Sincerely want to state what a credit you are to the brand through these videos John. B&O customer service is cold and non-existent, there is no customer interface whatsoever. I simply cannot understand why you are not supported and lauded for the work you put into the brand. The videos are professional and superb, excellent.
1. I like Ian’s honesty :). I think people should stop hiding if they use Facebook at work. It’s a part of a modern working culture - albeit with modest consumption :). 2. I’m in Manchester every 2-3 years and was last there this april. I made a decision to drop by the store, had only one attempt at it this time and when I found it, I figured I had missed your opening hours by 1 hour. Such a bad luck... 3. Nevertheless, interesting thoughts about the A9 and Edge. You make the decision potentially easy by suggesting that the Edge fills the space better while the A9 is more about clarity and detail in the sound. I had the impression I would prefer the A9 sound-wise. I also like the way B&O has made the round edge useful too with a very simple and elegant touch solution for changing tracks and turning the volume up/down. However, my heart is still pulling towards the Beosound 1 and Beolab 18. The latter especially due to that warmness in its design (the wood). Only trouble I have with speakers, as much as I love them, is that I have less use case for them these days when I have very little time and especially alone-time to lie down and just enjoy some gorgeous music without doing anything else. And for me, I just have to have that full experience of THAT warm sound quality coming from a B&O speaker and that kind of music that I find peace in. On the flipside, I have gone nuts with buying earphones and headphones in a few colours. The E8 2.0 are the perfect everyday «mobility» companion, they are always there in my bag for when I need them. The H8i are the perfect long-distance travel companion due to the right balance between size and sound, and the H9(i) surround my ears at times when I need more intimacy in the listening experience, growingly replacing even the speakers at home. Annoyingly, in the pursuit of sound quality, now the new H9 headphones have come out and got bigger sound, and even better ANC, while I’m still waiting for the Beoplay charging pads to release in other than black and pink :).
Great review John, thanks for this and all others. I currently have a soundstage which I love, but want more for music, is the A9 noticeably better for music?
damn it, might have to get an A9 now. Any advice how to get this past the misses? great video once again! one question though, did you play the wall mounted Edge or the one on the floor?
Hi Mike, it was the one on the wall that played in the video, that placement gives the best spread in a room. I prefer the look on the wall but prefer the sound on the floor a few inches away from the wall. If you look closely you can see the cover flapping away, I wish they made it rigid because that would drive me mad! Put a picture of your face on the cover, Mrs Mikipedi4 will be sure to love it!
4:58 do I understand this correctly, you’re an official B&O Store demonstrating a €2500 speaker, and your tip for disabling these annoying LEDs is to ... cover them up with electrical tape?
Hi Willi, I was kind of joking to be honest! My advice is to just use the Google Assistant. If you really don't like the Google Assistant buy a Generation 3 without it. It was a bit of inside joke referencing the BeoTalk Podcast that I sometimes take part in. The host Michael has BeoSound 1 with Google Assistant but doesn't like the mic being on, he was saying he didn't like the orange lights being on constantly when he disables it and asked me if the A9 is the same. The other hosts of the podcast and I were making fun of Michael telling him to just embrace Google or cover the lights with tape if it really bothers him that much. He wasn't keen on that solution either! John

Hey John, I just got the edge but I’m having issues playing back audio using my airplay (iPhone 8). Bluetooth works like a charm but I’d rather the lossless playback using the airplay. Sometimes the lag time is so much that a whole track can finish before it picks up. What could be the issue ?
@@BangOlufsenManchester I connected the Beolab 6000 to a BT device and sadly the sound feels too soft compared to the new speakers. It probably has to do with the amp that in the last 10-15 years moved from analog to digital. And we got used to the punchy sound that old systems cannot deliver.
@@YoramPomer Exactly that, older analogue amps tend to have a warmer, softer tone than modern digital ones. I quite like the old analogue sound but for crisp sparkling detail the modern amps are better suited. It all comes down to preference, some people accuse digital of being to harsh and clinical. Hey John, big fan of the channel. Hoping you can help me out. Moving on from my Beovox 5000 (cabinet) speakers and setting up my first wireless home system, via the Core. Was thinking of getting the Stage as the under TV speaker, the A9 in the den (open floor to living/TV area) and a Beosound 2 for the bedrooms. My old Beogram 4000 and Beolab 5000 will be connected to the core via line in, and the A9 in that room will give me a “listening room” experience for all my vinyl goodness. I was initially thinking of just getting another Beosound 2 because it’s more discrete but having read all the reviews I’m now more inclined to invest in an A9. The only issue is that the A9 will have to be wall mounted as I don’t have a good space to set it up on the floor. I’m a little weary of loss of sound quality/output from wall mounting the A9. Can you shed some light on it and general thoughts on a setup like this? Should I just got with Stage for TV, and BS 2 for bedroom and den?
