Going into shadow keep a year and a half later I’m so thankful that Bungie listened to player feedback. The game has developed so much since, with gambit random rolls and raids and pinnacle weapons. It’s hard to believe it’s the same game, but I’m glad that I stuck through all the turmoil and have been along for the ride to watch d2 become the incredible game we all knew it could be.
I see we're in a similar boat. What a sad world we live in where Vanilla Destiny 1 kept me more engaged than D2 has. Bungie literally rebooted the series and learned NOTHING from 3 years of D1 development.
Eh, i really enjoy it. i'd probably be bored again in 1 or 2 months and switch back to warframe but its heading in the right direction. heroic strikes are usefull now. grinding rep for specific gear and ornaments is a thing. them vex weapons give you something to do everyday. no reason not to pick it up if you have an expansion pass. if the lack of shit to do bothers you too much and you don't have an expansion pass i'd advise against it though
The story element is kind of subjective but it kind of isn’t. Osiris has been hyped up for a while now and this was an incredible let down for what we thought would be a dark and deep issue with Osiris. Perhaps delving into the questions he was asking like how much of a guardians personality was made by the traveler or about actually trusting the traveler. Instead what we got was Osiris kiddy corner and everyone is friends with him again even though he was EXILED. Exiled for his teachings, for his discussions and ideas that could have been a threat to the established political situation on the ground. What did we get? We got nothing of the sort. He didn’t lead us to distant places to find secrets, he didn’t intrigue us with ideas of the traveler nor did he even begin to talk about why he was exiled. Like wtf.
Semi AutoHammer the story turned into a Disney movie if you ask me. It used to be dark, eerie and mysterious. Again, to appeal to the casual player who likes simple minded movies
They are kind of revealing WHY was he exiled through Comics right now, though (and don't you dare complain that you have to go off the game in order to get some lore: You had to do that with the Grimoire too in the first game. You didn't read any of the Book of Sorrow pages or any other type of Grimoire Card in the App? Welp, now you'll never know how the Hive became evil or who the hell is the Traveller or how Skolas broke free of his chains or lots of other things)
The only time that Guardians ever spoke was during Vanilla Destiny 1. Any time after that they were curiously silent and then they just said fuck it and gave all the exposition to Nolanbot. No rhyme or reason just suddenly no voice anymore. Still a thing that pisses me off to this day.
I just really pity destiny centered channels that are high in quality, like yours, this game(to me) is very disappointing and there’s no excuse for it being this way, just hope channels like these don’t crash and burn like......easynow
Oh my god, they need to fire the cringeworthy writer that put those dialogues, they are so bad, not even the “jokes”. You cannot duplicate what Cayde-6 is, and you cant abuse of it either.
Dylan Roiz Ikora asks for help in the second cinamatic and says: For now let’s keep this between us, i would hate to throw you off the wall. Ghost: That was a joke right? Ikora: That... was a joke. Like what, it’s clearly a funny line but there is no comedy in it. Also because Ikora is not really that kind of character. Also our ghost at the end, i get that he is confused and everything, but they really try hard to force some funny lines in there as well. Imo i found his voice not that good. The campaign was good and well explained but the fact our Guardian has nos emotions and no opinions about EVERYTHING that he is involved gets you out of the immersion.
They also need to not screw Cayde's character. He's gotten the claptrap treatment. In the first game he was funny but also serious. In D2 he won't shut up and makes shit jokes. Ghost though is even worse.
HD_Nova 7 It's made me not want to get the DLC even more. They should have made a lower power nightfall and prestige raid for players of the vanilla game.
Fenyr they locked everything else. They also did this because for the people who did buy it, they can play up to the new increased light level and with heroic vault there was no infusion or anything that’s why vault never got hit by this. You guys want old content to be worth going back and playing? Well side affect of it. Do i agree with them doing this? Not at all. What they should have done was make a new node for players without dlc like they did with triumph.
