My parents haven’t made my situation any easier, so I love everyone who’s very comfortable talking about “normal growing up stuff.”

Totally Tech it is totally normal to talk about this subject. this is what almost every girl goes through, and it is a normal bodily function for us.
just try to talk to a friend maybe or someone more open to this topic :) its gonna feel right when you start talking about it to someone who maybe shares the same problem or just anyone really, who has been through this too,. its not wrong to talk about it, its actually really important to talk and learn about it. goodluck!

Period story:
In sixth grade I have experienced already 4 months with my period. It was during religion class (I went to a private catholic school) I had felt something down there an I knew I had to go. I rose my hand and asked may I use the restroom? And you know what he said. He said, we only have 10 minuets. You can wait. I could of just walked up and left but no cuz I was a good student. But then something happened that had me triggered. Another girl who hasn’t started her period (I know that because a week before we had the video and she said she hasn’t started) asked to go to the restroom and he said yes........YES!.....I reported it to my homeroom teacher and she said she’ll talk to him about having favorites is bad. He got fired for a private reason and I’m glad he did!

I have 7 day periods usually but this month it was 10 days and I made a mistake. OH I MADE A MISTAKE. I was like you know what, my period has pretty much ended by now I think, every time I wear a pad in this situation it ends up having nothing on it, so I was like, I’ll wear no pad. There's a lot of different factors that go into how long your period is, what symptoms you experience, how much you bleed, etc. When I was younger, my periods were longer. As I've gotten older, they've shortened and aren't nearly as painful (which is affected by diet, exercise, genetics - all that fun stuff). Having your period for seven days is completely normal! The average is about 3-5 days.

So in 6th grade I had me first period. I had not had "the talk" yet. My stomachs hurts and I Camry have cried a little bit. So, I go into the bathroom...and I'm freakin bleeding out! I ask my technology teacher if I can go to the nurse. He says yeah. I walk into the nurses office and practically yell, "HELP IM DYING!" With freaking tears in my eyes! They called my mom and I my mom gave me the talk on the way to Walmart.
(Btw, I also had the choice to stay home...but I said no!!! JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO GO TO ENGLISH CLASS??? Nowadays I would just say, "LET ME STAY HOME, PLEEASAASE!!! IM DYING!!!")

The thing that's difficult about explaining what a period really feels like to a guy, is that it's a different experience for everyone. My best friend can get her period and go to the gym the same day, and she doesn't use birthcontrol or painkillers. My first day of my period consists of screeming and crying in bed for hours untill the painkillers kick in, after that I can carefully sit up and maybe watch a little tv or read a book. I try planning my period so that the first day is always on a sunday. So sometimes it's hard for women to understand each other, so how can men completely understand it? What also doesn't help is that periods are still labeled as something to be embarassed about. A guy asked me why I took my bag to the bathroom with me, I told him I was on my period, he responded: 'Oh wow, I didn't needed that image in my mind, can't you just tell us it's a girl thing so we can pretend you are doing your make-up?' It was said jokingly, but it does show the stigma around it.

Tori with the anticonception pill, however it doesn't always work. Yesterday I took my pill 15 minutes late, which in my case means I will be on my period for the next 3 weeks, but atleast the pain isn't as bad as it is without the pill.

What also sucks is that it not only varies from woman to woman, but often from cycle to cycle in the SAME woman. I'm lucky in that mine are fairly consistent in terms of length, timing, flow, etc. but one month I could be just crippled with cramps and diarrhea and not fun-ness, and then the next month have it be like nothing. And then even within the same period, there's a 'light day', a 'heavy day', and then a 'medium day', and symptoms will vary from day to day.
Gotta love dat uterus.

My first 2 periods were 3 days and now they at least 5😭. People who have 3 to 5 days ones are so lucky. My most recent period was a whole week😭
