Hill all the way! Most talented rider ever, and honestly, Greg sounds like a nightmare. It's not just whether you win in biking, it's how you win that makes you a legend. I would have thought that Lance taught everyone that lesson, but unfortunately not. Being a good human being should always come first. Also, I don't have any insider information, but the French guys seem a lot more congenial in behind the scenes films, and they have been eating everyone's lunch, for a while.
One of the things that impresses me about BK is him posting track walks and practice runs. Not like anyone who needs the lines is going to be able to execute them quicker than him so why be secretive and greedy.
I remember Ratboy complaining in an interview about how Minaar being a dick/not very funny teammate for quite long time. To me always looked like those F1 teams or MotoGP,your worst enemy is your box. It looks like the ultimate racer but maybe not the ultimate box partner. Minaar is an awesome rider to watch, maybe one the best of all times. I really enjoy when he smokes all those frenchi kids!!!
I don't know if it's just a south African thing, but heckling you'd younger competitors and team mates is par for the course. I have full respect for Greg Minnaar, yes he takes his racing seriously, but he has had to reinvent himself several times to stay at the top end of the field. In SA we like to win, just look at our rugby, being second best is for loosers. Sometimes being so competitive can come across as being an idiot, but I will never forget Shaun Palmer throwing his bike down the hill cause he had a flat. That guy must have been a tough team mate to have...my 2 cents
You close yourself off from others like that and no one will want to share their tips and tricks with you either. A true master doesn't just get by on trade secrets, they succeed based on superior execution. No disrespect, he's obviously an amazing athlete and one of the best ever. What if he could be even better and have directly pushed other riders' skills along with his own? IMO, humanity goes farther when collaborating.
@@KingLeoXV I agree, especially to be on a team with the hype machine that is Jackson goldstone, I think that by now he just learned to stop caring and realizes he's THE super star of the sport.
Minnaar might be the goat but I'm not sure he's ever had the same love from the fans as Peaty. Everyone loves Steve because he's a winner but completely relatable. Steve's story of a career long fight for that one world championship trumps Greg's systematic ticking off the wins for me. That's not to say I don't think Minnaar is an absolute legend though, just that maybe he got there by being a bit of a prick sometimes 😂
@@TheRideCompanion mhm, that's strange. I did not use any form of bad language. I just said, that Ratboy made similar comments about Minnaar as Brandon did. So for the record : Ratboy said in an interview after he retired, that minnaar would be the first one to leave you standing in the rain if its about his own fortune.
Minnaar is maybe a little comparable to Michael Jordan. His team mates didn't necessarily like him that much, the price he paid for being the best of all time.
I thoughts Red Bulls Fast Life went in that direction by the end. In much smaller scale of course. Bummer they canceled it. Could have become very interesting.
I prefer Gregs approach, it creates tension and makes you want to perform even better, If I were a racer of his caliber id keep my cards as close as possible.
Who would YOU rather be team mates with and why? Minaar or Hill?
Gotta be hill
Hill all day

What a fantastic conversation…You guys rock, thanks! ✌🏼❤️🍻
Appreciate you!
That’s so funny to hear Greg’s competitive nature. That’s why he is where he is at as a professional athlete.
Only if he truly has nothing to learn
Buzzing that you finally got Bren on, such a sick insight into racing
Thanks bud! Yes, I believe he's now the most regular guest...
Ah really? I’ve not been listening to any podcasts recently (yours included 😬), will have to go back through and have a binge
Minaar is a G in his own right , but Hill every time.
Greg's the best

Those syndicate episodes with Ratboy, Peaty and Minaar are the best.
I think gwin is the same
@@antrace92 Commencal certainly isn’t, they share everything within the team. And most successful

I wonder if he's still the same type of teammate. It's been a long time since the Honda days and he's had plenty of teammates.

😂 loved this one!
So the same reason as to why "in justice for all" sounds like garbage?
New teammate gets pushed to bottom because old legends have the power
If you know, you know.

Sounds like a typical South African 🙄
Hahaha
We need a 'F1: Drive to Survive' type show for DH racing...
