With the color of the cart, I thought from the thumbnail it actually went underwater. They really should make a coaster that dives underwater, even for just a bit.
If you look to the right , the blue rail roller coaster is The Griffin. It does go under water. Only very briefly. I rode it the day after I saw it on the Discovery channel.
Back in the 1980's and 1990's wife and I would go to Busch Gardens every year and first ting we would do was ride the Lock Ness Monster 5 or 6 times in a row. Fandamtastic!!! Busch is way better than Disney
I meen in all honesty it's abit of a stupid comparison, busch gardens and disney have a completely different target audience, Disney is for family's and small children and busch gardens is for thrill seekers
I can remember riding this when it was the only major coaster visible in the scenic landscape. It's such an iconic ride and I hope they have sense enough to keep it around.
Bush Gardens Williamsburg is my favorite all time amusement park. There are other parks with better rides but the setting and the themes make it a true classic. Roller-coasters are usually just big fun monstrosities but the Lockness Monster was a true beauty to look at with its loops nestled in the valley above the water. Walking the path below you were just 15 feet or so below the track. When both trains were going through the loop at the same time, it was picture perfect.
I used to love that ride. I've rode it many times. The last time was about 10 years ago. I knew then it would be my last trip to Bush Gardens. Arthritis had made it extremely painful for me. Not only the rides but the walking up and down hills was very hard for me. If i go back to a theme park, I would have to have access to a wheelchair or something and i don't believe that's possible at Bush Gardens with all the hills and stairs. Thanks so much for posting this video. Experiencing something i thought I'd never experience again through your video was truly wonderful.. 💖
I'm pretty sure there are wheel chair accessible ways to get around most areas of the park because of the ADA act and Busch Gardens in Tampa rents scooters so Williamsburg location probably does too. Nessie is a little rough by the standards of modern coasters but some of the newer coasters are a bit smoother...
They have wheelchair access in the fast que. Also, they are re tracking the entire coaster. Should be much smoother. Expected to be ready by spring of this year.
Its a fun ride for sure. The back row is a little rough, but love being pulled down the hills and through the loops. The track could definitely use some smoothing out. Still fun and a real classic.
I rode this the very first day it opened. The little fakeout at the beginning, followed by the real drop, was an unforgettable experience. A fantastic coaster in every way.
I first rode this coaster as a child (5 or 6), and I have sadly watched it fall into disrepair despite the parks efforts to keep it's original and Iconic coaster relevant and attractive to riders . The lights no longer work in the tunnel... at least not like they used to. They removed the monster's face that was a jump scare at the end of the tunnel. They had to de-sync the trains so that they would no longer perform the loops together... which was a major marketing factor back when it was first opened. The track has become SOOO bumpy, it's hard to ride (almost painful). HOWEVER; I was very pleased to hear that they are investing significant time and money into a re-tracking project for this beautiful beast. Here's hoping they can return Ole' Nessy to her former glory.
Back in the 80's & 90's my wife worked at a company that gave the employees and their families free passes to BGW. We were only 1hr from Williamsburg, so we went 4 or 5 times every season. Fun times. Rode Loch Ness many times. It was my favorite.
I know what you mean, i live about 20 miles from Hershey, PA and have season passes to Hersheypark and 1st ride I always get on to warm up plus I still love it is the Superdooper Looper, when that first came out it was terrifying 40+ years ago, still love it
Makes me wish that King's Island still kept their vortex as I won't ever go there because of that! Even nothing lasts longer forever I understand but how does this stay open and vortex being gone service life?
Nessie opened in 1978 so she turned 45 this year. She was my first adult coaster and I still try to grab a ride on her every time I go to the park. I was 6 when she opened but I didn't have the courage to ride her until I was 13.
