'Burying an odd boyfriend' had me cracking up :D We never stop being a Dad.
You will never be without one now. Impossible to imagine not having one after you get your first.
As you sit looking out the front window, there should be a hand throttle down on the floor at your right hand, under the seat. We have a standard clutch and gear 50B. Best machine ever was made. That's where the hand throttle is. Good luck with your machine. Im looking forward to seeing her in her former glory.
Adrian, being as meticulous, tidy and thorough as he is, I think that over time, we can expect to see this be eventually fully restored with a new paint job. Adrian may be thinking of only fixing what is necessary at this point in time, but I'm pretty sure that it not being 'complete' and looking good will bother him little by little. In this video, he spoke about changing the plastic glass for a different and better substitute. I'll wager that this substitute eventually will be replaced with proper glass. ...and so on and so forth...This is what I like about Adrian. He looks after his equipment so that it looks after him.
Nice one, we have a 50B too, replaced a few seals etc already. The manual throttle is to the right hand side of the seat down on the floor, sticks out the very base of the seat. The big lever on the right is for the diff lock. The square plate in the toolbox with the 4 holes is the drive flange for the hydraulic pump, and the shaft with the gear is one of the hydraulic pumps gears. If you ever need to replace the pump shaft it is a reverse thread (left hand) we had to do the rubber dampers on the flange a while ago and the drive coupling sheared. White house hydraulics still do bits for the pump and the drive couplings. SJ spares did the rubber dampers and most of the seals we got from sparex and malpas tractors.
Is that for burying the money, no Cavan jokes. Great purchase for the farm, very handy and will do the same job as a machine at twice the cost. When I seen you with the shovel cleaning the drains I thought that man needs a wee digger. 😀
Great machine.
Probably easiest to look for a 3 lever spool block for the loader, rather than an extra slice.
We at Hydraseals Hose & Bearings still keep all the hydraulic Ram seals for these machines in stock.....
Adrian, I'm in no doubt you will make some job of that 50B! Will be shining like a new pin in a couple of months!😁Can always see you have your dad and family in mind with all your decisions.. Great to see :)
You're so fun to watch & listen to when you explain everything! Thanks for your great videos!
If I remember right, the hand throttle was on the seat support box , a lever sticking out the side of it
You have a never ending knowledge of machinery and how things work. Great interesting video
Looking forward to following this project Adrian, I’m sure father phill will be able to point you in the right direction with parts and things? If previous projects are anything to go by, she’ll be winning local shows next year 😉
I think it's time to invest in a 50B.. They are bound to go up in value after this project 🤣 Best of luck with it Adrian 👍
Great machine. My mother bought one for her smallholding about 6 months ago. It starts on the button every time, all weathers. Fantastic value for money compared with the costs of hiring a digger
Father Phil the man for all the info on that wagon Adrian
The little leaver on the dash is for the fan/cab heater
Great stuff, looking forward to seeing the videos on it to come!
What a great project Adrian, look forward with the updates 👍
Looking forward to this journey, 👍
Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing the transformation over the coming months. 👌🏻
Brilliant video Adrian, very entertaining video and very well presented and edited, you're class act, good luck on your restoration
Looks like you have a nice winter project! Enjoy the rebuild...
Love, love, love your optimism. You're gonna love getting stuck in to that project. " It's missing a door, but it came with it." Laughed out loud, Adrian. Thank you for a smashing video. 😊
You could always send Massy Ferguson an email to see if they have a manual in their archives
Hi Adrian,
Great video and what an exciting project to be looking forward to tearing into.
Fair find, I’m sure you’ll get it in shape soon.

I have no doubt you’ll have it ship shape in no time. I’m always impressed at how well you care for everything on your farm.❤️🤗🐝
50D. I have been wanting to buy a 50E for years and I think you have just pushed me a little bit closer 😂😂
Best of luck with the new purchase for the farm 👍👍👍
Well ware Adrian. Best of luck with your new machine, looking forward to seeing you work on her and work with her 🍀

Absolute perfect project to sort out this winter, keep you away from sofa🤪 sure you will enjoy playing and fixing 50b, hopefully you’re dad will be out with you as well, noticed Bailey looking at the ditching bucket thinking it’s the feed bowl ! 😂 anyway Adrian have a good and safe week 🍻
Adrian ya have made my day! My uncle had one of those when I was young but sold it before I was old enough to appreciate it! Really looking forward to all the upcoming content!
