Are you serious? I'm getting more videos on how Canada is one of the slowest growing economies out of the G7, because all the money is going towards the housing market... And we have less purchasing power with how inflation is going with meats and others.
Yeah real estate makes up a big part of the economy and its doubtful that will change anytime soon. The bigger issues at play which you sort of pointed out is the lack of real wage growth, the living standards and productivity.
Yep. We let communists take control of the country, and now its fucking infeasible to actually put money towards shit like ACTUAL FUCKING BUSINESSES. We have such a weak investment market, exclusively because you have LEGIONS upon LEGIONS of NPC's that get mad when a SMIDGEN of uncertainty is added to their future. We would rather have a deterministic but stagnant future, than a risky but prosperous one.
Per capita, Canada's economy shrank last year. Meaning: the population grew faster than the GDP, thanks to Trudeau's "million immigrants per year" plan.

Good video. That growth is artificial and Canada can't handle the social upheaval. Population bloat is leading to a housing crisis with prices and rents out of control, not to mention services not keeping up-thus more angry citizens.
The housing crisis is decades in the making. A few decades back the government pulled out of housing completely, which left housing completely to the private sector. The private sector limited itself only to luxury housing as regulations that squeezed out smaller businesses meant large corporations only wanted a larger return on investment. Those actually increasing housing wasn't on the table for decades. Also, large corporations and billionaires often buy land in Canada as investments, and rather increase the price. Again small businesses how no hope of competing against entities that size as even if they successfully get a house there ability to fix up a house or update it is limited. It is limited because if they actually want to sell it to someone who will use it to live in then their profit margins become very thin. However, wages haven't been keeping up with the rate corporations have been increasing prices for decades and thus buying a house becomes increasingly unlikely. The result is that small business now can only really sell that house to the large corporation or billionaire they were competing against in the first place. These corporations or billionaires will either leave the house empty, or destroy it. There is also an issue of zoning. With strict zoning and house owners obsession with increasing the value of their houses the zoning laws have limited the able to build anything beyond single family dwellings. Thus the actually speed we could increase housing is still very slow. Also, those zoning laws are really make for valuable investments for corporations and billionaires as those prices are only going up. Housing is not a priority for our 2 major parties, but the government is only ever those 2 parties because the voter base constantly thinks they'll be different this time. The parties will talk about housing, but neither really have any plans for the government to get back into the housing market, and start creating housing itself. So, more than likely we will be left with private entities making more luxury housing with government money as Canadian citizens are continually ignored. The best part is both major parties can do this as their votes aren't going anywhere. Both major parties could just continue to crash the economy and most voters would still probably just yo-yo between them.
The comment below is 100% on the nail correct, you’ve just fallen for classic racist xenophobic immigration propaganda, the US also had a huge population boom in the late 19th century and early 20th century from immigration , and guess what? They became a world superpower. Canada has gone through similar levels of immigration in the early 20th century as well and Canada is still standing today.
As a Canadian I don’t really like that our plan seem to boon the population with immigration. The cultural identity we have might get diluted to the point we won’t feel like we're living in the country we used to love. We can already feel it happening. Ideally we would grow from higher birth rate but it’s so hard to live these days, a lot of people can’t afford having kids
Man have you been to Toronto lately it feels like India, it’s crazy, I get that we need immigration, but to me it feels like I’m getting my country I love and care for taken away and give to some people who do not care about it. It’s truly sad
@@Marcuswintorpe Thats because over 70% of the immigrants coming to Canada go to Toronto. Which is a failing of OUR government unable to allocate the inflow to needed locations. You shouldnt assume the largest city in our country reflects the rest of it, or that these people arent immeasurably grateful to live here because they dont act like you.
So Vancouver is currently less than three million and already having a crisis because there is no more space for the city to grow, and citizens refuse to allow development in their communities. Yet the liberal regime insists that this city can accommodate 12 million. I would love to hear the “plan” that the minister of housing has in place to make that happen.
Exactly. There isn't even much more room in the Greater Vancouver area to expand since it's a mountainous region. If they got rid of all the farms and made it all urban area, I might believe Metro Vancouver can double its current area. But increasing the population from under 3 million to 12 million?!? ROFL!
