I have a memory from when I was just over a year old of our flight from Hawaii to the continental US. In my teens I was telling my mom about a flight on a large plane and a stewardess talking to my parents and then leaving and my mom was pointing out over a body of water. My mom was extremely confused for quite a while b/c we hadn’t been on a plane since leaving Hawaii. Then she realized that event was from sometime in early June 1977 when we were moving to Florida…. So, yeah, some people have memories from that age, believe it or not… 😁 I’m really enjoying this series. Saw the interview w/ LongForTruth. Keep this up. I came over from the Word of Faith movement, and I’m so fascinated w/ learning the Truth of the Gospel of Christ.

I, too, I'm forwarding this to as many people as I know. I was brought up in this charismatic lie and everyone I have ever attended church with believes these same lies. It's very difficult for most people to accept that they were involved in a cult. They get more offended than non-believers when they first hear the Gospel.
It is incredible. To know how widespread the apostate church is and that doesn’t even count the other Cults, Mormonism Latter Day Saints Jehovah witnesses Catholics. Buddhist. And how can we forget Muslims. I believe the approach is to ask questions because just spewing out the information that’s going to break their heart and they will shut their ears and eyes but if we ask them provoking questions for them to ask themselves then maybe we have a chance for them to be set free.
@@phyllislunsford8657 Yes, but it's not that surprising that Satan would come against people in the form of false gods. He knows that people have something inside them that wants to have a god. I read somewhere that they have never found a tribe, group, or any nation of people that did not have some form of spirituality.
I’ve Recently come across some accounts of the origin of the LDS Church..There seems to be bits and pieces of Joseph Smith-like stories woven in and out of Branham’s mythologies. I’m seeing several similarities between the two, even in the leanings toward justification of polygamy…the lack of value of women, and the supernatural visitation of wind rustling of the tree branches when both these characters were alone outside..with no witness to the events. JS also had miracles, and light and angelic visitations and prophesies spoken to and over him..Both believed that God himself, had conveyed to them that the Catholic Church was a source of evil and that God himself, was conveying to each of them, the one, true way of spirituality. Each of them were to be the one, true prophet to lead the entire world into truth! And lest we forget…a definite pattern of plagiarism woven throughout the stories of these two, dramatic actors!
When humans are emmersed in a belief that has 2 contradictory facts, humans will respond with a, " So what," response. Humans resist leaving something they enjoy.
I am so grateful so you guys are sharing this information with us. I came out of the charismatic church knowing something was wrong the entire time, but not being able to put my finger on it. I didn't realize I needed more fingers. Thank you guys!
I do have memories from around one and a half and two. I remember being set on a counter at my great aunt’s house in the mountains and there was a box of matches sitting on the counter. I was told to not touch them. However, I decided to strike one when the adults turned away for a minute. Burned a hole in my dress and my belly! Then I also remember when I was two getting Oreo cookies from my mom. I would lick out the cream and hide the chocolate cookies behind the sofa. Of course she found them. I remember at 2 1/2 going with my dad a grandma to pick my mother up from the hospital after my sister was born. I was actually next door and my dad called to see if I wanted to go. Of course I did! I also remember the first thing my mother did was let me hold the new baby in backseat of the car! I have quite a few other memories too from that age. But the things Branham says I wouldn’t believe a child of two could comprehend. I also remember watching Captain Kangaroo! Lol!
I find that so fascinating.. I honestly only remember bits and pieces of my life until probably 30… not sure what’s goin on there.. only a few memories here and there
@@scottyfleming2203 I think you must have been traumatized in some way. That’s sad. Although there is plenty of my childhood I wish I didn’t remember such as being molested by stepdad for 4 years and he and my mother fighting 24/7. The only time I don’t remember them fighting was when he was in Vietnam and when he was stationed in Germany. Not sure if I was just preoccupied as a young teen but I honestly don’t think they fought those two years. We had lots of people at our home all the time and that probably kept them occupied. Lol! But I really hate you don’t remember too much. Maybe it’s better you don’t.
@@ritadyer3770 yea that’s a good point. Maybe a way the brain protects us from trauma.. although I can say I didn’t go through what you did. I’m sorry you went through that. I love had a few coincussions as well. I don’t know it’s always been a mystery. I didn’t have the best childhood outside of my mom making us very happy as youngsters. Yeah probably for the best😁
@@scottyfleming2203 those concussions could have caused some memory loss. I had one a couple of years ago. Although I didn’t realize at the time that’s what it was. I had traded cars and gone from a Toyota van to a Nissan Sentra. So when I bent in to grab my phone to answer it, I hit my head really hard. It was about a 30 minute drive back home from where I was and I kept seeing flashing lights out of my eyes. I was a little scared but a concussion really didn’t register. But I ended up really sick for a few days. I probably should have gone to the dr. My husband hit his head really hard on the kids wooden swing set putting it together snd got a concussion. He was pretty sick too. But he waited a couple of weeks to tell me to call the dr. She just told him as long as he wasn’t throwing up he was fine. I don’t know what’s wrong with doctors! Hang in there