Seeing that machine move made my day! :D Beautiful!! :D Thanks lots.
New toy, new project! Adrian’s a happy man as Christmas arrives early. Looking forward to the renovation and how you put the 50B to work 🚜
Looks like a great rebuild project for you. Looking forward to seeing it. I am sure it will get plenty of use 😊👍👍
Nice one Adrian better than a hand shovel for sure 👍
Great video I am sure it will be a great job and working 100% can't wait to see the work been done on it
Well done Adrian a very useful and worthwhile purchase, given time and knowing from your previous blogs you’ll have everything working as it should be, and maybe a new coat of paint to cheer it up and make you proud it’s yours. We’ll all looking forward to see you working on it and improving it over the oncoming months great content for the channel as always. Good luck.
Great video Adrian, I’m sure you will get the Massey up to your standards. Good luck with her. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼
Lovely purchase well wear
Im shocked by the speed of the front loader, a seriously useful tool once you tidy it up.
For a good DIY guy like you it’s just tool needed.👍
You will have it shining!
Brilliant stuff Adrian... looking forward to seeing this ..
Cannot wait to see this being restored 👍🏻👍🏻
Good luck with classic Massey 50B digger👍
Drove one of these as a kid, moving it around a field picking stones, great machine and memories. Looking forward to seeing you working on and in the 50B :)
Good video a nice project for you Adrian to work on 👍👍👍
What a lucky digger! That old digger will look awesome when you are done with it! Hopefully it will work for you for years more to come!
I worked on a big 1000 acre estate many years ago and they had a 50B, it did all the feeding, loaded all the dung, the straw, and put over 700 acres of silage in pits every year to feed 450 cows and their followers. Over 1000 head. The back actor was off it.
This will be a great winter evenings project for you
Adrian, looks like a great buy! No doubt your magical hands will do some job on your new 50B! Looking forward to that video. Well done!
Love a Sunday video
Looking forward to see what you do with it Adrian
Thanks for the show Adrian, watch out for the telephone cables and water lines
Lovely machine Adrian obviously there is work to be done on her but what I like about it is it’s all there and original as could be and it’s definitely in the right place for getting the vip treatment 😄👌🏻👍🏼
Morning Adrian hope your keeping well
Nice addition.. i can honestly say it will be a handy second loader to have as well.. we have a 50B mk2 with 2 stick digger control, ( posh 😂) the torque converter and floor pedals shuttles which when you press them both down together you get revs with no movement. It came home when i worked at a local dealers FarmServices when i was 17ish and its still with us... now im 44 ish 😅 .. and to be fair we haven't spent a lot on her but she is always ready to go and work when asked.. steering drop shaft was replaced though that made a huge difference. Stay safe 🏴
Can’t wait to see you working on it. Please film it so that we can see it. Thank you.
Nice Massey. You will soon have 91k subscribers!
I put up silage with a 50b in the late 80’s / early 90’s …. Great machines!
Good luck with her Adrian she's came to a good home
Great video,Adrian your a fountain of information😊
This will be a real challenge. Wish you the best of luck with the rebuild. Thank you for sharing.🐄
great new project for you, im sure you`ll get it in tip top working order and thinking it will be useful on the little house projects. thank you
Best of luck with your new purchase.
I like your videos they are very interesting Thnking you Christie
Adrian best of luck with it, mighty job for leveling clay or gravel with the front bucket or redding sheughs and digging drains once the rear carriage is sorted.Thats a very honest review and i've no doubt the the 50B that we see in the work horse clothes will soon be a a very credible show pony!.
Your developing a fondness for vintage machinery. A load of work there for you but enjoyable.
Adrian, you have some great attitude about your new purchase. A BIG project! Good thing you have “8” days in a week!
She is nice . We have the 50hx version and the cabs tend to rote badly so make sure you watch the cab . And the 50hx has the two levers instead of about 10
A nice project it will take time handy machine to have around
A little spit… a little polish… a little power washing… a little sand blasting… some welding… some cursing… some new parts… some paint…. And there you go! Perfection! 😁. Adrian, tractor Time With Tim and Goodworks Tractors have some videos on third-function kits. I think Tim did a few videos on that topic. And Lord Muck and Clarence Fud-Weasel are to UK gents that have a lot of knowledge on tractor rebuilding. Clarence rebuilds a lot from bottom to top and likely knows what you need. Gotta love TH-cam at times! Stay Safe!!!