@@pineapplesareyummy6352 Theres plenty of space. Its just the government is too inept to actually build apartments and high density housing. The end result is about as expected as you wouldv thought. Endless suburbs and zero high density cheap apartments to house people who jsut want to live.
I live in Nova Scotia, which is a small province, but we are even seeing the impact here. Halifax has grown so much since I was a kid it’s insane. I just got back from Vancouver and my family out there said the city has grown so much in their lifetime. My brother lives in Montreal and it’s the same there. So many people are coming into Canada, but there is no housing and no where to go… something has to happen to fix this.
Bottom line.....immigration is a "bandaid" solution around a long term structural problem...that is UNPRODUCTIVITY. The "100 million population by 2100" is not going to happen, barring unforeseen worldwide disasters. Our current government is following the WEF goal to be the world's first "post nationalistic state". We are not getting the full picture of our economy, with its decling R&D, housing becoming a larger portion of GDP. Standards of living are dropping, we are at par with the state of Alabama on GDP per capita. Nor have we received the full picture as to how many of the 500K new immigrants per year are in a skill category that is desperately needed (healthcare, skilled trades). Insistence on family reunification may not involve additional skilled workers, but either children or elderly who need to consume more HC and education resourecs. The government could at least have considered incentivizing older workers to stay active in the workforce. PLus more automatization and spending $ on new tools to make workers more productive. Not happening with the current government.
It's even more of a bandaid solution for low fertility rates, and a very bad one because immigrants, once they come to Canada, start reproducing the same fertility patterns (even if in their home country, on average, they would have 8 kids, they will have 1 or 2 in Canada) because the reason behind them is not cultural but (mostly) economic. So, the more people you invite, the more burden you put on the future young generations in terms of supporting the retirees through taxation. And, once started, you cannot stop it, it just snowballs because the moment you stop, you have to immediately place this burden on the young generation, and no government wants to do it on its watch as it will make all of its members unreelectable (and universally hated)
@@wllywaliyEven worse, a significant chunk of it is from real estate speculation, which inflates the GDP but does not benefit people (in fact, it probably makes them poorer). Alabama probably doesn't have the same issue...
@@wllywaliywhy? Our average per capita GDP is basically the same as their median GDP state? Alabama has the 27th highest per capita GDP of US states. Compare it to other similar sized western economies and you will see it’s all relative.
This is horrendous. Vancouver has already become a worse place to live since 1997 with their 30% population increase. The infrastructure hasn't kept up. Still only have the single lane Lions Gate Bridge and the twin lane Second Narrows bridge. Getting to and from the North Shore has turned into a very painful experience. The only noticeable infrastructure improvement in almost 30 years has only been the construction of the Canada Line. Not a single expansion of existing bridges let alone any new bridges or tunnels. The Knight Street bridge looks like its going to fall apart at any time. I'm making my exit plan before things get even worse.
Pattulo has just been widened, trucking is now to S. Surrey from the border, Delta Port by-pass done to Langley, and the north shore??? It doesn't WANT convenience and that's why there's no shelters there open until minus 5 C. (which is rare) and no direct transit to the shore (same reason). I came in 78 and there was ONE tunnel and ONE bridge. Infratstructure? Go to Calgary or any other city and see how screwed up it is, but for God's sake don't go to Seattle (Vancouver, with no class, no style, and unlimited guns and ammo. and overweight hookers in every driveway on Aurora. Sold our Edmonds house builds just in time.
worst place to live compared to what? It's expensive sure, and infrastructure could be better but vancouver is still one of the best cities in the world. It's far better than toronto or hell on earth (i.e new york) in terms of climate, environment, comfort, nature...
You're leaving Vancouver because of the traffic problems? You are demanding the construction of more bridges? You do know that Vancouver is on the ocean, and surrounded by mountains, which means the land available for construction is limited. Not only that, it is divided by bodies of water, making bridges or tunnels necessary. That has always been the geography of Vancouver. Nothing new there. So why do you want to leave now? If you want more infrastructure, you should talk to your politicians and your neighbours and get some political pressure going. But remember -- it costs a lot of money.