There will most likely be a second set of dlc like D1. If things don't change by the second DLC I would suggest not buying the second set of DLC and wait. No harm in waiting to see if it's actually worth buying
The ghost's voice is so annoying. They need to introduce a way to change our ghosts voice. I'm tired of hearing a bunch of cheesy one-liners every time I play a mission. Also the guardian is not the master chief. He can't be silent because he doesn't have a helmet on. When your guardian doesn't talk in the cut scenes it makes you feel really foolish and creates a lot of awkward moments.
id rather it be like Halo wars 2 Terminus firefight. being able to place down turrets and barricades to block enemy movement or to delay them. or rig booby traps like mines.
I actually liked the House of Wolves and Dark Below story missions a lot more. I thought the missions in Curse of Osiris were dull. The infinite forest is repetitive and really boring. There just wasn't a lot of substance in it. TBH I liked the strikes and story missions way better in the first game, there's just something missing in the sequel's.
I agree and I think its because these new story missions are more like action movies. The D1 missions felt more dark, eerie and mysterieus. Its like comparing the old star wars movies to the new trilogy
Niek vd Kam Great point, I completely agree. The Destiny 1's atmosphere was incredible. Bungie has always been good with atmosphere since Halo CE. Destiny 2 seems rushed or something. The atmospheric feeling is just not there for me and the missions seem rushed.
Honestly? Dark Below was really lame... and at the time people were bitching a ton how terrible it was... where have you been? House of Wolves was only impactfull bc Light Level addition and Trials... maybe even Prison of Elders, debatable... Better Missions in D1? Before Taken King?
Laxifax - Yes, exactly what I said. And The Taken King and Rise of Iron were miles better than the base game of Destiny 2. I never said the Dark Below was a good expansion, but I think its missions were better. I love how you're acting so offended lol
*The story was just 2 hours of running past all the enemies to get to the end so you can just finish it and start getting loot to increase your power level.. ✅😁*
Why not make the infinite forest a survival type activity! Clear a platform open a gate to a new area which gets harder and the more gates cleared the better the loot. That would be so much more fun! Also I had the exact same thoughts about the 'Bug in the system' it was an actual objective! P.S. great vid Datto!
... warframe has all of those.... tbh warframe is way better but i still like d2 cos some part of me still likes the destiny franchise, if only it wasnt made by activision...
Barely a handful of new gear. No end game changes. Putting heroic strikes with no reason to run them. Taking away Prestiege mode Leviathan for non dlc owners...fix the game Bungie. Fix the fucking game and stop giving us more with no reason to even want it
Pixxel Gaming like they can make sweeping changes in a couple of months. They need to get ideas, test it out, make sure it works and then finalise the update with microsoft and sony.
ZombieZlayer99 i mean with 3 years of development there shouldn't be sweeping changes. It should already be good with improvements to make it better. Not make it shit with improvements to make it good. There's gonna come a point where they can make all the changes they want. But if they take too long no one will even care enough to play. Played the dlc and finished everything I care to do. Now i gotta wait til reset to have some type of reason to play
Did you expect them to fix it in one DLC? Be a bit realistic bud, at least they are heading in the right direction with some of these changes. (Yes, I know the game has a lot wrong with it still)
I hear this time and time again. I played destiny 1 and pointed out all its flaws, and did i get the hate for criticizing it. I played destiny 2 after saying i would never touch it after destiny 1, but i wanted to see... and man did they drop the ball. Destiny 2 feels like a dlc. Not a $60 triple a game. Now if they would've made this a dlc for destiny 1 then i think i could get behind it. But as the game is now... it's overly disappointing
Dan Donlea I agree. The one thing I don’t understand is why don’t we have access to all the areas we had access to in D1? They’ve screwed this game up totally. They should be building on D1 not pissing us all off with this D2 shit show. The Osiris DLC is crap. They could have made an EPIC expansion out of it. Osiris is a character with so much story to be told. They just kinda gave us a few highlights and that was that.... I played the storyline part of the expansion and haven’t touched it since. Took me about 2 hours. Sadly disgusting.
