    That is unbelievable - after trying almost anything to get this printer back to life our despair had reached the point where we just didn't care anymore and I followed you steps and bridged the fuse - after putting everything back together the printer actually and unbelievably came back to life and works. You are a genius!

    Thanks for putting this out here, just to check:
    1. How can I be sure that the the fuse has blown?
    2. Do I remove the fuse first or do I just solder the wire to the fuse?
    Thanks again for the help!

    Such a simple fix, it only took me 10 minutes to save a $400 printer! THANK YOU.

    Thanks for posting this! I was able to fix my parent's M283! I removed the fuse and put down some solder in it's place.
    Your video saved my parents printer. Thanks again!

    I'd like to join the club here and thank you for posting this, I bought a M283CDW from a local government auction for $14... sadly it powered up but the screen remained blank. I stumbled across this video and (after a fight with the side panel) pulled the circuit board out and dropped a bit of solder over F18. I put it (partially) back together and powered it up... voilia! The screen works! I was able to connect it to my home WiFi and then print a test page... not bad for $14! For anybody stumbling across this now, the side panel IS a pain to get off, I started from the front/top corner and started prying it off with two large flat-head screwdrivers, sort of "walking" them towards the top/rear. Once the top of the panel was loose it was easy to work it the rest of the way off the bottom.
    Don't be dumb like me though, I only put one screw in the circuit board for testing, then I got excited when it worked and put the side panel back on before putting the other three screws on first 😞

      I started repairing the printer for a friend and he told me that there wasn’t much info on the net so i decided to film this after the repair 😢 but wanted to share this with everyone to help i should have started filming from the beginning with more details maybe next video if i come across a new project thanks for the feedback glad you fixed your printer

    Thanks! Absolutely worked. For the person that asked below, using a volt-ohm meter you can check the continuity across the fuse to verify its blown. Also, to improve this video, some more detail on removing the side panel, it takes a bit of effort and you I was concerned I was going to break the panel. Finally, the fuse is a very small SMD part. Soldering a jumper takes a bit of skill due to the small size however, the entire effort is worth it. Thanks for doing this video post.!!!!!😀

    *MUST WATCH *
    I watched this video 8-9 months ago and it got my printer working with no problems . At time of viewing it was the only video available and is working flawless since.
    I should have commented then making it easier for others to find this video when I first did the fix I don’t believe there was any comments . Looking now I see this video also helped others.
    Thank you so much for taking time to post this and being detailed where one is also able to follow along.

    Adding my vote too, fix worked. Just add the slightest bit of solder across J18. Don’t apply your soldering iron to the chip itself, just add a bit of solder to the top . Thank you for this excellent video.

    Absolutely brilliant - printer man couldn't fix it, HP didn't want to know and this guy has the answer. Didn't fancy messing with solder so bought a new formatter board 7KW75-60001 off SWZN on Ali Express £65 inc PP and it worked perfect! Worth it because printer was 14 months only - will buy Brother next time.

    Worked for me! Nice.
    Undoing the plastik cover was a bit tricky, use a flat head screwdriver to help and it will come off. There was only one screw holding it in place as shown in the video.
    Unsoldered the F18 resistor and bridged the gab with solder. esessentially just shorted the spot.

    It worked like a charm. HP made that fuse F18 to trash your printer after 2 years of use and buy a new one, they are Evil and they will rot in Hell

    Worked great put a multimeter over that fuse and it was indeed blown, tossed it and bodged in a wire; all better.

    Hi, I`ve done this fix on three 283s now, all working, thanks
    I tried to find your video again but it`s difficult without putting "formatter board repair" in the title, as this is the thing people should be searching for if they know the part they need
    Also I`m wondering how you found this issue and if anyone knows the fuse`s function and the ongoing issues wich may result in it not being able to blow again
    The last board I fixed my clumsy soldering skills pulled the fuse off the board, underneath was to two solder ring holes which were easier to bridge than the fuse itself
    Once again thanks

    I have this exact problem. I would like to get the correct fuse or one that resets properly. Can you point me in the direction where I can find something like that? I don't know how to identify the fuse itself. Thanks!

    • @a3azalnaasify
      @a3azalnaasify  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the one i had was blown i didn’t know what value it was, i did search online not much out there but a 1.25A SMD Fuse should be fine I don’t think on that board they would use a higher one if you do find the correct value please share with us. Thank you again

  • @hssssssssssss

    Thanks it worked for me! But will there be any problems with bypassing the fuse?

    • @a3azalnaasify
      @a3azalnaasify  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its best if you order the fuse you can buy it inline but a thin wire should be ok 0.2

  • @ps-dn7ce

    How did you know the fuse was blown?

    • @ps-dn7ce
      @ps-dn7ce ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Btw, this worked for me - I've managed to fix the blank screen following your advice. However, I just covered the top of the fuse with solder and didn't fix additional wire.
      Thank you for putting this online!

    So do you just solder the wire to the fuse and it's fixed?

    • @a3azalnaasify
      @a3azalnaasify  ปีที่แล้ว

      Test your fuse first if its blown then yes just solder a wire connecting both ends of the fuse.

  • @carloscarrasco450
    @carloscarrasco450 ปีที่แล้ว

    So just solder new wire there or replace the fuse?

    • @a3azalnaasify
      @a3azalnaasify  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can get a fuse with correct value its the right way but this was my personal printer so i just used a thin wire because I didn’t have similar size smd fuse.