So, what you are saying is that a group of autocratic elites decided around 2009 that Canada needed 100 million people by the year 2100. They never discussed it with Canadians and Canadians never voted on it. The problem therefore is not the declining birth rate, not the geography and not the infrastructure; the problem is that someone other than the citizens decided upon our behalf. This POLICY needs to be immediately reversed. It is not the Canada that any of we citizens want or had hoped for. With a 250% growth in population, Canada cannot support that growth without an extreme drop in the standard of living, not only for the 40 million Canadians that are already here, but also for the 60 million new Canadians that have been invited.
The aging population and declining birthrate is absolutely a problem. The boomers was the largest generation amd noe they are all retireing which means they will require tax dollars for their retirement for the rapidly increasing need for healthcare yet they prodice nothing. Now gen X is aging amd reaching retirement as well there isnt enough millenials and zillenial tax dollars due to a low birth rate to pay for boomer and gen xs expenses so the government brings in new workers to keep the house of cards afloat just passing the buck off to the next generation until it all comes crashing down.
@@thrash208: every country on the planet is suffering from that same problem and immigration, although it is part of a solution, cannot be the be and end all solution. You have to encourage internal population growth as well, through promotion of family values, promotion of motherhood as a worthwhile career path choice, help out the economy so that people can survive again on 1 to 1 and a half incomes instead of needing 2 full incomes, just to survive. Immigration is great, but you have to be selective; you can't just open the flood gates, which is what Canada has done. We need to 1) secure our borders (including legal points of entry) 2) implement a moratorium and re-write the rules to solely benefit Canada and Canadians, instead of bowing down to all the bleeding heart humanitarian groups that apply pressure to the government 3) start implementing a sense of nationalism in Canada again, like in used to be in the 50's and 60's. My point was simply that Canadians were and are so apathetic regarding our politics that we allowed an elitist group to dictate what their view of Canada should be for the next 100 years.Everyday ordinary Canadians should have been deciding that.

As someone who spent elementary in Ontario and grew up in the USA I 've never understood the outright HOSTILE relationship between medical in Alberta (did two work tours) and education and govt. in BC. Neither province teaches social studies and citizenship responsibility as in the UsA (ok, that was forty years ago and I know the USA is NOT the place I grew up in, and that part makes me sad). We can do better in Canada, and we will.
Its growing in population but GDP per capita is crashing and canada is falling behind badly. GDP per capita is a much better indicator of quality of life that GDP.
Ponzi scheme is the perfect word. Right now these immigrants could be a litteral goldmine though for our country. (as long as their diverse, and not all from a singular country) We are on the very precipice of a 1950's type baby boom. But Trudeau loves micromanaging this country thru the federal government. Realistically we should be slashing regulations left and right, and making it insanely easy for people to startup whatever business they want. We should make our capital gains taxes almost zero, and add in mechanisms to allow other countries to invest in our domestic industries.
It's not 500,000. When you include "international students", it's over 1.2 million a year right now, and growing. Our postsecondary education system has turned into a giant scam that brings hundreds of thousands of people a year just to take a course on Excel in a strip mall while working 80 hours a week at Wal-Mart and living 4 to a room.
Back when I was in college (15-20 years ago) I remember being told that Canada was actually more strict about who they allowed to immigrate into the country than the U.S. That is, they screened for immigrants who had usable skills. Was this really true? Is Canada planning to offer incentives for couples to have children, as are some other countries?
Yeah they do screen immigrants with usable skills but also take in a ton of refugees, asylum seekers in the midst of a persistent housing shortage. Just recently there was news about Toronto being overflow with refugees. As for incentives, there is a child tax benefit (monthly payment to help raise a kid) but that's about it.
There is a difference. For example, in tech Rice University has much smaller intake than Georgia Tech, but GT is much higher in ranking and quality. The reason of lower intake does not mean they are better, but how much resources department or school has. US has much more mature economy of its own, multiple tech hubs, infrastructure and jobs to host all the people. Canada was developed like a colony with few cities, small economy which is suitable for low population. I studied at a college town in US, which had much more apartments than some of big neighborhood in Canada town near colleges. US is covered by whole mass of interstate highways, while Canada just has one highway connecting the country. US economy is driven by tech and innovation, whereas Canada economy is dependent on immigration, real estate bought by corrupt politicians/army in developing world to whitewash their black money or rich Chinese trying to save money from CCP and lastly selling its natural resources. Even in tech, Canadian tech is dominated by almost all US companies. They pay the highest salaries in tech. Also, Canadian weather has little to do with poor infrastructure. Even Australia has same issue, despite no snow as it was also developed like a colony.
