GROCERIES His family is beloved in Quazakstan for decades of unpublicized no fanfare acts of charity individually and together. I recently watched an upload by a man across the street who recognized his Dad driving a large commercial van. He pulled up to the rear door of a home for the elderly. The entire family got out, including Dimash, unloaded and carried in, back and forth, an entire cargo load, a mountain of boxes and bags of groceries and left. I cannot tell you how I felt watching that quiet humble effort.

This song was written by Japanese singer-songwriter Yoko Tamaki. Years after this performance, Dimash sang the song under the name "Ikanaide" with the original Japanese lyrics for the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 live from a studio because there were still Corona restrictions in place. It is a masterpiece in ballad interpretation, even more emotional and dramatic as this one, and the ending is a total surprise giving everyone endless goosebumps. It is a must watch after this version.

Ikanaide tears me apart emotionally every time, simply because I knew the song before and understand the language (to some extent). Even though my last visit to Japan was over 25 years ago and I have forgotten a lot, Japan, its language, landscape and people will always have a very special place in my heart.
When I heard the Chinese version of Dimash, I always secretly wished he would sing the original Japanese lyrics. That wish was granted.
Dear Debbie, if you ever find the time and muse, please listen to Dimash's Japanese version. And Koji Tamaki's original is also incredibly beautiful.

Just one correction. The song was written by Koji Tamaki (lyrics by Goro Matsui, music by Koji Tamak) and first sang by him in 1989.

Daybreak is absolutely truly heartbreaking, another true story , but someone needs to recommend the best one, I think Bastau concert with subtitles, or a double reaction first from 2017 I Am Singer, because of the backstory and then Bastau Concert, that would be incredible, he was sick during the competition, he was unable to speak, this is why I suggest both❤

Oh and Koji Tamaki composed the music and Goro Masuri wrote the lyrics for Ikanaide., the original song. The producers of a joint Japanese/Chinese docudrama tv series about the Chinese born actress of Japanese heritage liked the melody of Ikanaide and had Daryl Yao write new Chinese lyrics for the theme song called Autumn Strong for the tv series. Dimash does a beautiful job interpreting each song with the intent of the two writers which is different.

I really glad that you took this song from Gloria Wu channel. She was a good friend of Dimash during the "I am Singer 2017" competition in China. By the way, I would also like to recommend Daybreak, performed by Dimash in The Singer 2017, the story behind this song is even sadder than the one you just reacted to, because it is in memory of some parents who sacrificed their lives to save their baby from two years, it's a true story, but the most impressive thing is that Dimash sang it while he was almost voiceless and he did it sublimely
I would also listen to his performance of Daybreak from the Bastau concert in 2017, after you listen to the Singer version that has additional story by Gloria Wu. In the Singer version, he was sick and couldn't perform all of the song as he would have liked to. But he sang anyway, and the pain in his voice from his illness adds to the emotion of the song. The Bastau version is more involved musically--he adds some amazing technical parts in a spectacular performance. You need to listen to them both, even if you don't react to them on screen here.
As others have posted, please listen to Dimash's studio version of this song in Japanese, Ikanaide. It is indeed a master class in vocal and performance techniques. And he's wearing a mighty nice sweater as well. And by all means take in Koji Tamaki's video as well. Koji Tamaki very much enjoyed Dimash's take on his song. Totally beside the point - I love your hair!

You know now this was the first song he sang in Mandarin. He was so grateful to his Chinese audience for welcoming him so warmly. He only had a week to learn the lyrics and the correct pronunciation. That was very important to him to thank his fans in this way. A really tough job. From the reaction of the audience you can see that he has mastered it with flying colors. Many Chinese reactors also said that his pronunciation was almost perfect. Autumn Strong is a song he always sings in his concerts. Every time it is always a very emotional moment.

I highliy recommend Adagio from the Singer Competition. It was the 6th performance. A really beautiful song. A song that Lara Fabian has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time I feel like I forget to breathe and then burst into tears. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance really hit me physically🤯. In this performance you can see that I’m not the only one. But please try not to stop the video too often. Especially in the end of the song. Otherwise you might lose the flow.
I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes in this performance. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂. As far as I know, for this song there is no behind the story video.

Dimash songs started to have copyright strike since January 2021. Prior to that there was none. So those older songs, you don’t have to worry.

This performance always reduces me to tears. Beautiful. You can blur the video or put writing across the screen, to help prevent blocking. Dears won't mind, as we've seen the videos and know what it is like. Just put the link to the original video, beneath. Concerts seem to be safer to React to. But Chinese and S Korean TV Shows are quite strict.
Similar to the emotion in this song, is his version of "Daybreak". It too is based on true events. A cable car accident left a little child an orphan. The woman (Han Hong) who wrote "Daybreak" adopted the Little child. (She performed it on Singer 2016).

Reactors have to deal with copyright strikes/blocks for Dimash's, as well as Chinese singer, Hua Chenyu's Chinese show performances. Especially on "Singer". (Not sure if you have seen Hua Chenyu, but many Dimash fans are Hua Chenyu fans). If not, try "Nunchucks" or "Child" or "I am what I am". 👍

Dimash has another version of this called "Ikainade" that he sings in Japanese . it is also beautiful - in the studio as he was unable visit Japan for the annual Jazz Festival because of Covid. Your shedding of tears is contagious! If you want to try another tearjerker go to "Daybreak", also a tragic story attached to it - learn that first. Dimash is one of my very favouriite people on the planet, aside from his music that I adore!

I used to love this version, until he released Ikanaide! In it's original form it comes to life and takes on a completely different personality. And the lyrics flow better in Ikanaide. Also the lyrics in Japanese were very natural and easy to pick up.
Both are brilliant though, and i love how the Chinese audience is brought to tears. Considering he had a week to learn this song in a complicated foreign language, he knocked it out the park!

This is one of THE most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. He also sings it in Japanese too called ikanaide which is just as beautiful but a little different too. Truly deserving of a reaction too

Even if you watch in your own time, check out autumn strong from the Kiev concert. He adds something extra special at the end. Also, Dimash has done a Japanese version of this song, called Ikenaide. He did a live stream from his home studio for the Tokyo Jazz festival, during covid times. It is unbelievable, To be so up close and personal. The words apparently are slightly different. Ikenaide means don’t go. It is in my top five performances from his amazing catalogue.

Yes, Dimash is an exceptional artist, who can touch our hearts in any language he chooses. He is also an exceptional young man and the world would be a better place if there were more like him. Who knew one of my favourite songs of all time would be sung in a Chinese language by a young Kazak man. My 65 yr old self is overwhelmed and horrified by the ignorance of my youth. This song is beautiful but so sorrowful. Dimash has performed this in Chinese and also sang the Japanese version (mildly different lyrics but the same melody) as Ikanaide. (Japanese Jazz Festival).
