@@glowylikesdoom That's correct! My upload channel got nuked because TH-cam fucking sucks, and I lost source files as well. So thanks for remaking the whole thing!
Starts of sounding almost exactly like Act on Instinct in Command & Conquer then becomes Doom:y. :P However, i dont like to point stuff out, but next time, dont upload General Midi, it sounds way worse than all the other Midi devices. As far as i know it is literally the worst because it just sounds basic and lacks punch and has those cheap sounding instruments. I often play Doom with the OPL synth but if a wad uses CD music i ofcourse go with that but its a matter of taste. One guy said i was butchering the music by uploading a track in OPL from Valiant, it sounded freaking awesome though but its very divisive topic i guess.
General midi is the classic, and IMO it's the best in general, because the guitar sounds don't blow your ears out (unlike arachno, timbres of heaven), the brass section has a full sound to it (unlike arachno, sc-55), and I'm willing to set aside the fact that the trumpet is dry and weak, because it's always dry and weak in every soundfont besides voice crystal and touhou, each of which have their own glaring issues. Additionally, all of these were composed with this set of sounds in mind.
@@TheRealFraston "General midi is the classic" -> depending on your budget at the time, and for most of the PC users Sound Blaster's OPL was the classic. Also, to each his own and memberberries probably play a large part in what we like best, but I definitely prefer the raw, "industrial" sounds of the OPL over the smoothness of the Roland emulation.
There is an entire conversation over on my TH-cam channel about this very thing. My song was written one year before C&C Act on Instinct. It was completely coincidental as far as I can tell. I am the original composer of this song, "Midnight Call."

I love how eventually it becomes The Imp's Song :L
wait, i feel like you're the one who originally uploaded the ost

That's definitely your opinion. I think OPL sounds way worse for almost any Doom soundtrack.

General midi sucking? OPL being good? Pushing your unpopular opinion on others?
I've rarely heard so much nonsense outside of a Twitter post.
Best map mod ever in history of Doom
Oh there's better. Trust me there's better.