That cut scene without having a guardian voice on it was so awkward. I'd usually think that it was ok for not having a guardian voice, but that was just weird. I'm also having a lot of fun with the fighting lions - i'm glad it's worth using now at least to have some fun with.
I'm a massive destiny fan and that's the problem I'm a destiny fan D2 is no where near destiny, the secrets the lore the content the grind secret endings feeling powerful it's all gone. I am sooooooooo glad I didn't fall for the dlcs, yeah yeah yeah I know it's beautiful and the story is easier to follow etc but for me that's no where near enough. I think a lot of people that came from d1 feel the same. I do really hope it will get better I would love to come back but not at the minute, thanks for content datto
There was no secret endings in D1 and I think D2 is copying D1 again ( Curse Of Osiris = The Dark Below ) and ( The Warmind = The House Of Wolves ) pretty much the same lack of content but there is the Taken king Expansion so that means something big is gonna happen later this year or next year a major expansion that might bring fans back I hope for the future.
I can't even be personally invested in a Guardian because the character customization tools suck. I just made two females and a exo because I can't make a human male look even remotely like me.
The whole 'Bungie is too cautious' thing is probably the most on point and fair criticism ever. I've been saying it since Destiny 1 and now it's just been doubled down. We need more butter on out Destiny bread. Add gear sets, more interesting gun perks, unique looking/feeling legendaries from specific content, maybe add perks to weapon mods, etc. @TaurusOxford I don't see why the hair and facial markings aren't just made into slots so they can bring more hairstyles and facial markings into the game (mostly through Eververse). It would definitely be a less sleazy way to promote the Eververse real money crap than taking sparrows and ships off of our loot tables, and we could still obtain them via bright dust, albeit more slowly than with actual cash.
Oh hell no - the last thing I would want to see is character customization options locked behind the fucking eververse. I should not have to pay real-world money or even fake money just so I can put a goatee on my character's face. Even mediocre character creators like in Fromsoft titles give you better customization - there's no excuse for Bungie to omit it other than pure laziness.
I agree we should have had it from the beginning. Unfortunately I think that's the only way we would ever see it though. The character customization in this franchise is awful and they clearly didn't care to update it for D2 so I doubt we'll see anything. But if we did it would definitely be Eververse.
0:45 - I rarely disagree with you Datto but let’s be honest - the writing was and is *objectively* terrible in destiny. And that’s coming from a day 1 destiny player.
100% agree, none of the dialogue from any of the characters in Destiny 2 has ever been any good. The characters are two dimensional, the jokes are not funny and nobody has anything poignant to say. I cringed the whole way through D2 story. Cannot believe a room full of people at Bungie let that Asher character ship as is, you'd have to speak English as a second language to miss writing that poor.
I agree accept for the house of wolves part. During house of wolves there was the most relevant content available to us. Crota, VoG and POE. Also house of wolves added trials which kept destiny alive on twitch. Let's also not forget rerolling weapons.
10/10 cured my destiny addiction. i hope datto does more varied content soon, his videos are too good to keep bottled up on one (quite frankly dying) subject but hell i'll keep up with the game any way just in case it gets better .
This is the first time I havent bought a destiny expansion at release and I have no regrets. I'll consider returning to the game months or years down the line depending on what changes they make but for now I'm going to play games that are actually enjoyable
Oh, I've gotten plenty of Exotics! I got the freebie one for beating the DLC campaign......then I got it again from the Cryptarch.....then I got a third one from Zavala.....then I got my sixth Coldheart.....then I got the Warlock version of the campaign-completion freebie twice back-to-back before even beating the DLC campaign on that character.....