You are correct. Canada had one of the strictest immigration policies in the world. But due to the ineptitude of government and the sell out of Canadian resources to other countries then the total refusal by both ruling parties to support Canadian industries, Canada began its decline. The government then put all its hope in oil which failed. Then needing jobs increasing immigration was the governments answer to that problem. Again it failed. So the government put tax dollars into housing and what you see today is the disaster created by government by continually refusing to invest in Canadian industries and technology. All this actually started under Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in the 1950"s. Canada has gone down hill ever since. The Canadian government DOES NOT support it own people.
The US immigration policy is mostly "family unity based" with high skilled labor being a smaller category. Once somebody becomes a citizen they can put their siblings on a waiting list.
With the acceptance of so many new people, just over the past five years, really puts a strain on the health care system, government services and of course housing shortages. From the video I think the numbers added up to 1.5 million immigrants in 4 years.
Just did my first Intensive Care unit visit for three weeks: the caregivers ? Half are from Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, and know what they doing and are under 30. Those are the ones we went. If you worked in the corporate world, especially in IT, you will know why. Their accents are very hard to understand compared to other countries that speak English. A lot of times they just put added stress to workers since they are very strict (good or bad thing) and they like to micro manage. Why do the comments and the narration above goes opposite direction ? I see Housing crisis, Job crisis from people residing in canada and Job vaccancies / Labour shortage from the government. Is this because of the centralization of the population in the Lower Ontario belt ?
Time to put the brakes on immigration until we as a country can absorb them. But do we really need all these new people? Truly do we? Fifty years ago we did just fine without a massive population. Ontario wants more housing but seems to have blinders on when it comes where they want to build them. Destroying even more arable land just doesn’t make sense. If a road is built to the Ring of Fire then why not develop a northern population hub along that road? No arable land destroyed - a bonus. Population near the site of employment, not just mineral development. There are enough people now crammed into the GTA. Some businesses could be re-located to this new area quite quickly and be functional in a short period of time and be profitable. The road would be there, so would be the new homes and thusly fire stations, police services and groceries, maybe even the new 30,000 seat Doug Ford Recreation Centre. If Yellowknife can exist in a similar manner so can a new city north of the Trans Canada Highway. Now less arable land being destroyed outside the GTA is a definite bonus for obvious reasons. Less concentrated population means a more efficient distribution of services, better crime control and for the government another hub just prime for increased bureaucracy. Let’s face it, it’s a win-win situation.
Interesting suggestion. One question arises: who would go live in a northern hub? Can we for d newcomers to live and work there, including Healthcare professionals?
@@williamwatts4790 Well a simple answer would be who went to Yellowknife to live? Initially a gold mining hub it late in the sixties I think quickly morphed into a Federal government town now a city. Many of those Federal workers came from Ottawa. Simple choice. Want to work or not. It worked and can again. For migrants it would be an equally simple question. Draconian perhaps but move to a brand new town or face the one way ticket out of town. I know the bleeding heart liberals in society will cringe and squirm but sometimes there are hard choices to be made. Not for everyone but Yellowknife has evolved into a small cosmopolitan city with employment opportunities and big city amenities. Is it cold? Yup but a ride up the ice road in winter is great and if with friends can be topped off by a tailgate lunch before returning to the “warm” south of Yellowknife and a feast perhaps of musk ox or caribou. Can’t beat it!

At the severe distress to us Canadians there’s to many people the cost of living is too high the influx of people makes it so there’s almost no jobs and we are overtaxed and our economy is terrible
You exaggerate. Canada is the 2nd largest country on earth, and we have less than half the population of a small country like Viet Nam. The cost of living is too high? Let's make the food companies and the others lower their prices! They are making out like bandits, with high profits from their high prices. Our taxes are not that high. Other countries have higher taxes and are doing well. If Canada's economy is so terrible, why did 1 million new immigrants come here last year? They came because Canada is a land of opportunity.
