The teacher taught Chance maps with an activity students liked so much that he still remembers it, which is the pinnacle of teaching.
When he described it, a completely forgotten memory of making a map of my state out of salt dough in 4th grade came flashing back to me. That was such a cool activity! Almost 30 years later and I still so appreciate my 4th grade teacher.
While it is all good, he still didn't remember half of it 🤣 and the same nerd who knows how you supposed to hold lightsaber in Star Wars... At this point why even bother? Kids don't need this stuff. Teach them taxes maybe they'll remember something...

i learned US states from a wall-sized map the students put together piece by piece over the course of the year and its still one of my favorite class assignments. i brought in silks to hang over alaska as the aurora borealis and kids went nuts

As an elementary special education teacher I will say there is a lot of research to suggest students (especially with dyslexia) find it easier to spell when writing in cursive because it's about learning paterns as a whole word and not so much focus on individual letters. Interesting stuff, look it up if you ever want to know more about the benefits of cursive!

They are the smallest shrimp and most commercial fish companies use them as feed (for table shrimp, farmed fish, crabs, squid, exotic aquarium fish, etc). At my work, we grow them to feed to our fish for enrichment. In an ideal environment, they'll hatch in less than 24 hrs. They can live for a little bit but, from my experience, usually die and the water will get gummy in a little over a day after they hatch. The dried eggs are available and can last on the shelf for years. To hatch them, you put them in salt water and wait. They're actually really cute if you look at them under a microscope

This final round of Beopardy made me feel so nostalgic. I’ve not seen a password journal in decades. Angela’s enthusiasm for it confirms she had one no shame at all, they were so popular for the era all of the popular girls had one, along with the tamagotchi. Pairing the red IPod Nano with a DS Light was the way I went with show and tell. Whipped it right out of my Crocodile Hunter backpack.

I read it in elementary school and people 100% thought I was smart for it, not because of what the book was about but because it was over 500 pages and nobody liked reading.
