I don’t understand the current designer. Her style is boring and the sets are always better than the collection. Maybe commercial and economic factors are at play? She’s never done a “great” collection for Dior. The clothes are “okay” at best.
I had to look really hard to see the details in this collection, there was so much black. I like the silhouettes created by most of the pieces and I think the flow of the fabric is beautiful, but something else is needed.
The atrocious runway setting RUINED what could've been one of Dior's better collections under Maria Disgrazia. Also, someone needs to introduce Maria Disgrazia to editing cuz she presented 78 looks, and many of the designs look too similar from each other to the point that it gets too repetitive. 30 looks for this collection would've been enough 🤷
I agree so much omg, I really didn't understand the link between the collection and the setting ! I also found the looks extremely repetitive, especially those asymmetrical black top. Apart from that, I really like the texture game with the tulle, the lace (I really appreciated the two final looks)
The set by itself is fine, the clothes by themselves are also fine, but there's no common language between them. A neon coloured set covered with feminist slogans, and ultra feminine clothes with an edgy undertone, don't mix.
Alber Elbaz, Riccardo Tisci, Phoebe Philo, John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, we miss you ! RTW is not ambitious these days. Before it was as a laboratory as it was commercial-fit.

0:47 is probably the closest thing to John Galliano-era Dior that MGC has ever put out. I'll give her that. But the rest of this collection was such a snooze-fest. Sadly in 20 years time all anyone will remember of her will be that the decoration and the surroundings of the venues she showed her collections at were way more interesting to look at than the actual clothing designs themselves. Anna Wintour is probably screaming at MGC's reliance and overuse of black for way too many consecutive seasons now.
One thing that I feel doesn't get brought up enough is the fact that Maria has made her tenure at Dior extremely woman centric. Has tried to really uphold feminist ideals and women friendly clothing. But to me at least, those goals a constantly at odds with what I see on the runway. Yes, she employs female artisans, or artisans that benefit women, artists who speak to women and their lived experiences. But on the runway, the models are barely diverse, few models of color, no diversity in terms of body types and ages. Let's not talk of her aversion to color or diverse silhouettes. Judging by runway presentation alone, I’d dare to say her former partner, Pier Paolo Piccioli, is more feminist than her. At least on his runways you see more diversity that what is presented here.
It is not easy to do 4 collections a year: SS, FW, cruise & haute couture. But María managed to evolve, yet maintain the Dior DNA, and give folks a bit of change here and there to keep it fresh.

I guess Dior is trying to atone for having a previous creative director praise Hitler by allowing Maria to just shoe horn politics where it belongs least.