The growth in population is clearly happening based on statistics but I suppose it depends where exactly of Canada you live in, it can be more or less visible
Back in the 80s I met two guys in my soccer team . Both had been in jail in Florida when they apply to come to Canada . They told me that a Canadian immigration official had granted them a permanent resident visa to be here .. They are now Canadian Citizen .. I was very surprise to know how the immigration department would bring such individuals . Now i know the reason behind why they bring them is because Nobody in the right mind would come here to get old in this winters
Tent cities popping up in every city, town, and village. Food banks overrun. Hospitals all but inaccessible. Wages going down. Food prices skyrocketing. Housing prices skyrocketing. All to plan.
For 2:30 Nobody is going to volunteerily move to the north of Canada, not unless they get $$$$ for their job to move. Why? 1.) It's cold, really cold. 2.) It's cold, and expensive. $$$$ Yes, housing prices are cheaper, but electricity (heat) and food bills are much much higher than Toronto, which even though housing/rent is cheaper, makes them almost the same price in the long run. (High electricity/heat prices because it is winter/cold 8/12 months/year. And high foods prices, like a jug of milk being $10 or a block of cheese being $15 because food trucks have to drive from the USA all the way up north). I'd like to add that most aboriginals who were moved from Quebec to the north in the 1950's were FORCED. (I took an aboriginal history class and this is what my teacher told me). They didn't volunteerily move to the north, they were kicked out from their homes and forced to go. Then, on top of that, the government/whoever was in charge of the moving plan was like, "Welp, here we are in the snow. There isn't any plumbing, or housing yet...You guys will have to build your homes from scratch, dirt and snow, etc, for now. Learn to live off the land by yourselves as you go, be resourceful. Anywhoo, I got to go back down to Quebec and make some tea and bundle up cause I'm cold. Bye! Good luck in your new homeland!" and then they flew away. So yeah, nobody will go north unless $$$$.
The thing is that all the jobs and opportunities are all in a small handful of cities, so those hundreds of thousands of immigrants are moving into these few cities and the housing just keeps going up and up.
I wish the government would focus more on growing cities. Toronto Montreal and Vancouver are already mega metropolises, increasing their population by 300% isn't going to help anyone. What if major public work projects were massively subsidized for Kelowna, Saskatoon, Brandon, etc?
So many inaccuracies in this video. The big spike in population growth is NOT because the Century Initiative (100 million people by 2100) has been adopted by the Federal Government but to get the working age to retired ratio down as quickly as possible so our pension system doesn't collapse in 15+ years. It's also due to industry heavily lobbying government to help fill a large and growing labour shortage. Inability to fill vacancies is stunting economic growth. And the replacement birth rate isn't 2.0, it's 2.1.
All the nations of the capitalist countries are experiencing a downturn in their economy and rising costs for commodities and housing issues. I suspect that the pandemic has a good deal to do with this. All of these issues are minor compared to what our economy etc. will suffer if we don’t reduce our co2 emissions . And all the nations of our spaceship will suffer albeit to different degrees.
Unlikely to be reduced anytime soon. The government puts Canadians under a lot of pressure to reduce emissions but Canada's contribution is relatively small and therefore will have little impact.
And Stats Canada should keep statistics on follow-up on immigration. I should be able to go to stats can and sort the info in the following detail: 1) date of entry 2) type of entry 3) number of individuals on entry 4) professional qualifications if any 5) country of origin 6) type of employment found by all entrants 5yrs. since entry 7) social services usage by all entrants 5 yrs. since entry.
Canada followed the American model for decades: once you hit 26 your were on your own education wise, UNLESS you were a new arrival. My Broker hired two guys in 2000 (one from China, one from El Salvador) that the country had spent huge coin upgrading, (60,000 EACH ) only to have ME raise their skill set. Around 2000 Canada Federal FINALLY began to understand Life Long Learning as a concept and I used it to upgrade First Aid, Eng. building, Safety, etc. "Farewell" is granted to newcomers for five years without audit, compared to Canadians. in the early nineties job change 40 plus friends of mine were being interviewed by their daughters' age welfare workers, who were good at saying NO. if you have worked all your life, you were on your own. There was no AWARENESS with people with govt. jobs that industries could change forever. Now with the net that's improved.
