Amazing how your tutorial is 4 years and running, but the absolute BEST instructional there is. Btw- super jealous of what’s on your head lol hope you still have them!
WOW! I am black but I have fine, thin hair that locs up very slowly, so I always have at least several inches of new growth that is pretty unmanageable. I just ordered a crochet hook and gonna try this. Thank you for this!.
Dies this work for dreads that have already been formed and solid? Like say, 7 year old dreads? Because I've got spots that I need to get loose hair back into my dreads
queenmir bear good to know ! I unfortunately I had trouble finding a stainless steel .5mm crochet hook so I ended up ordering a .6mm hopefully it works out I have my dreads crochet every 8 to 12 weeks at the shop but I want to to start doing some maintenance my myself in between
I have tried over and over trying to use a crochet hook, my problem is the hair I pull through seems to pop back out after about 2 mins. The hair wont stay tight. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I have all sizes of hooks and have tried with all of them. Help!
+wingsonmyback1 Its going to be difficult to comment without seeing what you're doing. My guess is it would be the tightening and sculpting phase. Would you be interested in a training day? If there are enough people interested, i could arrange something
Im getting my hair locked currently sort of waiting for my hair to be a little bit longer but ive seen a hairdresser use this crochet machine thing it looked like the crochet end very small, but has a speed control all it does is move back n forth from slow to very fast - wondering if anyone knows the name of it?? have been trying to find it via Amazon but to no avail it just looked easier all she did was move it along the hair that was being locked anyway I was very impressed wanted to try myself cos it was like $200-450 to lock, rather expensive lol anyway cheers.
I have more newly formed dreads, theyre about 6 to 7 months old and i started off with a crop top hairstyle, top long sides shaved, im planning on re shaving the sides and back just like your dreadhawk tutorial, the only problem is that they are maturing very slowly. i regularly use the mango and lime tightening wax and wash them with a residue free shampoo, but they dont look as sculpted or "rope" like like those, theyre more flat, how can i fix this
So would you recommend that i clean all of the left over wax residue out with shampoo and stop using the wax all together or use it as little as possible
My dreads are about 1.5yrs old and I have teenie tiny ones framing my face, they are starting to get extremely thin due to my baby hairs falling out as I wash cuz my hair is very silky smooth.. I don't want to lose any dreads I've already combined 1 or 2 and really don't want to combine anymore, help? Tips, tricks, techniques??
Yes, it is the same process, tho synthetic hair doesnt give the exact result as human hair does as the material behaves slightly different. But yes, you can practise

Is a .5mm crochet hook the best size for dreadlocks maintenance if you have straight hair ?
Los BeTrappin Yes it is! It’s the smallest and best size to use.

Hi ,can you use a 1.0 if it's the only size you can get and will it work?
it will , but not as well and could be more prone to breaking hairs. You can get one online on our website

Sounds more like something with a felting needle than a crotchet hook, hope that helps.
Bro I believe it's called the Klixer... Search "dreadlock machine" here on TH-cam...

Quick question, when going in and out how frequently are you twisting the dread as you’re going in and out?
its all a continuous motion. The aim is to make all the hair create as many tiny knots as possible.
Really helpful thank you
No problems. Let us know if there are other videos you would like to see :)

Wax works against the locking process and leaves build up. Your essentially putting residue in by using it
So would you recommend that i clean all of the left over wax residue out with shampoo and stop using the wax all together or use it as little as possible
420Strongman apple cider and vinegar
Would this be used as a spray or as a dip, like spraying the mixture on my dreads after a shower or keep them soaked in it for a while

Can you practice this method on synthetic hair? Does it has the same effect?
Not really, no.
Yes, it is the same process, tho synthetic hair doesnt give the exact result as human hair does as the material behaves slightly different. But yes, you can practise
Hands down this is the bEst method. Is a 0.75 size needle too large?
you can only try it. id personally find it too big and not really optimum. but you might be able to get away with it.
can you just use a regular crochet hook? Like a plastic one for actual chocheting
