To be honest, so many people associate the various leg flicks as being "Tango" now, it can be difficult to tell what you are watching. True ballroom Tango is the very staccato style, not looking at each other, mostly in traditional hold. The passion is more ferocious than seductive. In true Argentine tango, the bodies are closer together, forming an A shape and, though there can be leg flicks, etc, it is much more intimate. Then, in the middle you have the "Latin-American" style show/stage Argentine Tango where the partners bodies are further apart allowing for all the fancy legwork, the lifts, spins and so on. It is also much more obvious in its sexuality. Though it isn't the Argentine Tango as the people of Argentina know it, it is still thrilling to watch and those people should be proud that their national dance has given birth to such a popular and well loved style! Argentina, thank you for both dances, the mother and her more flamboyant daughter!
The 2nd couple in the black where my best the story just stood out for them they did a perfect job in telling that story. Although the end couple where excellent Those 2 stood out for me.
I agree, even though I have never been to Argentina...I love the dance and it does not require all this nonsense just a passion and a way of walking/dancing/thinking that has a beauty all its own.
They should have specified and said, "Argentine Tango". I was expecting both. Argentine is my personal favorite because of the precision of the kicks and flicks also the focus the two have on each other.
Love your choices....number two were my favorite. For the people saying it was aweful and that isn't Tango...these Tango routines are being danced by young adults on a competition show called "So You Think You Can Dance". They are not professional Tango dancers but do a great job for only having one week to learn the dance routine. I'm a big fan of this show and I think they do an amazing job.
They may not be professional TANGO dancers, but they are professionally trained dancers who have studied ballet including pas de deux, and probably modern and jazz for years. Their partnering skills also reflect possible ballroom experience, or even study of the showbiz idiom of nightclub "Adage". This show highlights their extreme versatility, with challenges over the range of dance genres. These couples certainly rise to the challenge.
Dear , for me these not the tradicional tango... is more electronic than tha true tango... but thay don't dance bad. Only is not the real dance. If you want ... you can search " tango en Argentina" and watch a lor of videos! ( sorry ,i'm from Argentina ,my English is not very well)
New to tango I've been watching Tango videos for 2 hours and can see that these performances whilst technically competent do not have the soul of tango, the buildup of emotion, the (for lack of a better word) tango of two becoming one then celebrating it!
Although I'm from Russia where bears are walking on the street :), I agree entirely on your opinion. Tango is too sensitive to be only "TV show" or "all-stars-performance". Tango demands not only high-class dance technic. First of all this dance needs the feelings. It needs the passion. I spent a last two hours trying to find something and everywhere I saw only BS TV show - bright light, loud music, but no feeling between partners. So sadly...
#4 Karen and Victor are stunning, and my fave of these clips. But I have to say I LOVED Allison's red dress, and the steps at 0:57 are subtle brilliance.
Dance is all about the emotion inside of it, and some of these are a bit too stiff though they've done an excellent job in the dance while others added their own little flare to it and put lots of emotion inside of it.
I understand the Argentinians, but only to a certain point. First of all, Tango has become a hot trend world over. It all began there, dictatorship or no, with mixed origins ethnically speaking. It is now a positive CULT. Argentinians ought to be proud. Now we see so many variations on a theme of tango that it makes your head reel...but it is as expected. Culture, time and media all add their own tints on the original layer, transforming it little by little. VIVA EL TANGO!! VIVA ARGENTINA!!!!
Perfectly agreed, This is something "ispired to tango" from very far, but it's not tango anymore. Real tango is a very different thing, more passion and less circus moves... even if it is "tango scenario" (tango for shows) it still has much more passion than this people here
3rd in blue n 5th in red/pink were great. But blue girl n guy were just the best. . So in sync with each other. It's like u wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall ;-)
It is the most emotional dance. Sexy, no man or woman should be without it before deciding if they could be partners! If they cannot move to "the dance" in my experience they cannot make love!
The first, third, fourth, and fifth dancers are performing exhibition style Argentine Tango. The second couple is dancing the International style tango. You really notice the difference in style between the second couple and the others.

Thank you so much for this definition/explanation: even more enjoyable to watch now that I know what's going on!
i prefer the disdainful 'ballroom' to the argentine.
Wow! I learn something everyday, and thank you for that.
Lyndale Oliver-Musto .
Who cares, this is great dancing.
The 2nd couple in the black where my best the story just stood out for them they did a perfect job in telling that story. Although the end couple where excellent Those 2 stood out for me.

The second pair is just so elegant and AMAZING.
I agree, even though I have never been to Argentina...I love the dance and it does not require all this nonsense just a passion and a way of walking/dancing/thinking that has a beauty all its own.
all of them are the best..!!! but i love the 2nd and the last one most!!!^^
They should have specified and said, "Argentine Tango". I was expecting both. Argentine is my personal favorite because of the precision of the kicks and flicks also the focus the two have on each other.
I do love Tango, it's one of the best dances I've seen in the world!

I wish I could dance like that too. Love it so much
New to tango I've been watching Tango videos for 2 hours and can see that these performances whilst technically competent do not have the soul of tango, the buildup of emotion, the (for lack of a better word) tango of two becoming one then celebrating it!
Fabulous!!!!! Bellissimo
the second tango is very beautiful^^
They were all great!❤
karen and victor were my no.1 their body language was phenomenon it told the sensual dynamics and more...oh man... if only!!!

I am also from Russia and I dance Argentine tango (in the snow with bears:) ). At each lesson, at each master class, I hear: "tango is feelings."
The music is excellente the dancing is hillarious.
This dancing performance is great. And the style is tango.
#4 Karen and Victor are stunning, and my fave of these clips. But I have to say I LOVED Allison's red dress, and the steps at 0:57 are subtle brilliance.
I like the Monsterrat one, with the girl in the blue- loved their footwork.

I like the 1st and 3rd one the most. Those two were on point! :)
love the first and third the most!!
Absolutely first class
Exceptional Tango
Dance is all about the emotion inside of it, and some of these are a bit too stiff though they've done an excellent job in the dance while others added their own little flare to it and put lots of emotion inside of it.
+Katelynn Hueston, I absolutely agree with you...
Daniel Duţă I'm no dance instructor, but they did great, though they barely have emotion, only some
+Katelynn Hueston after practicing thousands of times a year it becomes scripted. like hearing the same beautiful song over and over it gets dull.
Joey Morrison I understand that much, all I have is basic knowledge of this. But some added flare and such, I thought it was interesting.
Katelynn Hueston haha me to want to tango?
Le tango est un jeux de séduction. C'est ce qui fait son charme. 😂😍😭😭😭😭😭😭😗😗😗😗😗😗

3rd in blue n 5th in red/pink were great. But blue girl n guy were just the best. . So in sync with each other. It's like u wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall ;-)
the original song on the first part is Tanguera compose by Mariano Mores.
I love Lauren and Pasha's Argentine tango from S7
Beautiful music video !

For best Argentine Tango, well, that's a different story.
It is the most emotional dance. Sexy, no man or woman should be without it before deciding if they could be partners! If they cannot move to "the dance" in my experience they cannot make love!

the girl in the last one has been absolutely perfect
Úramon VG by
En mi opinión, es una copia de Miriam Laricci and Leonardo Barrionuevo from superstars of the dance!

The first, third, fourth, and fifth dancers are performing exhibition style Argentine Tango. The second couple is dancing the International style tango. You really notice the difference in style between the second couple and the others.