One of my favorite rides at Busch Gardens!!! Remember when they had flashing strobe lights in the tunnel? I used to be terrified of it when I was in my early 20s. Now it's my warm up ride. I'll go on any of the big roller coasters now! Fearless Granny!
Thx for bringing back some good memories! When I was a kid back in late 70's/80's we used to go to BGW on odd years & Kings Dominion on even years for EOY school trips - good times! (Teachers sold BGW as "educational" since they had the whole colonial vibe theme going)
My sister and I road Rollercoasters when we were younger. I remember our trip to Cedar Pointe. I think the Rapter had just opened new that year. I pray that she knows what she deserves. I know she knows she had her time. This is my time now.
As a child my brothers forced me to ride that and I cried because I was so afraid. It’s not so scary now 😂. Thank you for that fun walk down memory lane
I got to ride about two weeks after it first opened. I lived in VA for a short time, coming from CA. It was really exciting for me as I had always gone to Magic Mountain with the Revolution, which has one loop. After getting off the ride, I was given a small button that read, “I survived the Loch Ness Monster.” I collected 4 buttons that day.
Loved this ride as a kid and my son a few years back had me ride it with him 5 times in a row. Brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. Great video
HOLY SHIT….!!! RODE THIS SUCKER 15 TIMES IN ONE DAY…. WAY BACK THE FIRST YEAR IT WAS OPEN…!! WHAT A BLAST FROM THE PAST FOR ME…. THANKS FOR THE RIDE..🎢🎢🎢🎢🎢
I love how it meanders its way down for a little journey from station to lift hill. I love the yellow. Its got the classic Arrow multi-lift hills and of course some painful, yet enjoyable inversions. This is a classic.
My first trip to BGW was in 98. Took my kids who were 3 then and went back a few times since with season passes. As time passed the added Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, The Griffin, etc. Missed riding Drachen Fire... Many fond memories and always loved this park.
This used to be my favorite park and ride when my children were little girls.(35 yrs ago) I love the tunnel and lop but the fact that it went all over the park was the best…It’s the first thing you should do when you come ….
im not big into coasters and amusement parks but this one is super sick looking i love the location. the top of the coaster in the canopy of the trees pretty cool
1:44 Imagine being the first one riding that day in the front seat of this coaster on a fine summer morning when there’s a spider web across that tunnel opening!! 😂🤣😱😆
Definitely a bit tight, but as someone who’s ridden it in recent years, I can tell ya that the loops are not at all painful so if you go to ride this, you won’t have to worry about any of that. However, they are going to be replacing pieces of track soon if they haven’t started already
There's a space between the words, by the way, it's Loch Ness Monster. Just mentioning as it's named after the Scottish legend that there's a 'monster' in Loch Ness 😊
I would give anything ro see what the track looks like in the cave..that looks like a dope coaster but im in California all i got is magic mountain Disneyland and Knott's
Ok... How many of you have seen deer grazing in the evening in the spot after the tunnel spiral??? I have been honored many times!! I love this beautiful coaster..
With the color of the cart, I thought from the thumbnail it actually went underwater. They really should make a coaster that dives underwater, even for just a bit.
Bestie I’m pretty sure that’s borderline waterboarding
If you look to the right , the blue rail roller coaster is The Griffin. It does go under water. Only very briefly. I rode it the day after I saw it on the Discovery channel.
Yea
Me too😅
I thought so too
Back in the 1980's and 1990's wife and I would go to Busch Gardens every year and first ting we would do was ride the Lock Ness Monster 5 or 6 times in a row. Fandamtastic!!! Busch is way better than Disney
It certainly is…So much more fun, things to do and see. With shady trees and October fest (lol)…not ungodly hot …just nice.
I meen in all honesty it's abit of a stupid comparison, busch gardens and disney have a completely different target audience, Disney is for family's and small children and busch gardens is for thrill seekers