In my opinion they missed a big chance with the infinite forest. Here's what they should have done: 1. Make paths in the infinite forest multiple choice e.g. splitting & winding paths. 2. Put different bosses at the end of each path, but make each boss encounter randomised for specific loot. 3. Create a new block of weapons that focus around each enemy race in the simulation e.g. Hive, Fallen, Cabal & Maybe Taken; put the 'forge' weapons inside the Vex simulation bosses & make each respective weapon affiliation match that of their race. 4. They could have also done the token system much much better in CoO e.g. have tokens drop from the randomly generated bosses up to a cap that scales with damage, but have the damage intervals be at 5-7 seconds every 30-40 seconds e.g. hunt the boss down throughout their own simulation & the simulation would start to tear & slowly reveal more of the past, present or future depending on the simulation. Overall the DLC is aight, it's nothing special; for 2-3 hours with maybe 16-18 hours light grinding (if you're slow & muck around) not worth $30 IMO.
Honestly can't believe you liked the boss fight. I thought it was the worst of all time. Kill some dregs and a captain, slam an orb. Rinse and repeat. The boss doesn't even injure you if I remember correctly. Oryx campaign fight was great.
imnotmexican1987 it's close but I'm surprised ditto liked it. Me and my friends were so disappointed. The look of the boss got me hyped as it but just no fighting it at all.
brig 7981 It does, just not directly via two debuffers, Unstable Simulation and Eye of Panoptes. While both don't kill you quickly, Panoptes does make attempts to kill you. Datto personally like the boss fight because Osiris (NPC) participates in the fight rather than just be you and the boss duke it out changing up the boss fight a bit, something that we can hope to see more in the future (and possibly in raids).
4:26 This. ❤️ I have been contemplating how nice of an addition a horde or defence game mode would be to at least try ever since I played Prison of Elders all the way back in House of Wolves. Everyone I've ever brought the idea up to though have said it just wouldn't work but I still think (and even Datto has thought now) that this would be a interesting addition. Please, I hope this becomes a reality. Of course there are other things needed in the game but ideas are ideas and I'm sure a lot of people have some sort of idea of what they want out of Destiny as a whole. Just my two sense. To whomever reads this, have a wonderful day and thank ya for the time. 🦊
This barely brought anything to the table, a weak Campaign which didn't even delve deep into the most interesting race and person in the game. 2 strikes which are missions in the campaign, that's lazy af. A raid that isn't out to judge, a public event that i sat around and see maybe every half hour if I am lucky. A disappointing Endless Forest. Mercury is ugly, yet in the 2-hour campaign, it showed the beauty and separated platforms of vex integration which would have been far cooler. Sadly this wasn't even worth 5 bucks, its a slap in the face to fans but all the Bungie dick riders will protect it. I am surprised Datto isn't still riding hard on the long D of Destiny.
It may have been a small expansion campaign wise but I had a blast playing it. No complaints here. The final boss fight was SO FUN too! I liked it more than Ghaul fight as well! I also enjoyed some of the fight mechanics during the campaign where you had to avoid the lasers. Loved the element they brought.
I'm not sure why people are surprised. Every other post on r/DTG was "This dlc was made before the game came out. Do not expect any huge sweeping changes to the endgame or any big QoL updates." Cut to a week later and people are rioting. The one thing that concerns me is how much cool stuff is in Eververse. It would have made the dlc so much better if all or most of that stuff was obtainable through the story/endgame activities. That i can agree with. Also that final boss fight could totally be a Court of Oryx style place! They should just open up a teleporter near spawn so people can go there and fight bosses! But im 100% with you on the Bug in the System adventure playspace. Going into the past was so fucking cool, and it was such a unique environment i wish they had donw something like a horde mode. If they don't i will be SO upset it was only used for one adventure and a story mission.
the word "I hope" and "if" are used far too much with Destiny 2.... Bungie just stop milking an old system and listen to us! We play your game daily! We want it to succeed! Stop shitting in your own shoe!