I worked 30 years like eng. in Canada until 68 years and my pension CPP is no more than 1050$/month and old security pension 430$/month begining at 70 years old. Now I have 72 years old. If you work/means no work, lazy, to government the pension will be sky is limit. Shame for canadian government. All the taxes are high and these are a lot. The Canada has 1.000 miliard $ to pay to the world banks. Canada needs more people to entry in country but the government is lazy.
Every time Canada build some initiative with tech companies, something terrible happens - we had Nortel, we had Blackberry, where are they now? However, our mining, lumber, and agriculture always do very well...
I think immigrants and more people would make our country a real player on the world stage, i just wish we had the houses and affordable living conditions to sustain it.
I appears that only the western provinces are habitable and good agricultural areas. I see that the land values will increase as people start to see and understand the prospects. 🤔
Canada's best agricultural land is actually in Sothern Ontario and the Saint Laurence river valley, but there is a limited amount and it is already fully developed. Western Canada will actually benefit from global warming as the increasing temperature makes farming profitable further north.
I notice an upset over immigration but not having skilled and willing labor force is worse than welcoming more people despite not having enough homes to house them. Another point is that there are actually enough houses that could be rented out, it's just that Canadians for the large part aren't willing to become landlords for privacy and convenience reasons, hence why every political campaign from now on is going to double down on boosting construction on a mass scale, I just don't know how so if building regulations can't really be changed and nothing can be fast tracked. We are in for a sour sour housing pickle, folks.
I'd buy many many houses and become a landlord if I could, but I work part time and can't even afford 1 house or small apartment. ( If I worked full time I wouldn't be able to afford it either)
@@specialtwice4975 then build your own, the cost of construction is $100 per square foot if you don't hire contractors. build yourself a 1000 sqft house and you won't have to pay mortgage, i really don't understand why people complain about, we still have cheap land across canada, just stay out of populated urban area and drive a bit farther away to and from work.
Completely missed international students. Near a million of them now, a huge increase. Being non-permanent, they are not counted as immigrants... yet. It seems international students are now the immigration stream of choice. Let them come in young, let them pay to learn how to effectively become Canadian, let them find work after they graduate, and *if they're successful in all this,* let them apply for permanent residence and citizenship. It's a great filter, way better than just the existing points system. International students are the way Canada intends to meet those 500,000 immigrant targets in a few years. Not going to argue pro verses con... I'm pretty heavy pro-immigration, but you have to go in to this knowing all the details. Right now, there is a big increase in international student enrolment on top of those high immigration numbers. It's not 40 million, it's 41 million looking for housing and all the rest. It's causing issues. But, considering all the Covid damage to the economy, some frothy economic activity is a lot better than the alternatives. Politically, high immigration via students is an obvious choice for any centre-leaning government. That demographic chart is why... old people vote. Yeah, some of them will vote against immigrants no matter what, but those are the ones that would never vote for said centre-leaning government anyway. The votes that matter are the ones that will get angry if their government pensions don't keep up with inflation, that don't get the healthcare they need, that can't get into subsidized assisted living places, or get lousy understaffed service anywhere. If you want to keep up those services, you need a growing economy. The only way to do that is immigration, hard and fast. There are a lot of people that will be retiring over the next few years. Keeping them happy is job #1 for any government that wants to stay in power.
We literally import our population these days, yet still, 90% of citizens live on 10% of the land. We are, and always will be a pretender. We fall in to that kinda/sorta first world country...
Go to govt sites or better yet buisness models i do not find 0.78% spectacular, our gdp is trending negatve. The emmigration has been increasing since 2017.
The target of 100 m seems to make sense. It's just the natural growth of our country, I'm 14 generation French Canadian. When my family came in, there was nothing, and that land accepted them. I don't see why the land could not accept more.
Trudeau loves micromanaging everything through the federal government. Letting people actually build their communities and do what they want, is a foreign concept to him. Canadians nowadays have a panic attack if theres an ounce of uncertainty in our countries future.
