Magic mouse: you are not going to have any wrist issues as long as you use a pad. I've been using it for years, no problems whatsoever. The placement of the charger is done with purpose, to avoid cables, and the design purpose is largely misunderstood: Apple doesn't want to suggest people that they should use cables. It only take a few minutes to charge and it lasts for weeks, so it's not a problem at all. It's not like charging your phone, something that needs to be done regularly.

I don't work for that long a time in one sitting, but also prefer the trackpad as I use an Apple laptop a lot, and having the same gestures, but with even more space, is a big plus for me.

I got a new Imac two weeks ago and the first thing I noticed was the mouse strained my wrist and didn't move smoothly across my desk. my trackpad is gen 1. my mouse is magic mouse 2, and I think I still prefer the trackpad. Just have to make sure to have spare batteries always charged. My wrist was instantly uncomfortable trying to use the magic mouse.

I have Macs, Windows, and Linux machines and right now my go to for all of them is the Logitech M575 trackball. Really thinking about trying this trackpad but what I am using now is so effortless with plug-and-play compatibility and ergonomics I think it might be a mistake for me. I still want one though but that cost is hard to swallow.

I personally have a really big hands for a men in this age, but magic mouse is absolute fine for me in terms of its ergonomics. There is a the thing with the shape of the apple mouse, everything depends on your grip, you really need to grip it in an apple way so it becomes comfortable

  • @Red00022

I would like to add that for me, the ergonomic issue was not the magic mouses' design, as I first thought. The culprit was the sitting ergonomics of the desk and chair along with the height and angles (just look up good sitting ergonomics while working on a desk computer). I would get wrist and hand cramping/pain from extended use. Try using a 90-100 degree angle of the forearm with minimal shoulder abduction/lateral movement of the shoulder joint, all discomfort is eliminated. Try it. I've noticed that people with longer legs than torso (me) tend to have this issue.

I'm using and needing both of them. The Mouse ist my main pointing device but the trackpad is more useful and easier for zooming in and for all the multi finger gestures to control the app windows. I can't renounce one of them. And the Magic Mouse isn't more worse, than any other Mouse by using it. Not in my opinion.

      @jackjohnson4216 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yo exactly!!!! I thought the exactly same thing. Knowing Jobs…it’s all about the design in terms of visual. He didn’t want a port on the side most likely. But as a result is the most inconvenient mouse ever since you can’t charge it and use it simultaneously

I have a Macbook Pro, which I use on a riser, so don't get much use out of the trackpad, but I do like to use it.
I was a long time windows user. I loved my HP laptops but the mouse pad was nothing like Apple's trackpad.
I bought the mouse due to relying on a mouse with my HP laptops. I do like using a mouse for things like drag and drop, but for general use, I wouldn't mid using a trackpad.
I also find the mouse uncomfortable if I'm not sat at my desk.
I am tempted by a trackpad. When they're better priced.
I also have a magic keyboard (model A1644). Do you know which model of trackpad will match best?

  • @Hart-en-Ziel

I'm testing the MX5 today and I'm not convinced that it's better than the Magic Mouse or trackpad. I started with the trackpad 1, continued with the 2 and the 3 is in my basket already. Why?
When comparing with the MX3, the pros are multi device connection and ergonomics**, while I still "need" to buy a trackpad or mouse for every computer I'm using.
But I mis the gestures already.
MX5 ergonomics are better, in a way. But, maybe, because I'm still finding my way, the MX5 isn't the device (for me) that "everyone" is so. It feels cramped, but this could be first hour issues.
    Any hint, opinions or remarks?

i just got my first imac and i was thinking what is magic trackpad and if it is worth it, apperently it is, i don't own one yet since i just have my magic keyboard and mice that came with imac, but when they break next upg ill get blackout version of magic keyboard and. trackpad, reason for trackpad is 3 in my case, first its gesture controled like mice, move hold or swipe along with press are the basic mice options with limited space to do them on which work on daily use, but in my gaming case it sucks, that is my second case, sensibiity, right now it feels like 3200 very slugish since i came from 10.000 on daily use feels bad to manuver it but gestures are worth it, all gestures work perfectly and save time, the only headache is reaching point a to b with mice so more surface of trackpad plus more functions should be better i think if it works as macbook that is, as for my last reason is wraist strain, during daily use its not a big issue since i can use it all day, where it does hurt is gaming with precision or apm since the mice is so sluggish when moving it makes extra strain on my wraist, i do have a gaming mice i used on my previous pc, but i use it rarely just like gaming is rarely also. anyway thats my opinion so far never owned one but i intend to buy it next. i own alot of apple products since it allways puts a smile on my face having reliable and good quarity products, never once felt annoyed, except 2 times, apple watch disgusting poor battery life, and airpods pro unreliable battery and connectivity.

If not I would bring back the 27' iMac that starts with the m2 chip at 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD and the 5k display with the max configurability at the m2 pro, 96GB of RAM, and finally, a 8TB SSD. You can do so by installing the imbushuo/mac-precision-touchpad driver, which is a Precision Touchpad driver for the Magic Trackpad 2. It enables the gestures you're talking about in Windows. 5-finger gestures aren't really supported I believe though, since these aren't implemented in Windows at all (not the fault of the driver, but needs to be supported from Windows' side).
