The documentary 'A Year With Armin van Buuren' takes one year out of the roaring life of the Dutch DJ. Armin has been voted number one DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 of 2012, making it an historic fifth time as the world's most popular DJ. The documentary has been shot during an important year, the result is a unique documentary that offers a rare look inside the life and personality of the world famous DJ/producer.

Wow..he's a superstar..but after all, he's just an ordinary father and family man. His house is also not a huge mansion. very down to earth. So much respect!
Nothing ordinary about him, things like the size of the house or what car you drive don't matter for people living on Armin's paradigm, willing to put 18 hours straight of mental work into a studio and dealing with ordinary people with ordinary questions is not common, if by that you ment that ordinary people can be like Armin in their own way or field, yes, but he is not ordinary. Have you seen ordinary people's faces? They look confuse and in need of shot of caffeine, you don't see that on Armin.
Of course. What he does is not ordinary. he's the number one DJ in the world. but after all, there's still a side of him which is ordinary, just like us non-superstars :)
If by that you mean that ordinary people has the potential to become like him in whatever field they care for, then yes, but there is nothing ordinary about him, even thouh is made with the same cloth than all of us.
He seems to be a very "simple" person even if he's so famous and rich..loved the documentary! Thanks for the upload
I still don't think we can properly gauge how his life--or any celeb's life--is in just an hour long documentary. They show mostly highlights and very few low points such as the segment where he's complaining about not having enough food to eat or time to eat it before a show. For all we know, he could've had even bigger breakdowns that were ten times worse along the way, but they don't show us that. Naturally they're gonna show the "simple family life" stuff to endear us to the fact that he's a normal guy. But being a busy celeb, I doubt he's the homebody guy that they want us to think he is. Comparable to the rest of us "normal" people, he's not simple-life-guy 7 days a week, unless of course he's not on tour. To me, normal people do the home stuff 7 days a week. Celebs are in a different paradigm because they're the opposite, they're rarely are at home and spend most of their time surrounded by an entourage of tech people, common employees, and utter strangers. They're abnormal because they spend most of their time around people they don't love, not the people they do love.
Armin said no one will love him in ten years.. No way.. I'll love him all my life for keeping trance alive!!!

I remember watching Armin playing live in 2007. He played for like 7 hours... when the sun was risen the floor was pretty empty. But he was there, smiling. I made gestures for him, thanking for what he had delivered that evening, and he saw me and repeated the gesture. Guys like him and Tiesto made me want to be a DJ, because they gave me life worthing experiences. Now, many years later, I finally got into DJing, for about three months only and I'm about to start producing. Anyway, it was nice to watch this and get to know Armin a bit. We have the law degree in common, lol.

..and today, after 10 years, he hosts the 1000th ASOT episode with a celebration that sells out in less than 30minutes during a world wide pandemic. He's a fan of his fans and that's why they will never leave him.
My respect for Armin has only increased after watching this. Big ups Armin. Fan of you forever - I'll still remember you in 10 years =).

I have always believed in God, and every time I see this film, my faith is strengthened more and more to it. Born to change the dreams and lives of many people around the world. Armin, no. You will never be forgotten. The best dj / producer of all time should not be forgotten. I honestly do not know what will become of all of us who have created your music as a lifestyle, if tomorrow you are no longer. Not imagine the world without your music. The idea of thinking about it terrifies me. No king over you. The King Of Trance is the best DJ in the world.

Try searching Cathy burton I Surrender on spotify. And its probably a custom mix for the documentary if you can't find the exact version.

It’s been a little over 11 years from the release of this documentary and he’s still in the top 5 DJ’s in the world.
While it’s true this new generation of dance music fans gravitate towards a different style than what he brings, he’s still one of the very best in the world.
His brand and his company are immovable, they’ve stood the test of time by adapting and evolving, and people who don’t recognize it or feel he’s a sold-out are missing the point or just don’t understand business.
As a long-time fan, I’m glad he’d made terms with the volatile nature of success many years ago, as I’m sure even if he had not still been atop the industry, he would have still put his all in everything regardless, and would have not been discouraged by being in a ‘lesser’ place.
Many years ago I thought, “as long as he’s headlining Ultra and Tomorrowland, he’ll still be one of the best,” but thankfully, the industry is now shaped in a different way, and with a successful partnership with one of the best, newly emerging festival brands, Untold, an event brand that keeps selling out arenas around the world, A State Of Trance, and a global dance music audience that’s focusing more and more on the underground, I’m sure Armin will stay at the top until the day he eventually retires.

This is great. In an industry a world of fame that's just so full of negativity, sell outs, fame, shame, etc all that comes with that like say compared to that of American "artist" such as idk jay z awful but perfect example of the stupid illuminati sell out bs the bafumet cult symbology lyrics etc everything so in ur face so blatant! It's wonderful to see the actual postitive side, that of the trance family world these guys truly appreciate their fans & vibe with them resonate in such a more passionate way that if one isn't passionate about what they're doing the music & everything then they will fail. Most Americans can't handle as many years of fame as armin has without getting massive egos drug problems constant drama etc. armin breaks every stereotype he's a nice guy isn't cracked out & even if he does do like mdma or something on the down low its not the type of thing that one can make into a problem like the other drugs even alchohol is more harmful. But still he's a nice humble guy doesn't have a big head he's smart he's actually a lawyer not sure if that was stated in this or not. Now he's got 2kids and an amazing wife too to stay with such a hectic constant schedule he's had for what 20yrs now? I'd love this to be my job been a fan since 1999 am so passionate about this music. I could do it if it weren't for disabling arthritis & other health issues not deadly just painful. That plus a lack of funds for the gear is all that's holding me back. But it's such a breath of fresh air to see that people can be famous and not have all the bs attached to it like most do fall into a stigma. I can't even be bothered to keep up with top pop 40 n hippop now using edm sounds more n more has its good n bad double edge sword like anything else. But this is why I love the Dutch music and musicians & can stand the top 40 pop non artist who are on the radio especially in the US so out of hand the rock star mentality is destroying the culture & youth over here not sure about the rest of the world but I wouldn't want to be famous in the US music world. Also the Dutch & Netherlands seem to have a better ear for music too a much harder to please crowd over there where someone like armin is considered "too mainstream" when in America he's barely heard of unless u seek him out he's not on tv MTV radio unless he helps a top 40 artist on a track or something but people don't pay as much attention to the singers who don't write their own songs only reason so many got "talent" multi-talents required now in US, ya gotta be a jack of all trades master of none, sing, dance, supposedly write songs, act, and any other stupid thing in order to compete. Well the reason is cuz they don't make their own stuff unlike armin who produces his own music and spins which some consider to not even be any art form but let them try it & even sound good let alone beat match transition and have their own unique sound to stand out from the rest of the world. It's good we have beat matching software now but that brings in more competition I almost want to hear a mistake in beat matching now lol just to know its a human and not like not a dj pauley d from jersey shore lol. Using serrato over ableton (what armin uses the good stuff real artist use)

I’ve seen A year with AvB countless times, I can’t help and cry every time because I want to feel live all that energy, emotions I feel watching it. You’re not only the best DJ, you are like god..some people pray, I listen to trance. I have never felt like „wow this is so beautiful“ and cry just because of music, but now I do.

A good Dj used make the tracks flow into eachother without ever noticing when a song ends and a new one starts. Armin was in Norway yesterday and the tracks was just cut straight into eachother. Not good at all. Everyone can do that, but I guess that is a DJ nowadays.....