Loch Ness. Loch is pronounced with a ‘hochhh’ sound, as if you’re going to spit.

Most major parks in the US are ADA accessible, even if they don't look like it
This was the first rollercoaster I ever rode, at 7 years old back in the 80s. It cemented my love of great rollercoasters.
105 feet tall--once was the tallest, fastest coaster in the world. BGW offers a behind the scenes coaster tour. HIGHLY recommend it.
Now they are bout to open a rollercoaster with a 500 ft drop, unbelievable! Can’t wait for POV ride!
@@coreymouton3900 STEVEprins2O2O❤WVL Could you go to sleep with need to know no hunk about
As a Scottish person who lives fairly near Loch Ness and who loves thrill rides, I am making it my life’s mission to go on this before I’m gone.
Same
You might also want to try the Nessie Coaster in Hansa Park, northern Germany. It's around 50 years old, too.
Not really that great of a roller coaster but the rest of the park is worth the trip.
It’s an incredible coaster
The setting is beautiful with all the trees. I especially like all the screaming in the tunnel. Fun ride.
Can you start including faraway shots at the beginning or end of the vids to show what the ride looks like? Or even what the seating/cars are like?
The tunnel part sounded creepy with all the people screaming like banshees.
Its a fun ride for sure. The back row is a little rough, but love being pulled down the hills and through the loops. The track could definitely use some smoothing out. Still fun and a real classic.
The laugh when they entered the tunnel 😂😂
I don't know how many times i got on this rollercoaster, i just love it!
True! Its a great ride!
Espectacular❤😊😊😊

This looks like an super fun ride! The scenery of this coaster is epic!
That's the exact word. Epic. This is how a roller coaster should really be. Thank you.
I rode this 20 years ago. What a blast from the past. Thanks, I had forgotten about that 👍
First went on it in 1981
@@dennissmith5807 I was 11 so that actually puts me at 1986 :) wow 37 years ago. Whew I'm getting old
IKR!
I rode this thing a few times back in the '80s but I don't remember the tunnel being part of it. When did they add that?
I rode this back in the 80s. My favorite non-wooden rollercoaster! Thanks for posting.
That looks like so much FUN! 😅
This ride has to be nearly 50 years old and was my first ever roller coaster ride. Glad to see it's still there :)
I know what you mean, i live about 20 miles from Hershey, PA and have season passes to Hersheypark and 1st ride I always get on to warm up plus I still love it is the Superdooper Looper, when that first came out it was terrifying 40+ years ago, still love it
Ya they need to get rid of a lot of these old coasters.
Makes me wish that King's Island still kept their vortex as I won't ever go there because of that!
Even nothing lasts longer forever I understand but how does this stay open and vortex being gone service life?
😖

I went on this ride in the late 70’s. Incredible it’s still around.
Que park fantástico, passando pela floresta ficou ótimo...
Wow I’ve never seen a ride that’s built in and among the trees! That’s cool
Thanks for posting this! Great memories as a 12 year old 42 years ago!
One of my favorite rides at Busch Gardens!!! Remember when they had flashing strobe lights in the tunnel? I used to be terrified of it when I was in my early 20s. Now it's my warm up ride. I'll go on any of the big roller coasters now! Fearless Granny!

I rode this coaster when BG first year opening. It was renovated this past winter. The tunnel use to have smoke and fire in it.
The Big Bad Wolf was my fav back then. The lines were crazy long , but once that first drop hit over the water ....it was worth it! o7
my very first rollercoaster that i went on that had a loop back in the 90s, good memories!
I grew up in Williamsburg, rode that coaster on first day it opened! And many many more times!
Wow what a cool ride, thanks for sharing this experience 🎢

