In regards to the policies against online harassment, is this due to some new Japanese law? It's odd that all of these companies recently are Japanese. For possible added context to Square Enix's policy, I've heard that Final Fantasy 14's Japanese player base can be pretty aggressive when it comes to online discourse. There've been reports of death threats being levied against FF14's employees from the Japanese community (while I haven't verified it personally, this seems to be a commonly held belief amongst the English community. I don't speak Japanese though), and I've seen a lot of people on the English side of things call for the director/producer to step down due to their dissatisfaction with the latest expansion which received mixed reviews due to critiques with the story and quality of the presentation (voice direction, etc). There's a lot of other context, but I do think the player base can go too far in some of the discourse, taking it out on individuals personally. I don't think it warrants lawsuits, per-se, but there may be instances that would be cause for concern for the safety of employees.
Yes, it's aimed at the Japanese. The Ministry of Health Welfare & Labor in Japan advises companies to implement Customer Harassment policies when dealing with stuff like this after defamation laws in Japan were updated to account for online insults. They even issued guides on how to properly implement them. Square just published the policy in English on their company site, so all the Westerners think it's aimed at them and not the Japanese.
@@weismax33 So, a company pushes out garbage that ruins a game people have paid for month after month for years/decades people get upset and say how trash the dude is and the dude who's pushing trash and charging people for it (by killing a product that they had paid for) is by bring the gov't against them? I knew SE was dead but glad to see it'll be dead in japan soon too - i won't miss them - as when you stop people from voicing their opinion about the product, what happens next? They leave. If someone is actually trying to take action, sure. Words? Grow up dude, i don't care if you feefees get hurt.
Maybe Alec Baldwin shouldn't have voted for those policies and those representatives under which he has convicted, and maybe he shouldn't have insulted innocent citizens while licking the government boot. May the new administration extradite him and finish the job.
Nice try square enix but you ultimate weakness is losing money if you sue fan fan and all gamers will not buy you games and you suing will be mass exposed soon ha ha ha

If Nintendo does not name it the *Super Nintendo Switch* there is no point to any of it.
Honestly, they should have done this for their entire console history. NES, Super NES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Super Wii, Switch, Super Switch.

This is coming on the Heels on Square Enix's biggest controversy about FFXIV's current expansion being woke garbage.
How strange of Square Enix to remind us they are a dying company.
Square Enix insolvency now guaranteed.

Now that you caught on to your transgressions, Craig, will you unban those accounts you have done wrong?
Great Stream. now go eat a sandwich and take a nap. I would never steal food from Blabs, she needs all the soup and sandwiches she can get.
