This is a manually constructed virtual sound environment using 3D spatial audio techniques.
When sound has been recorded as standard stereo audio, it loses all the information your brain uses to tell you where the sound is coming from. Spatial audio simulation allows us to regain a lot of this information. In this ambience, I have attempted to process, mix and position audio all around you using spatial audio technology to create a more immersive rain experience.

HRTF is a technology used to emulate spatial audio by attempting to mimic the acoustics of human hearing. It has been most widely adopted to allow games to portray accurate positional audio. It is now being used to enrich movie and music experiences via standards like Dolby Atmos.

A subscriber requested that I make a camping in the rain ambience but with thunder, so here it is.
I have changed the old ambience to bring different details forward in the mix; and added some new sounds including a ton of thunder (no harsh strikes though).
How exactly do you make it? Do you record actual rain then loop it?
@@ebrajack9335 Lots and lots of different sounds. Rain noise, impacts, water drops, and for this one lots of rain landing on umbrellas and other vinyl surfaces to replicate a tent. Then mix all of them together with spatial processing to make it more believable and immersive.

Dude... this is seriously great stuff. I would love to hear something of a raining city. Maybe a tornado moving through a city, or just a nice heavy rainfall with traffic.
Another idea is MRI machines. The sound of being inside a brain scan, which is actually a claustrophobic experience for some, so that could actually be helpful in multiple ways :)
Oh and also, the sounds of cracking ice! When the ice breaks and you hear the water underneath... ah yes
Could also do things like dolphins in the rain, or just other such combinations

I will, however it's difficult to do lightning strikes as they are very abrupt and loud, so I've mostly stuck to less intense thunder.

how do u make these sounds? are they recorded?
I make them by mixing together lots of different recordings of different sounds and processing them with spatialisation.
For example some of 'tent' sounds are actually just recordings taken under an umbrella, which sounds similar.
