Then the conquerors came with superior technology and though we fought hard, we were taken, broken, and assimilated. Later, this history repeated again with the Native Americans.
We can't go back, but we can certainly go forward. The more we listen, the more we take the effort to read, the more we step out to preserve, the more we stand up and help our brothers and sisters on the reservations, the more we can ensure they will never leave us.

Brings tears. When I was little, I only read books about native people and animals. I read that white people walked with their toes slayed out, so I made sure mine pointed straight head. I remember thinking I didn't belong in this time and should be in an earlier time where I lived close to the land. This reality isn't real.
I sometimes sit outside just to listen to the music of nature and of the native americans. I may not be of native american desent but i am one at heart. I find the music and way of life peaceful and happy.

The library would be a good place to start. Read books and start researching your genealogy. If possible, visit the Cherokee themselves and their museums. Ask them what you can do to help them out. And most of all, practice what you preach. Take care of the Earth, all people, and the animals honestly and sincerely.

Brings tears. When I was little, I only read books about native people and animals. I read that white people walked with their toes slayed out, so I made sure mine pointed straight head. I remember thinking I didn't belong in this time and should be in an earlier time where I lived close to the land. This reality isn't real.
I sometimes sit outside just to listen to the music of nature and of the native americans. I may not be of native american desent but i am one at heart. I find the music and way of life peaceful and happy.
I can only say that my spirit is dancing tonight on so many levels. The stars, the moon, the river, the cool gentle breeze..... and a lakota prayer with music......

The library would be a good place to start. Read books and start researching your genealogy. If possible, visit the Cherokee themselves and their museums. Ask them what you can do to help them out. And most of all, practice what you preach. Take care of the Earth, all people, and the animals honestly and sincerely.
