Chris is not only a great guitar player but a very good person. Mardi Gras in Galveston he invited me and my kids to the show, took time to introduce us to everyone backstage. He always remembers me at the shows. ❤
Chris is simply one of the most wonderful musicians/guitarists/sweet humans in the world! There is no one else like him, a totally unique and awesome player/human!!
Chris still remembers my Mom's phone number from when they were kids. I love seeing him when he comes back to SA and he always tries to make everyone in the room feel important. Definitely one of my favorite people in the world, and he was a huge inspiration for me as a bass player.
I saw Chris at Antone's in Austin in 2018. I have followed him since Sugar Strat Magic but the experience of Chris Duarte live at full power is really astonishing. The energy, his music as a vibrational force he throws at the stage is overwhelming. I can't say enough about this man. Love his music and his last record is superb.
Hearing the Texas Sugar album profoundly changed my life. Along with SRV Chris is my most important influence and inspiration. I'm so thankful to have his music in my life.
@@EveryoneLovesGuitar Thank you for doing this interview. As big a fan as I am I haven't gotten to see much like this from Chris and I really enjoy it.
His memory is impeccable, his regular fans such as me after seeing him at 16 with my dad remembered us by name after the first few times, now over 20 years later he makes us feel like part of his family. Not only does he make my jaw drop and my eyes go into a refusal to blink when he plays in front of your face , the best of all is his realness and kindness to people he meets. Literally one of my favorite person I've ever met
Yes, I agree @lakcunha7654 - thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 ! Had the pleasure to meet Chris just a few weeks after we did this interview. Gracious, kind and friendly as anyone could be... enjoy your weekend
Thanks for doing this interview, he deserves it. His story needs to be told ❤ it's a shame his type of music isn't main stream, he's a legend but he feels happy to accomplish what he set out to do and made people happy, love that answer.
Impeccable is an understatement I first met chris as an 11 year old when he did an in-store performance at my dad's record store . I hadn't seen him for over 15 years and he recognized me on sight and came right up to me saying it was greate to see me again and gave me a hug . Chris is truly the kind of musician you wish all others were . I have met so many musicians that you'd think were cool people only to find out they were pricks . Chris is absolutely not one of them
Been following Chris since the first album. Saw so many shows with John Jordan & Chris playing his Strat. Such great times. He was supposed to be the next SRV & he could’ve been. But his guitar knowledge is so much more than sticking with straight blues. Still going strong after all these years
I have been following Chris for about 21 years. I can tell you that he is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. I believe it comes out in his lyrics as well as his guitar playing.
I got to see Chris a few weeks ago in Portland, Oregon. It was so amazing to see him out here on the West Coast. A tremendous talent and a major force on the guitar.
Chris plays with such emotion I was one of the people who asked him if he was alright... So glad he got clean and just kept blowing me away every time I saw him...I felt sorry for his guitar... There's not a cord on the guitar that isn't hit ...PURE ENERGY..OFF THE CHAIN...NEVER MISS HIM WHEN HE'S TOWN Doesn't get any better!
Thanks for your kind words @ericcrowder4451 and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫ Saw Chris in concert a few weeks after we did this interview, he's amazing and a lovely guy! Thanks for listening Eric!
I've seen Chris 38 times. He is an Amazing guitar player. All the other guitar players in his league are no longer with us. Stevie. Roy. Johnny. Beck. I try to turn on young players to go see Chris. After he goes, there is no one left that kills it playing the blues. Picky Pete
Finally getting a chance to see Mr Daurte in May at the Token Lounge. I've been a fan for years and hoping to shake his hand..maybe some talent will rub off on me!
Thank you for listening @TREVORJB101! 🎉🔥😇 As a side note... we hung out for a bit when he was here in town, I shook his hand.... still only play like myself. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did!
This is sooooo good. Great interview with a great guy. Actually, I just saw Chris tear it up at the Dallas International Guitar Festival yesterday (5/7).
Chris always loved to play Fenders. His 63. And his 2nd 63. Yet Fender gives out signature models to tik tok or Instagram players but skip over many great players like Chris, Indigenous’s Mato Nanji etc. I could go on a lot longer but I won’t.
We need you back in Austin, Texas Duarte. He’s been down same road as Stevie, Jimmie Vaughan, and Doyle Bramhall ll! Bring the real music back to Austin, Duarte!
Thanks for the Great interview. I have been a Duarte fan since the 90’s when I saw him first in Corpus Christi. Fortunate to see him regularly until he left Texas. I still have the rare tulip shirt. I really enjoyed the Gibson 335 period and Mysterious Quartet Helsinki. Curious, what happened to John after dropping out to work with Kinky Freeman’s campaign?
Saw Chris back in the mid nineties in Greenville,S.C. at a outdoor concert. He tore it up. I've always been into the blues and he crushed it. Was wondering where he went. Great interview.
Great interview. Texas Sugar Strat Magic is one of my favourite albums, so many incredible numbers. After Stevie passed it kept that kind of "floor it" Texas blues alive and moving in an amazing funky direction direction. I've been listening to it regularly for almost 30 years now, and still trying to figure out how to play a lot of it. Chris is phenomenal and so inspiring. I've been gigging a version of his Big Legged Woman and a Tin Pan Alley/Shiloh concoction for years. This is a great TH-cam channel too.
I found it incredibly helpful. Check out the workbook on amazon, that would be my advice - work a few of the steps and see how it goes. I think everyone has a different combinations of "solutions" for personal growth. It's never "only" one thing, but for me this one thing took me very far, John. All the best man...

Right on Pete! Thank you for listening 🔥 🎶 🎸
I remember watching Chris at the black cat on 6th Street late 80s and it was a big inspiration for me as a young Texas guitar blues player.
Glad you enjoyed the interview @wrdyke, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
When Chris had Buddy Guy hang his head in disbelief after he showed up over Buddy's solo in 5 long years should be in your top 3. I knew it 😁
Chris is amazing and I love his girl Beth!
Great interview! I saw Chris live lots of times in the early 90s in Austin… to me he’s the closest spirit to SRV… a true artist
Glad you enjoyed the interview Doug, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !

I did not know of his playing and work, I might be an ignorant European, 😄.
But he’s such a nice and uplifting guy!
I’ll be checking his music out.
🖖
haha not at all... Chris hasn't gotten anywhere near the publicity or love he deserves, even here in the states. Thanks for listening and enjoy!

Don’t forget his dvd. Axploration.
I remember early in AA I told my sponsor I got this cuz my name is Will and I've got willpower I was laughed out of the building
Probably heard a lot more like that in the rooms I'm sure :-)
Chris got dumped like we all do.
Rock on brpther.
He used to always do his mic checks reciting Shakespeare
Freddie and Albert kings the two other BLUE'S men that are just as satisfying as B.B. maby more beacaise they don't get as much commercial acclaim.
Freddie one of my top favorite players, love his tone and ferocity!
One of the loudest shows I ever witnessed. Gilly's Dayton, Ohio
That is cool @punchdog9205! Thanks for listening 💥🎶🔥