Hey guys, just wanted to make one clarification on this episode. William Branham's mother was still alive when he first told the story of pillar of fire coming down on the bed. He started telling that story about 1951/1952. But he only told it a few times and was out of town when he did. It was not until she died that he revised his life story book to include the story and began telling story back home in Jeffersonville. This point was not as clear as it could have been in this episode.
God bless you both. I’m praying for you. I don’t know anything about the Message but I’m a recovering charismatic so I get how hard it is to leave cults.
I remember things from age 2. One was of my stepfather teasing me with a lighter, telling me touch it. He was teasing. I was confused. I had been told to not play with fire, but this nice man kept telling me touch it, so I did. Ouch! He felt badly about it, as he did not think that I would do it. Duh! I also recall a vivid dream around that age where my sister and I were grown up and wore dresses made of "curtain material." I did not know the word for brocade.
The only time one might remember something happening early in life to themselves is when its a traumatic event .. the earliest memory I have is splitting my head open at age 3 yrs old.. i received 4 stitches..which I still have a scar.
I knew a family who listened to and were raised on Branham's tapes (late eighties). Prominent in the house were pictures of him, the halo one above the mantle. Six children, four girls two boys. All went completely feral. Two are dead from substance abuse. Legalism can lead to awful things.
I know a similar family and their oldest daughter ended up in jail. It is sad. But the good news is that she's gotten her life together and has a beautiful boy, that she gave birth to back then, so he's grown up by now. She's the only one in the family, as far as I know, who isn't in the cult. I would definitely say that getting out for her was super traumatic! I feel really sad she went through all that and I'm glad she is past that part of her life.
After having watched several of your podcasts, I read the William Branham chapter in Roberts Liardon's "God's Generals." My conclusion? Liardon's book is propaganda of North Korean proportions.
That would be the gourmet icing on this absolutely incredible and mind blowing cake, wouldn't it?? I really believe that if he did go to college, John and Charles will find the records!
The story told on william Branham's history: This fantastical story of Branham's background is evidence that humans love stories, especially fairytales.
If it wasn't for the destructive effects of his cult, I can imagine a movie poster showing three men with him in the middle, Al Capone on one side and Roy E Davis with his Klan Wizard white bed sheet costume on the other.😂😂 'The Messenger' wouldn't be so original for a movie title though.
I thought Darby and Scofield were bad, but I don't think anyone comes close to WMB as far as leading false prophet. I don't know how you still call him brother 🤔
I spent many years with the Plymouth Brethren. They had a smug feeling of superiority towards other Christians. They did not talk a lot about the Holy Spirit. Among those who married in the 1970's the divorce rate was higher than secular world.
I have to ask you John if it is you playing the mandolin at the end of your podcasts. if it is,very beautiful! And great work both of you on exposing the heresies of Branham.
Thank you so much John and Charles for making this!! It is so interesting and informative. I also saw you guys a couple of days ago on The Messed Up Church. That was a great video too. I want to ask about something you said in passing on that video, John. You said that by the time WMB said he was giving Leo Mecier and Gene Goad his prophesies to revise and update, he was losing his mental faculties. Do you have a link about that or more information? That really caught my attention, big time!! I don't mean at all to lower your and Charles' ministries to something like entertainment wrestling--WW something or other. But to to me John and Charles are the best tag team, working together, combining their resources, knowledge, and abilities as researchers and historian--you guys should both have the World Championship Belt!!!!
Very very VERY well done. I really liked what you said in your first episode, about maintaining a respectful tone and recognising that for many, this was their life. You're both achieving this; your exposition is both sound and respectful. Thank you for your continuing efforts.
Very enlightening guys. Well done. I spoke to some people that belong to this cult. They very protective over Branham. They seem like they are all cloned.
Most probably don't know this, but Kenneth Hagin the famous word of faith teacher also claimed that he was supposed to be the forerunner of the 2nd coming of Christ. Before he was born his mother had a vision of Jesus and was told that Kenneth Hagins name was supposed to be called John who was the forerunner of Jesus 1st coming, and Hagin was supposed to be the forerunner of the 2nd coming. Branham said the same thing. How can we have 2 people who are supposed to be the forerunner of the 2nd coming of Christ? 🤷🏿♂️
I was raised in the Cooneyite sect, which was started in 1897 by a Scotsman named William Irvine. He was very controlling. He was kicked out, but still supported by some members. He went to Jerusalem and fancied that he was one of the two witnesses, Elijah in particular, and he could hardly wait to be given the power to call forth earthquakes and other catastrophes to call down on his enemies.
True Story ...William Branham was preaching near Dallas when a young evangelist T W Barnes was interested in attending one of his many crusades! He was not a follower of William Branham but was simply hungry to see many souls come to the glorious knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and on his way to the crusade God impressed upon him where he was going to set in the huge crowd! He told his wife and her sister as well as another lady traveling with them were going to set on the front row! When they arrived the meeting house was packed with not a place to sit as they arrived right at the start of the service! As they stood in the aisle happy to just get a seat an usher came up and said, how would you like to sit on the front row and this was to their surprise except for Tom Barnes as God had already revealed to him where he was going to sit hours before the meeting! As they took there seats the song service soon came to an end and William Branham took the podium! William Branham said young man stand to your feet and come up here in front of me! He said, young man God showed me you standing in a field and as you looked to heaven you heard a voice and as you looked heavenward you saw a gift descending out of the clouds! You were told to take the gift as it was for you to take to the world and it was a gift of healing! Indeed God had spoken to him and the three who came with him had heard Tom Barnes share this story with them shortly after he had this very vision prior to attending this meeting! TW Barnes would go on to be greatly used of God in divine healing and never sought to make merchandise of this gift! In one meeting 26 visible growths disappeared boils, goiters and other similar growths! This was a United Pentecostal General Conference meeting in the early 60’s ! His ministry messages are on TH-cam on Because of the Times! I knew TW Barnes personally and he was a very loved man by multitudes of God fearing people!