I'm sorry but I can't see this 100 million by 2100 happening. Right now, good jobs are scare as it is. There are many immigrants in retail/fast food, and that's fine, but there aren't many jobs left over for MORE new people. What I'm trying to say is, there is already a struggle for retail jobs and the people already here, it's Canadians vs immigrants trying to apply for the same job, and now they want to bring in MORE? With what jobs? Will there be new jobs too? Will more people fight for 1 spot/opening? Unless Canada creates 500,000 or more new jobs each year with their bring people in plan, then it's only going to get worse. Currently: 1 tim Hortons job= 1 Canadian, 1 immigrant already here. 2025: add 2 new immigrants to wanting that opening. Between the 4, who will get the 1 job? There is only 1 job available! Madness. 2.) Housing. Young Canadians these days can't afford housing (whether single or a couple), and current immigrants only can buy housing by living with family (grandma, grandpa, 2 parents, college age, and 2 high school students all in 1 house). How can future new comers afford to buy housing in housing market? I hope they are rich or bring 1 million Canadian dollars with them because I don't see how they can buy housing too.
It's completely ridiculous. I cried in 2015 when Trudeau was elected. I knew then that it was the beginning of the end and I've been proved right ever since.
Our economy isn’t doing that well. Basically we are in a debt and interest rate is low and housing.
Add the private debt to 3 levels of public debt = Canada the most indebted in the world.

We are all fucked. Canada is a 3rd world country now.

Before all the pakis were brought in
Stop mass immigration and life gets better almost immediately. Pretty simple math really.🤦🏻♂️

So much unfounded fear. Minor issues and challenges will be faced. No big deal.
It's called killing the Golden goose!
Immigration is literally our culture, and the only thing keeping the country afloat.
That's Trudeau's plan. Destroy British cultural history of Canada
Man have you been to Toronto lately it feels like India, it’s crazy, I get that we need immigration, but to me it feels like I’m getting my country I love and care for taken away and give to some people who do not care about it. It’s truly sad

The fact that our GDP per capita is the same as Alabama is shocking 😳

As an American who got PR last year with my family in Canada I would like to say THANK YOU CANADA!
Good plan, maybe you can relocate to India, and fill the void.
It literally rains all the time in Vancouver, is full of non-English speaking immigrants and crack heads. Vancouver is a shit hole.
500 000 immigrants per year is sadly way too much. And is resulting in skyrocketing house prices.
All this to keep the pension ponzi scheme going.
Ponzi scheme is the perfect word.
Right now these immigrants could be a litteral goldmine though for our country. (as long as their diverse, and not all from a singular country)
We are on the very precipice of a 1950's type baby boom.

Was this really true? Is Canada planning to offer incentives for couples to have children, as are some other countries?
Yeah they do screen immigrants with usable skills but also take in a ton of refugees, asylum seekers in the midst of
a persistent housing shortage.

100 million by 2100 thank God I will be dead
Perfect
Makes sense
People saying Canada’s health system is broken , well it is slow but not broken . They do wonderful job in serving people despite the load .
I foresee insane growth in the next 50 years. Of all developed countries, Canada has the most potential in terms of space for people to live and access to fresh water
Canada went from one the greatest nations on earth to failing society.
Canada is nowhere even close to a “failing society”. Don’t believe such stupid things. Canada is going through a period of relative stagnation.
Story as old as time.
You let the communists run a country, and it turns into a failed shithole. Every single time, like clockwork.
it was never great. at best it was mid.
Yea and it only took Shanghai to buil a city in 20 years
@@k123dev hell no i cant afford shit because of this economic crisis, i havent been going to any expensive retails only wholesalers even then a lot of my necessities have gone up more than 50%. i live around downsview i dont live in a house i rent yet i can barely afford a 1 bed room which is only 500 sq feet im seriously thinking about moving back to my parents because i cant afford dude another thing is crime where it seems to be happening everywhere in the ttc and even close to my work no way this country is going through relative stagnation NO it is really going through a failing society i cant deal with this "woke stuff" i really regret not voting at all, you really have a out of touch worldview especially around canada and considering that your saying that canada is going through relative stagnation you probably have a comfortable life maybe you live in a house I would glady change lives with you because you have no idea what stress there is to us working class canadians not only that but there has to be much blame to canada's problems to the government it really starts from the top and trudeau and his liberals needs to go
Excellently presented and informative!
Thanks!
