some locals banded together and attacked the fort which guarded the original bridge there. The fort had 2 cannons and between 6-12 red coats manning it at the time. The battle lasted a couple hours and the locals were victorious. The result for the King was a crippling long delay in the finalization of several supply ships and warships being built in yards at the time. The locals never gave up control of the bridge throughout the war. Cool history when you think about it and you sailed right through it!
Great video, passed right by where I live. We boat the Norfolk/Chesapeake area of the ICW in the warmer months... You passed right by where we keep our boat not long before you got to the Great Bridge lock. Know the bridges and lock very well. Safe travels going South!
I just found your video & really enjoyed seeing you sail thru Norfolk & into the ICW. I live in Virginia Beach & have a boat docked in Newport News at mile marker one R/ Jim
Hi Taylor...Just a suggestion.. You might want to put a glass strainer on your fuel line as close to the tank as possible... just in case you have more junk on the bottom of your tank..... Also when you transfer your outboard motor to the dinky , always tie it with a hand line . The one on board the sail boat can keep a check on that line... Just a though , I tip my hat off to you dear... Wish you luck.
A beautifully filmed and edited episode although I was hoping to see a wee bit more of Norfolk (and the Wisconsin tour. 😉) Taylor, I think you have a poetic sensibility in filming, the way you linger on sunsets, birds in flight, just wind on the water is wonderful and unlike other sailing channels! Keep it going! Safe cruising to St Augustine.
@@TaylorsTravels Best footage of the ICW trip we have seen. We are planning to do it next fall and I am using it to show my wife what to expect. The cold looks bad but our motorsailer has a heated pilot house
We came down the ICW last January. It’s a bit boring after s. Carolina and we went outside til Amelia island. The rest has been most on the outside, with little stretches inside again. A great trip! We’re in the keys now but plan on going back north starting in February. Love to follow your trip! Lots of luck and happy ⛵️! 🤗🥰😎
Great episode Taylor. Pretty soon you'll have to pay close attention to the tide charts. I remember several sections of the ICW where I could only pass at high tide.
Hi Taylor ! 😀 I hate cold weather too......thats why I moved from n.y. To Florida 6 years ago. I live on ICW in st. Augustine........wave when you pass by.......unless you already passed me 🙃
Great video Taylor (and Bobby with the drone shots). It was great to see the ICW. My parents traveled down the ICW in the Fall of 1982 on there way to the Bahamas. I think they had a boat heater. I think it's something you might want to invest in. Being on a cold boat when it's damp is never fun and if it's raining it's even worse. Buddy boating is the way to go if anything happens. My parents grounded on two unmarked sand bars and had a bit of a struggle getting off them on their own.
You can get a small wood burner stove for your boat or invest in a diesel heater or you could always do it like my buddy did and go out to a truck graveyard and get the heater box and plumb it to the engine and just leave the engine idling and you'll get heat they come with it heat exchanger and the blower motors built right in
Taylor 1. Great editing as has been mentioned. 2. We usually stay in Portsmouth across from Waterside. Our daughter lives there, but I also like the marina better too. 3. Our mast, Grand Banks 49 is only 28 ft. but we've had to wait for that lift bridge as well. Just hope you never have to wait for the railroad bridge on the other side. It is NOT reliable! 4. Great Bridge Lock sometimes flows one way, sometimes the other depending on the state of the tide on the Norfolk side. It isolates the ICW in that area from the tide. 5. By now you're way past it, but I hope you enjoyed a HUGE prime rib at Coinjock. 6. In the America's Great Look Cruising Association there's a saying "Chasing 80," meaning looking for 80 degree weather. It sounds like that would suit you just fine. :-) David
Excellent "B roll" images. I like the way you allow the story to unfold from the video rather than providing voice-over for everything. It would be nice to have the sound of the boat moving through the water when you're under sail, without background music.
Wonderful episode Taylor ⛵️🦋💖 I was just wondering when you put the outboard motor in the dingy, I would put a safety rope on it just in case you lose your balance.😃💖⛵️🍹🍹🇦🇺🥂
... Yep, the "Dismal Swamp" can be dismal ... but it is awesomely beautiful ... you should try the ICW before "GPS/Chart Plotters" ... using ol' fashioned charts, a compass, a hand bearing compass and a stopwatch ... at 15 knots on a Sport Cruiser ... yep you needed to be on top of your navigation ... safe journey south ... I agree w/ staying inside this time of year around Hatteras ... from Norfolk south there is no "Safe Harbor/Inlet until Morehead City or Wilmington NC ... I like the decisions you are making !!!
Taylor and Bobby.... A deep water dock awaits you in Okatie SC as you sail down the ICW. Fair winds to you both!
Great video. Agree everyone wants to head south for the cold winter
This video was shot beautifully. Thank you for sharing your journey!
You two are a great pair, much better together!😎

I always feel your love and respect for the sea. This is not something, that can be taken for granted these days. Fair winds and following seas.
Absolutely love this video, gorgeous trip on the ICW! Congratulations on navigating your first locks LOL.

Nice episode. I have been curious about the intercoastal waterway for quite some time. Nice to see some of it. Thanks

Great photography and story telling
All of those Virginia shots are close to home. I cross the ICW every day. Can't miss that Waterside sign either
Thanks for the video and the updates on your travel journey-enjoy and be safe!!
A wonderful video of your navigation on the ICW
The ability to understand what these guys are saying on the radio , is worth mentioning...

Awesome video. I think it would be cool if you could insert a rough map of where you are during the video or a gps plot of the day. Happy sailing!
You guys do well together, no matter what boat you are on.
Another great video, content, narration and production.
Norfolk where I'm at. Just missed you. Love the channel :)
Like your travel. Interesting scenes. Many greetings from Germany!
Looks so cold up there. Cant wait till you are in warmer weather.