I'm actually really dissapointed that we can't explore the infinite forest, future, or past openly. I love the way past mercury looks, would've loved to explore every nook and cranny there openly :(
"The I want more side dishes" portion of the program was great haha. I do agree, new activities, like the awesome tower defense idea, sound amazing. As someone who doesn't have as much time to play (school), I'm just now going to jump back in this weekend since pretty much the first month of launch (plus a 2-4 weekend nights sprinkled here and there) and that keeps me satisfied and sheltered from feeling the slowdown of the end game to an extent.
After hearing about shadowkeep and the activision split, its hilarious to see the content put out before. It makes me feel better that this abomination was from activision and not bungie
The tower defense idea sounds amazing! Especially with 6 people, could be a blast. It could also be simple enough to have a queue instead of having to build a fireteam beforehand.
There's a lot of things D2 did, SO much better, it's pretty great. Despite, as you play more, and buy the DLC is gets duller and duller. Just mindless shooting with no substance
Personally after playing the campaign (spoilers after this sentence) I believe that they could have made an absolutely amazing raid using the Infinite Forest. Me and one of my friends came up with something that would be fun within a short time like 15 minutes. the idea we had was going off of the idea of the Garden World Strike and the idea that the Vex Simulate the future, such as they start stimulating ways to bring back Atheon so that he can retake the time Stream and stop you from destroying Panoptes. The first encounter would be a “boss” where you fight the Incomplete version of Atheon, the goal is to take control of this Atheon and go into the time stream and go to the moment when the Vex started the creation of Dedron the mind that helped creat Panoptes, after fighting Dedron you would come to the “hoard” encounter (that raids version of the Baths/Totems/Bridge/Aksis phase) so that you could retake the time Stream that the Vex reclaimed while you fought Dedron and the go to the final boss which was with an incomplete but bigger and better version of Panoptes. (4 encounters isn’t really much so some filler encounters in between)
I think the one thing really keeping me from being super disappointed with this dlc is that video that mtashed made maybe 2 weeks ago. He said that CoO was planned and essentially executed right along side d2 release, meaning bungie had yet to receive all the ( completely warranted) criticism. I wish we saw change faster in this franchise but im still hopeful for dlc2. In terms of the video, I COMPLETELY agree with the heroic adventures. With a little polish, each one of them could have been a multiplayer activity with a fair amount of replay value. Nice work as always, Datto.
Exactly and they did put some stuff in to start fixing the end game. There's more coming next week to help the game as well. I think people just need to realize this game isn't one you sit on every day for hours and hours.
I really like a concept you’ve mentioned in a previous video where you explained how cool it was if destiny 2’s campaign didn’t finish right away in the however many missions we got. How it would’ve super awesome if the first year of destiny 2 we could’ve been spend time fighting/finding against ghauls subordinates/generals where it would lead to new planets/raids until the point where we actually pinned down ghaul and faced him in his own raid, thus explaining leviathan raid lairs. For example ponotpes, or however you spell it, could’ve been one of ghauls generals figuring out how to get light from the traveler and we had to stop him. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m with you in the sense that I wish they would flesh their content out more instead of finishing it in 6 missions and then we are finished with that arc.
I liked that adventure with the hive simply because they finally brought back the hive ships, and I've always found those ships to be the most interestingly designed of the enemy drop ships/deployment methods.
My biggest beef is that the power level at the start is 200 or 220 (I forget which). Not sure if the DLCs from D1 were that low relative to where players were when the DLC was released, but I seem to recall that it was higher. Since many of us have played the raid multiple times in D2 at 300 or 305, kicking the power level back into the 200s for the story missions make it an "entertainment" mission rather than anything like a challenge. Datto, do you have any thoughts (or recollections) of the D1 expansions' relative light levels to players typical levels at the time they came out? Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on that. I enjoyed CoO - it's gorgeous to look at. I would really like to see the Infinite Forest act as a destination as well. There's great potential there, but right now, it does feel like a tech demo more than anything - totally agreed.
