The clear plastic dial face could be made more clearer with an automotive headlight cleaning kit. Try some buffing compound on a lint free rag. Maybe a coat of Pledge restore would help after that.😎 Check transistors in detection circuitry, one is open!
I think this is a good restoration (clean up). Its better to keep the originality as much as possible. However, the electronics seemed to have been left untouched as radio doesn't play.
This is not a restoration its just a clean up and a bad one at that you only have to look at the muck on the circuit board to see this. A restoration would have made this look like new.
Looks like it is stone cold dead. It needs full electronic restoration. Likely new resisters and caps. The dial plastic is clouded and likely could be restored, made clear once again. It would be nice to see a complete restoration.
Too bad it didn't work after all that. I have a radio about that vintage that I use every day. It's AM/FM, but no short wave. Works almost good as new. Volume control is just a little bit noisy, but not bad considering it lives in the bathroom. I listen to it while I shower and shave. It's a General Electric model 7-2880B.
Actually there is a fix for that. Buy some electrical contact cleaner and spray the switches and volume controller (potentiometer) and that will clean them and the scratchy noise will be gone.
I have under shelf mount radio and it is also scratchy but the biggest problem is the string to move the parts for the dial and change the station slips I need a fix for that problem . Thank you if you have any suggestions.
good restoration , thanks for you, I had one the same like this in 1979 . that time was full of love among the people , neighbors , friends and relatives . I longed for those days when there weren't envy and evil , so what can I say about that beautiful time !! ?? I wish and hope it will return , but the days went by and left us very quickly . thanks a lot for you all my readers from every where in world.

Excuse me , I have national Panasonic r-100 radio 1968 model . AF stage is OK , I changed all electrolyte capacitor . Checked all pnp transistor but not working . What i can do ? Are you have any idea ? Please tell me . Thanks
Find out the original scheme, clean with a brush with isopropyl alcohol circuit board, measure the voltages given in the schematic. Check the continuity of the tracks, the coils are not interrupted and capacitors in short . Check the switches to work well. Take care of the variabile capacitor ,it is a fragile component.
@@marceltartan4747 Thanks for your reply . 4 hours before I received schematic diagram from radiomusiem . Now I am studying after that once again I will try , try , try ! I born in 1968 , this radio manufactured year is 1968 . So I hope . There is pre Amp , 1st af Amp , 2nd af Amp , 3rd af Amp , driver Amp . Amplification circuit is working , IF Amp side is something problem . Anyway thanks for your reply . I am from Tamil Nadu / India . Nationality --Tamilan Citizen --Indian

Wow! Awesome Radio! 😯👌👆🙏

Get Arm and Hammer baking soda toothpaste and a rag and polish the dial display plastic.
Yep. Was getting ready to comment, asking why he didn't polish the plastic. Otherwise, he cleaned it well.
good job
Why was there no sound at the end of the video?
Ses borec klobouk dolů tady býti lidi urhali ruce ahoj
There are different perceptions of restoration. This is more of cleaning up as electronics have not been restored.

i've got a very similar model to yours, but all the knobs and switches make crackling scratchy sound when turned, is there a fix for that?
Actually there is a fix for that. Buy some electrical contact cleaner and spray the switches and volume controller (potentiometer) and that will clean them and the scratchy noise will be gone.

its not a restoration - just cleaning
What do you think restore means...to rejuvenate ...exactly what I saw here.
Cleaning is cleaning restore is replace parts.on the pcb
Restoration?!
Vay bo cua Minh la dai gia a nha Minh cung co mot cai nhu vay.
Why not just put it in the dishwasher? :O)
No sound just make up
Restoration is everything I believe not just facial
Modifed DC12V USB SD CARD SLOT MP3 PLAYER and RECORDER FM RADIO AUX input and output Bluetooth
