That was the dilemma I had. I had no problems going down the half. But if you are afraid, you can always go up half and put an insole if its too loose.

@@-calitros-6792 If you take care of your shoes, you can last them clean white for over a year. There are tons of shoe cleaning products and it's not that hard to keep it white. Just don't go to the club or outside in the dirt/rain/snow with them.