Omar Ortega Bungie can never please everyone, they change this others cry they change that the ones who cried about the other will be pissed. why cant we all just be happy.
viperdemonz jenkins Dude stop living in a frickin fairytale. We need new stuff and more content. Bungie should know that destiny 2 players have no lives so should try to please them. This game has a 10- year plan. Do you see yourself playing a destiny 3 or 4 with the same bullshit. Would you eat out a plate that still has the same stains on it from the night before. The answer is no. No
Destiny 1 started out bad then years later 2 DLCs and 2 Major expansions brought the game back to life, and now we have Destiny 2 that's just got 2 DLC's at the moment. People complained about the dark below DLC for D1 not having alot of content same as Curse of osiris then after DLC 1 we got House of Wolves same old things as the previous DLC but this time fans were given hope that something big is gonna happen in the future eg. Taken king similar to The Warmind DLC yes it's the same of shit as before but bungie has released a content chart for the whole year so fan's are getting a bit of hope. Pretty much D2 is copying D1 by comparison in the year's so next there will be a major expansion that will bring fans back to the game same a Taken king expansion.
As someone who has a strong partnership with Bungie, Datto deserves serious kudos for being able to criticize the expansion without absolutely dumping on it. This video tells people what they need to know without putting that partnership at risk (hopefully) and I respect that. Got to protect your livelihood, making his honesty even more respectable.
This expansion will continue to push people away from this totally dead franchise. People can’t deny that Bungie killed Halo, but it took 7-8 years to do so. They killed Destiny within 2 years with the release of “Rise of Reskin” D2 brought no sort of mystery, excitement, or investment. How do you expect people to want to play your game if you don’t even add one new encounter, one new enemy type. Every Halo release 1-3 brought some new cool mechanics, enemies and innovation.
Rise Of Iron was a great DLC and Destiny ain't dead because bungie has released a roadmap of changes to come to the future and some ex Destiny fans got to see it and they were happy when they were leaving bungie studios about the future of D2 so I have hope. Oh forgot SIVA was completely new to D1 and they were new enemies because there much stronger and they had these red spore things that damage you The Wrath Of The Machine raid was sick.
Sooo my 2 cent in the whole dlc thing: im split if i really want to buy this dlc i LOVED destiny 1 and the dlc but d2 was soooo disappointing and even tho i dont agree in all that hate that d2 gets many are right with the whole "fix your game first than ask for more of our money"
hey Steve wait another 2 or so weeks and see what the feedback is like then... the base game had great reviews off the bat but went downhill quickly... with more patches this could be good
Fearnyrunt9 I never agreed with those reviews at all. It even seems like bungie is ever so slowly implementing features they left behind in Destiny 1 to 'improve' the game. How bad can it be if they fall back on the succesfull elements of D1 to make D2 bearable, while those elements should have been the backbone in the first place to expand to a greater game
hey Steve I have the answer for you: Forget about destiny 2 it sucks now and it will suck in the future unless they learn that people won't pay for garbage dlcs. Use your money for a good game like monster hunter world.
hey Steve Don't get the game right now bro,it's boring as heck.Listen to the comment above me and get Monster Hunter World,if you like that kind of game
Well, I am waiting for Taken king like expansion or longer. The same bullshit as before but without Bungie and Activision shake-up excuse. Why is Destiny 2 in nearly the same state as Destiny? Why have there been so many regressions for so little advancement? I would've accepted Destiny 2 and even bought it at release had they just shown enough to truly be a sequel. Really not asking too much considering all they had to do was copy paste Year 3 Destiny into Destiny 2. Why is it that after 3 years of using Destiny 1 as a massive beta of sorts is the sequel on the same level as Destiny year 1? What happened? Did Bungie and all of its team have a loss of communication or something? Was there another shakeup of sorts but quieter? It just feels like Destiny 2 isn't really a game for anybody. Casuals could get into the game but drop out either when they're not interested anymore or when they turn into a hardcore player only to find out they're pretty much done. Hardcore players have no reason to stay in the game once they really get to the endgame. PvE and PvP just don't have enough right now to justify spending tons of hours into. Coming back down to Earth, it appears to be better to wait for the Taken King like expansion or when all of the big patches have been put through to really get into the game.
