    So glad you did the down recall. So many birds fly into trees and can’t come down.

    You are amazing! I haven't managed to teach our grey much of anything, mostly because I haven't had the confidence. Watching the repetitions, listening to you carefully, I feel I have a way in now. I LOVE your relationship with your birds!! I LOVE how you set up your bird room!! I learn so much from your videos, thank you.

    Thank you soo much for your time and effort into making these videos!! We recently got a Pacific Blue Parrotlet (Hannah) and she is 11 months old( we got her at 6 months). She was living in a very small cage at the pet store, and the people would just grab her every time some kid wanted to hold her or pet her, so she developed a phobia (i guess) of hands and just bit us if we brought our hands too close to her. After a few weeks of getting her, we stumbled upon your channel, and we have tried to follow your advice to the best we can, and Hannah has pretty much completely overcome her fear of hands and lets us pet her head and other stuff like that. She still bites every now and then when we approach her with our hands, too fast, but she has learned how to step up, wave, spin, and lots of other stuff, thanks to you and your videos! Hopefully, she will overcome her fear of hands completely within a few more months!! Anyways, to sum it all up, thank you soooo much for your amazing videos, they really helped our bonds with Hannah. Thx!

    This is great stuff. Ive discovered from it that my cockatiels are great at flying down. And pretty good at landing on moving targets. But have little strength at the mo for flying up. So am incorporating that into our training. Great reminder though to not strain muscles with over exercising. Thanks.

    My cockatiel seems to have her own training regiment, from the top of her cage she takes a dive and then starts flying around the room in a bunch of different patterns, some with wide arches and some with sharp turns. I think its her way of testing out new flight feathers.

    @Flock-Talk, imho, you are the shit when it comes to articulating and demonstrating training methods. If you were looking for any constructive criticism from a "pro youtube listener" :) I would work on iteratively improving your sound setup. You're coming in 5/5 but the quality could be much better. A little sound proofing and a shotgun or boom mic I think would do wonders. Cheers

    • @FlockTalk
      @FlockTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Believe me I know the echo is terrible! I can’t add much sound proofing because we record in the bird’s room so foam fixtures are just going to get destroyed or potentially ingested. I am looking in to getting a mic, leaning more towards a small one that can clip on to my shirt since anything big and fluffy is going to be asking for Newt to nibble at it!

      You can try to buy a variety of treats( e.g. seeds, nuts ) and see which treat they pick first. My conure loves pine nuts .

  • @aquavita1

    I have had my GC conure for 8 years. He only had his wings clipped when I got him from the breader. I have never clipped them since then. He is a pretty good flyer ( He can do many long laps if necessary), but it seams as he hates flying. He only flies if he is spooked or if we leave the room. Then, he does several laps searching for us in different rooms. However, if food is available at a short distance, he will just beg for us to move him to this place. I wonder whether it is a healthy behaviour for a conure.

    I have a cockatiel and I’ve had him for less than two weeks and he’s already very used to me, he can fly up and down but he always panics when I move a bit, after awhile I’ll start to try moving but he usually lands on my head or on the table

    me and my gf have decided to not clip him again. But since he got clipped so early in his life (i think he's about 10-12 weeks now)
    I don't really know when i can start taking steps to start his flight/recall training nor what to start with. Any advice is appreciated.

      Well it is hard and there are a lot of factors but for me this worked. I put a millet stick on my belly while laying down and my budgie ate it. I did that many times and it really helped me bond with him. Now he allways flies to me when he sees me even though he knows i dont have food with me.
      I hope this helps. Good luck.

      'Capture' the behavior by clicking and rewarding when it naturally sneezes or mimicks you saying "ah-choo"

    Is it bad if my birds don’t come out of the cage even though I don’t force them to and I leave the doors open so they can leave whenever they want I’ve had the parakeets for like 2 years now

    • @Isla-s6q
      @Isla-s6q 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very bad. They only feel safe in their cage by now and you need to be taking them out on your finger.
      Start slow. Just teach them step up again. When you see them get uncomfortable put them back.
      Keep taking them out until you can get 2-3 feet away from the cage.
      Watch a video for more information.

    Can you do a video an what to do if your birds fight

    • @ivagrujic248
      @ivagrujic248 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends. What kind of bird do you have? Are they both females? How big is their cage? How many food bowls are in their cage? Do they fight inside or outside the cage? There is a LOT of factors, so its really hard to make a whole video about it.

    I had the downward issue this morning withy young budgie. He was startled by an outside noise when I brought him out and he flew on top of the fridge. I thought I would have a problem getting him to come down because the flight training is only a few days started. He should be named Crash Bandicoot with the way he fly's hell for leather right now. Lol But, he did well and landed on me.