This may seem like a really dumb question - but do the different Message sects have different names (like denominations do) or as it more just small groups of people without labels? Not a Message person - just appreciate your research and insight.
Sola scriptura! If you read the Wor of GOD for yourself and follow its teachings instead of a man, then you'll be going up the right track to the Lord. Not to say you can't get other studies as in theology, but the Word should be the final authority for truth.
Wait, I am intrigued by this. I live in Huey's hometown, and at the local museum there are recordings of him that sound almost just like Branham. May I ask why you connected them?
PBS many yrs ago, did a DocuSeries on Huey Long, his family upbringing & his political life...along with his younger brother. PBS has never replayed it. It was a fascinating documentary.
Branham was obviously a conman and a nutjob. However I gotta take issue with the children’s memories issue. I can remember detailed things that happened at 18 months old myself and proved it to my mother by giving details of events nobody could ever have told me. I have memories before this that are less detailed. However you are correct that he could not have explained them-in my own example I could tell my mother things but couldn’t make sense of them. For example on the night of my cousin’s shower I remember the ladies using a dipper to pour oil on the ladies heads. The thing is it wasn’t oil, it was cotton balls which my mother explained to me (when I told her about the memory) using a dipper to pour cotton balls on ladies heads is a very common tradition in the south. It is some kind of game they played at showers that frankly I still don’t understand. But in my young undeveloped mind a dipper was used to pour dip out liquids such as soup. Something about the cotton balls caused me to later interpret my memory as oil. So you are correct in your assessment of the ridiculous notion of him having some kind of angelic call at 2 or whatever nonsense this charlatan lied about but I would be very careful in making claims based on memory not being possible. It hurts your case. Those of us with near photographic do in fact have memories going back to extremely young ages.
What does it matter if he lied about his past? It matters quite a lot. Revelation 22:15 New American Standard Bible 15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.
Waited until his mom died, to make up a story about his childhood. Pathetic. He was afraid to lie to his momma, but not afraid to lie to millions of people.
Dumpy: It was not fear of his mamma, it's fear that she might reveal the truth. A liar will always try to eliminate any possibility of exposure. It's the nature of the con.
i know a man from you tube channel name is Lance leRoux... i suggest that you get in touch with him to see if he can provide us with more details... Thanks you very much for the big job your achieving for the people.
My brother, brother John. I'm a Christian who believes in the Message that William Branham preached, I'm not a Branhamite. I do agree with you on many things. For example 1. We are a people who are very cultic. If someone in the Message reads this and doesn't know what a cult is, please get the definition and you'll see the Message believers. We're no different from other cult churches, like the Mormons, Jehova Witnesses, Adventists, etc, who also have their Prophets and special revelations. 2. We've lifted Bro Branham till we've made him God, baptising in his name, and some say he is the angel of the covenant. 3. The Spoken Word has replaced the Bible as many Message believers do not know the Bible but what the Spoken Word says about the Bible. They're saying that the Spoken Word is the same as the Bible, no difference. 4. Idolizing William Branham. 5. Message believers do not believe in the gifts of the Holy Ghost and the 5 fold ministry. We only believe in 3 fold, pastor, teacher and evangelist. Message believers do not believe in miracles, signs and wonders which should follow a Christian and not a Christian following them. 6. Message pastors preach that we cannot judge a major prophet like Brother Branham. Whereas he said it himself that if he preaches something that's not in line with the Bible we should get rid of it. How can we do that if we are not to judge him or what he says by the Scriptures? 7. Some Message believers when they pray they use the Hoffman head of Christ picture in front of them or the one of the pillar of fire. To me that's idolatry. Such nonsense which God hates to the core. I have seen a lot of discrepancies you have pointed out within the Message. For me, I will never take William Branham and put him in the place of God,he was a man and he made a lot of mistakes like any other man (many preachers are trying by all means to hide that). However I will keep on following the Message he preached because I have learnt a lot of truth, my life as a Christian has totally transformed for the best. I don't hate you my brother and I have nothing against you at all. God bless you, ok. (I'm posting this here so that a Message believer can see the kind of mess we're in)
In my experience, when a follower of Branham discovers what you mention here, it is not long before they also discover the Bible passages describing the tests, consequences, and actions required for self-proclaimed prophets and those who believe them. I appreciate where you are now in your journey.

