@@auraglasswerks4900 True but it's expensive... I have quite a few synths here but honestly rarely use them. It's all plug ins in the studio. These plugs can so easily be tweaked and they also sound bloody great these days. I discovered I am more just collecting synths than use them 😀 Like woman want more and more shoes 😛
I am hoping that their most current release the Take 5 is simply a way to build market share by making Sequential synths a bit more affordable to many more people. I do hope that they create an updated Poly Evolver with increased polyphony to 8 voices or even better 16 voices. Maybe they could build a newer version of the Poly Evolver with 4 voices and the ability to install expansion boards to bring the polyphony up to 16 voices.
I have an original Sequential Circuits Multi-Trak synth from 1985 which I think was the first synth that Dave Smith and Sequential came out with that has 6 independent voices which is truly multitimbral. While it has great sound and was on the cutting edge of analog at the time, each voice only has one oscillator. Still a cool analog multitimbral synth today, but the Poly Evolver took the Multi-Trak to a whole other level.
Amazing demo my friend. You have done the Poly Evolver true justice with this extended masterpiece. Love the huge metallic low end that kicks in on the patch at 20:32... PE sounds unique to this day.
Awesome! I really hope we will see a return to the Poly Evolver concept by Sequential. Such a unique sound. Just add some dual effects, more polyphony and that thing would be a monster.
@@Shadow__Banned It only have 4 voices if you don't stack the Poly in daisy chain with rack units. For 12 voices you need a PE and 2 rack units, that is not cheap at all.
Coming back to this amazing demo 2 years later. The sequence from 29:53 - 30:25 is fantastic -- do you have a completed track of this piece? If not, you should create one... it's so catchy! :) Great work.
I have both the keyboard edition and the rack to make 8 voices. They're not that hard to find mate. Mine is the last serial to leave the factory so it's a PE edition but here is one on ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/Dave-Smith-Poly-Evolver-Synthesizer/223471581898?hash=item3407f1baca:g:XNIAAOSwgVJcLnc7&frcectupt=true Looks like those are encoders but the guy says they've been replaced. Also I think Dave Smith offers PE kit that you can do yourself if you're brave or send them the synth and they'll do the upgrade for you. If you want potentiometers that is. Otherwise the synths are identical.
I mind the curtis filter much less on the PE then the others from DSI. Its not meant as much for lush synthwave stuff, its about the biting edges, the industrial side. Still, I'd want at least one lush master-filter in addition to the the curtis-per-voice.
wonderful demo wonderful machine. best synth of the last 20 years if u ask me. I own a mono and i love it... one day i'll own a poly too hahahahha... sadly its a lil bit of an unreal dream :)))
gratulations, well done-great sounds, really shows what this beast is capable of...mine unfortunately has a very upsetting problem, from time to time voice 4 drops the pitch by 3 semitones, but not always..anyone had that problem too or any ideas how to fix it without changing the whole board ? if it was occurring all the time I could just transpose voice 4, but it is impossible to say when that error occurs, seems totally random..??? can I e.g. somehow deactivate the whole voice, as 3 stable ones would be ok for me at the moment, but a proper repair and my bank account don't go together well...any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers from Hamburg, have a nice day!

Wow, the "evolve" from 2:25 is superb. I'll have to try that on mine. The PE has amazing depth and sonic capability. The low end is phenonimal.

They said that's very unlikely. Plus, now that they were bought they already seem to be headed in the cheaper / plastic synth direction.

12 voices is not enough ???

After the Prophet 5 rev 4, a Poly Evolver rev 2 would be a killer business case for Sequential/Focusrite.
its only "problem" its only 4notes poly... it wont be a problem for me that im just a knob twister but maybe a problem for a real keybordist tho.
i hope that too, also if it will be out of the range for my wallet.

i had an ad for apple computers in-between that cost them 1000s and it sounded totally crap in comparison to the wonderful evolver sounds..

Prophet wins on polyphony, Evolver pretty much in ever sound design parameter.