I remember my grandad had one on his farm when I was growing up. But it was a non backhoe model with a concrete counterweight in the back. Unfortunately it was the manual gearbox model. Absolutely savage loader tractor all the same. Actually he had two the other had a backhoe. It lived in the headge for spares
Looking forward to seeing the repairs on the 50 only ever used a case or jcb great video well explained
Ideal machine for you Adrian, it’ll do a heap of work for you from digging holes, lifting Fert and all the jobs in between. You’ll also have another “project” for you to tidy and work on as the months go on. (Like you’ve nothing else to do with your time). Congratulations and happy howking 😎😎😎😎
A nice project for ya over the winter
Some years back I put a divert valve on bucket pipes ( in cab ) as a third service and ran the pipes out to service a shear grab . Worked perfectly and was a very cheap solution at the time .
Great video Adrian, often tough of buying a foster digger that fits the rear of a tractor, but it never happened, anyways wish you all the best with this venture, 😊
Great video Adrian. Really looking forward to seeing you getting stuck in that old girl & bringing her back to her former glory. Be great to see your dad behind the controls 👍
Congratulations on your purchase of a fine vintage machine that hopefully will pay for itself in content for your Channel that we ❤️ love.
Hopefully it will clean a shuck or two for you too.😊
The Best of luck with it
Tidy brining back my child hood we had a few on the farm I was brought up on one was torque like your one cab taken off for low buildings it got a roasting because it was torque so we got an upgrade and clutch one cab not off just shortened 😀 and half backactor teen off, wouldn’t start so always left on a brae and bumpt started 😀 the slider control was for the heater and our seat didn’t spin it tipped over so you was sittin on the backrest of it when facin the back handles. Keep up the good work lookin forward to you fixing her up 👍🏽
Just subscribed to your channel today, really enjoy watching on a Sunday morning. From the Peak District!
Cant wait for updates on this I hope ya put a few extra lights on her and eventually paint and stickers use it for factor runs as I would say majority of them have been deven into the ground worked hard and are left in a bush only to be used ocaisonally be nice tidied up and retro fitted out
You might find a date stamped into the wheels which will be fairly close to year of manufacture of the digger.
What a man you are, not many people would take on a project like that, I wish you the best of luck with it. I know you will get it up and running and in fairley decent condition.
Nice little dumper to go with it would be handy. You know the ones you start with a handle.
Always wanted one but no need for it🤗
I love to see you fix up old stuff to make it good again!! Wish I could help with sanding rust and spray painting yellow, but I'm old and in the US so you'll have to do the best you can on your own. 🤣😂🤣😂 Look forward to the rehab beginning!!! I'll bet you are glad you got your workshop all ready to use.
Very good Adrian's, all the best with her ,we have a older masses fergurson 50 digger she's a good machine ,a working project
Adrian, well done on the Massey digger. Great backup for the silage pit, but fabulous for drain work and shoughts on the farm.........Spend a bit , keep out of the weather and it should be a permanent tool on the farm.
Father Phil will have all the information you need.
Nice wee project Adrian will be a nice digger when you’ve worked your magic on it! 💪🏻💪🏻👍
Hi another great video looking forward to see doing it up as I’ve been bought up on one, the hand throttle is under the seat on door side 👍
The linkage at the front was for a throttle cable from memory, damm good old digger, the steering can be fun on the road when they are worn, but good simple old yokes
Love the videos you put on, keep them coming.
Had an MF211on the Farm I worked on when I left school. Very handy. Used it to load silage out of the clamp and in the summer took off the backacter and used to stack big round bales. There was a User Manual in the shed for it. Among other "How to" sections it even had full instructions of how to use the machine to dig graves
The shaft in the toolbox is for the steering if i remember correctly. There should be a hand throttle i think its on the floor under the chair. If it is pulling on the back wheels get the half axels checked i had a nightmare with one in the past it ceased itself solid on a busy road. I had to nurse it all the way home with the assistance of the back actor
Sorry video is a little late this morning, cattle went for a wee wander on us 🐄. Hope ya’s enjoy. 👍
Are u going to put new lights on ur digger back and front and beacons on ur digger too
until you find a paper copy of the maunal, here is an online pdf version threeways.dockreyapartments.com/motorised/tractor/massey_ferguson_mf_50b_full_service_manual.pdf
Do you want to buy a 4wd 50D4.😊
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