I have always welcomed immigration and enjoy hearing about people who have succeeded and enriched our country but I detest people who come here to commit crimes and take advantage of our generosity, THAT PISSES ME OFF!!!!!
well done research! very informative😎😎
If your grandchildren and great grandchildren don't like high density populations they can move to Newfoundland, the island should be completely empty of people long before 2100.
It won't be completely empty. I'm going to move there LOL
go somewhere else, we're full
(before you say how big we are remember how much land is unusable and that 99% of immigrants land in massive metropolitan areas like toronto, montreal, or vancouver. more voting blocs for trudeau amirite???)
Because Justin Trudeau wants it to.
Well done.
Thanks!
I live in canada, tbh i dont see any growth you are talking about
The growth in population is clearly happening based on statistics but I suppose it depends where exactly of Canada you live in, it can be more or less visible
Now i know the reason behind why they bring them is because Nobody in the right mind would come here to get old in this winters
so leave !
These folks have no place to live and making it extremely difficult for the people already here to afford homes.
Someone has to keep real estate unaffordable
Tent cities popping up in every city, town, and village. Food banks overrun. Hospitals all but inaccessible. Wages going down. Food prices skyrocketing. Housing prices skyrocketing. All to plan.
Canada needs to focus on empowering its existing population!
I know what this means but it sounds hella white supremacy-y
It’s growing too fast.
You might want to ask why the govt feels the need for gun registration now that all these new people are here.
Very good. Thanks a lot. Paying $69 a month for internet, I'm gratified that some quality information like this comes out of it.
Glad it was helpful!
For 2:30
Nobody is going to volunteerily move to the north of Canada, not unless they get $$$$ for their job to move.
Why?
1.) It's cold, really cold.
2.) It's cold, and expensive. $$$$
Yes, housing prices are cheaper, but electricity (heat) and food bills are much much higher than Toronto, which even though housing/rent is cheaper, makes them almost the same price in the long run.
Very interesting research-based video
Thanks!
politically researched
Economy wise, were declining at a rapid pace
The thing is that all the jobs and opportunities are all in a small handful of cities, so those hundreds of thousands of immigrants are moving into these few cities and the housing just keeps going up and up.
I guess that's why stores are out of everything and you have to line up for EVERYTHING!!!!
I'm Canadian, and I'm saddened by this.
Good video for an overall view of Canada's population. I would rephrase the video to "Geopolitics and Geography of Canada's population growth."
and were full we have no more housing for them
Pay is no good in Canada
All the nations of the capitalist countries are experiencing a downturn in their economy and rising costs for commodities and housing issues. I suspect that the pandemic has a good deal to do with this. All of these issues are minor compared to what our economy etc. will suffer if we don’t reduce our co2 emissions . And all the nations of our spaceship will suffer albeit to different degrees.
Unlikely to be reduced anytime soon. The government puts Canadians under a lot of pressure to reduce emissions but Canada's contribution is relatively small and therefore will have little impact.
Correction the population isn't growing fast, It's growing at light speed!
Huge population means cheap labor. And when have to fight for survival you don't have time to fight for your rights.
Every time Canada build some initiative with tech companies, something terrible happens - we had Nortel, we had Blackberry, where are they now?
However, our mining, lumber, and agriculture always do very well...
We still have an over-achieving tech sector
forced out by the Americans and something called Nafta
they get bought by bigger companies.
It is so damn cold in the prairies, and Alberta will run out of money once oil wells stop working
50 million would be enough.
We need to stop saying "welcoming" immigrants. The term is ACCEPTING immigrants
40 million or 100million people in a world is very few in a world of 8billion. We
We are on a huge bubble it’s about to pop and get UGLY #ftrudaeu
REMOVE BACKGROUND MUSIC !!
Canada is india 2.0
At least the food is a lot better now
way too many Indian people moving too Canada.
Currently:
1 tim Hortons job= 1 Canadian, 1 immigrant already here.
Canada = India 2.0
Unfortunate truth!
Canada uses Newcomers to pay pensions of old Europeans through tax
Restrict access to cholesterol medications and that problem will be solved soon enough.
It's completely ridiculous. I cried in 2015 when Trudeau was elected. I knew then that it was the beginning of the end and I've been proved right ever since.