Woah, how cool !
The loop crossing inside another loop is wild

My favorite roller-coaster for 35 plus years

Surprised they'd paint a ride called "Loch Ness Monster" yellow and blue....
The lock ness ride is actually green and yellow. (in the video it does look blue. ) I know the colors because I went to that bush gardens growing up.
i was waiting for a corny, ageing loch ness monster to appear somewhere in the water : (
This used to be my favorite park and ride when my children were little girls.(35 yrs ago) I love the tunnel and lop but the fact that it went all over the park was the best…It’s the first thing you should do when you come ….
im not big into coasters and amusement parks but this one is super sick looking i love the location. the top of the coaster in the canopy of the trees pretty cool
Great America has a ride like this
My all time favorite coaster!!
My favorite park and coaster of all time!
Got on this in 1982 during 8th grade field trip. I’d cut my left nad off to go back to those times.
The screams in the tunnel are awesome and funny..👍🏽😄
Loved this coaster as a kid. First looped coaster i ever did
WOW!THANKSFORSHARING!
It truly a nice coster ,not scary but fun ❤
Started out pretty pedestrian, but that tunnel was awesome....pretty dark in there in the daytime....must be pitch black at night!
This was the first roller coaster I ever went on, circa 8th grade, having being terrified of roller coasters prior.
this video is so clear. very well taken
It looks smooth, the loops are nice and tight, and it's got a good amount of black-out time in the tunnel...looks fun to me
I hope they never tear down this ride!! One of my very favorites!
its great that the coasters go through the trees!
waaay better then these artificial concrete-flatland parks!
that tunnel lasted forever, very cool! never been there, been to the one in tampa
I loved riding this when I was a kid :)
I went on this twice in a row and had the worst whiplash from any roller coaster I had ever been on. Painful, but totally worth it.
I love the way meander through the video while everyone behind them is going mental😂
This was my first coaster, I was absolutely terrified! lol Now, it is still my sentimental favorite.
1:44 Imagine being the first one riding that day in the front seat of this coaster on a fine summer morning when there’s a spider web across that tunnel opening!! 😂🤣😱😆
...Still one of the best steel coasters in the u.s.
LNM is getting refurbished- can’t wait to ride the updated version this year.
They stopped the strobes in the tunnel because it can cause seizures. It was a safety thing. Still an awesome ride.
That first loop looked painful, but a cool looking coaster all the same!
Definitely a bit tight, but as someone who’s ridden it in recent years, I can tell ya that the loops are not at all painful so if you go to ride this, you won’t have to worry about any of that. However, they are going to be replacing pieces of track soon if they haven’t started already
Finally! A POV loop not looking at the floor.
There's a space between the words, by the way, it's Loch Ness Monster. Just mentioning as it's named after the Scottish legend that there's a 'monster' in Loch Ness 😊
Nice to see some flat-ride POV. Well done.
Loch Ness and there is no loch? What a shame.
With roller coaster as very fast and good thing
That long dark tunnel is best i ever seen on a rollercoaster
Their Magic show is Awsome!
I would give anything ro see what the track looks like in the cave..that looks like a dope coaster but im in California all i got is magic mountain Disneyland and Knott's
Fun
That was pretty cool :)
At first view, I thought the thumbnail was cars on a road going down into a large body of water.
Sadly I missed out on it on a trip to BGW in 2021. It was 5 hours south of my place. This POV is the closest I can get to the ride for years...
I was there on day one! Hope she never shuts down!
Scary!
Nice ride.
That first loop looked harsh
I miss the days when they’d run 2 cars and they hit the apex of the entwined loops simultaneously.
I rode this back in the 90s. Amazing it's still running. Is the Big Bad Wolf still there?
Roller coaster in forest💚
Man, those Arroe transitions hurt even when just watching them on TH-cam
the front is always the best place to be, why, because some people get sick and you don't want to be downwind lol
Hats offf to ya❤
Ok... How many of you have seen deer grazing in the evening in the spot after the tunnel spiral??? I have been honored many times!! I love this beautiful coaster..
The similarities to Arrow’s Orient Express (RIP) make me want to ride this!!
Awesome ride!!!!!!
What is the significance/theme connection to a Scottish lake and mythical creature?
The original theme of the park was france, germany and UK, which included scotland.
This wad also one of the first coaster of its kind when constructed. I grew up there, and worked the original contruction of the park.
At 1:45, listen for some dude's evil laugh. LOL!
1:31 bro this part looks like it would break your back xD.