@@phyllislunsford8657 Yes, but it's not that surprising that Satan would come against people in the form of false gods. He knows that people have something inside them that wants to have a god. must be more than 3 signs that Moses got... God bless you and keep you
I’ve Recently come across some accounts of the origin of the LDS Church..There seems to be bits and pieces of Joseph Smith-like stories woven in and out of Branham’s mythologies.

Lol!
I distinctly remember my second birthday. 🙂

Agreed. We started a research page to try and better explain.

Like all liars he couldn't keep his stories straight! I watched you both on Steve Kozar "The Messed Up Church" and was blessed.
Watch LongforTruth as well.
True that.
This information is so relevant to our current times. Thank you both. Looking forward to next week.
A BIT OF AN EYE OPENER THANK YOU
After having watched several of your podcasts, I read the William Branham chapter in Roberts Liardon's "God's Generals." My conclusion? Liardon's book is propaganda of North Korean proportions.
I’d love it if we found his college records!
That would be the gourmet icing on this absolutely incredible and mind blowing cake, wouldn't it?? I really believe that if he did go to college, John and Charles will find the records!
Super intrigued by this ep2
The story told on william Branham's history: This fantastical story of Branham's background is evidence that humans love stories, especially fairytales.
Absolutely.
Yes, I compose, play, and record all the background music on all of the videos and podcasts.

Were there in history men who declared themselves as Elijah at the end time?
Numerous. John Alexander Dowie, who was Branham's prototype. Frank Sandford. Others.
Branham claimed he was born in eastern Kentucky. Perhaps to identify with the poorer Appalachian people. Burkesville is in central Kentucky.

My brother, brother John. I'm a Christian who believes in the Message that William Branham preached, I'm not a Branhamite. I do agree with you on many things. For example