We don't want to forget about the Mastercraft weapons, Gunsmith mod changes, Xur engrams and new stock changes coming on next reset (the 12th.) This could potentially add more to the current endgame.
The prestige thing is absolute BS. I paid my money for that raid, and by the next dlc I probably won’t even be able to play it at all. I’m honestly really disappointed in Bungie right now.
I agree. I got exactly what I thought I would get. That is not a complaint. Love your thought about the Horde mode, that is how I felt about the infinity forest in general such a waste of a perfectly good piece of tech. There should be more too it, its like a goldmine of possible lore and gameplay expansions. The old Mercury perfectly shows up how good this could be.
The final boss fight ACTUALLY felt like a boss fight. You have to complete an objective and not just all shoot I also think Bungie missed a huge fight opportunity with locking the Infinite Forest outside of adventures, because I think they should’ve made the past, present and future a space you can go to whenever, give them special public events and give you rewards like normal Mercury rewards and some gear. I’d like to see this in the future *no pun intended* like in the next DLC if they do something like this again
They should turn the infinite forest into an archon's forge kind of thing... earn different levels of 'cores' or 'data chips' or something that drop from random enemies, when put into a switch it opens a gate in the forest which leads to a fight with any race and any kind of boss (instead of just fallen or vex). Then make the rewards worth while so like cosmetics or specific ornaments, the ornaments are a step in the right direction
The thing that stood out for me was that the boss wasn't just a larger version of a normal enemy
JPOG7 TV it was an actual new enemy, I’m impressed Bungie
JPOG7 TV one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. Was way more fun
A hydra who lifts
As someone who doesn't play destiny this sounds like a really really low bar😅
New for the game yes but it's a rip off from the emoji movie.
Guardians don’t have good history with Tower Defense....
Joshua Sausage 😂
Oh snap
That's f'in evil
A year later and I’m still chuckling at that comment 😂
After all this time, this comment is still good!
$20 saved, thanks for the honest review.
Did you buy it tho?
He said $20 dollars saved. What do you think?
Going into shadow keep a year and a half later I’m so thankful that Bungie listened to player feedback. The game has developed so much since, with gambit random rolls and raids and pinnacle weapons. It’s hard to believe it’s the same game, but I’m glad that I stuck through all the turmoil and have been along for the ride to watch d2 become the incredible game we all knew it could be.
@@ADUSN Mediocre? That’s being generous,ShadowKeep is shit and by far the worst expansion lol.
As someone who stopped playing Destiny 2 a month ago because of sheer boredom. This tells me all I need to know... Continue to not play.
I see we're in a similar boat. What a sad world we live in where Vanilla Destiny 1 kept me more engaged than D2 has. Bungie literally rebooted the series and learned NOTHING from 3 years of D1 development.
Same. I wish I could sale my digital copy
You are wiser than I was.
Destiny 2 in a nutshell

Guardians need to talk
Alex Germane didnt they talk before or am i high , i just remembering going to the reef cutscene with the queen
I'm Casper yes in vanilla D1
The only time that Guardians ever spoke was during Vanilla Destiny 1.
Any time after that they were curiously silent and then they just said fuck it and gave all the exposition to Nolanbot.
No rhyme or reason just suddenly no voice anymore. Still a thing that pisses me off to this day.
Altoryu same
Yes! Even the characters in Guildwars 1 talked, how hard can it be to add a few voice lines for the couple of cutscenes?
It's crazy looking back on this era of destiny and comparing it to where we are now
i also like coming back to these early d2 vids just to compare...and honestly, this straight up looks like d1 in comparison lmfao. absolutely wild.

I just really pity destiny centered channels that are high in quality, like yours, this game(to me) is very disappointing and there’s no excuse for it being this way, just hope channels like these don’t crash and burn like......easynow
Tike Dang, R.I.P easynow

Tike Hopefully Datto diversifies his channel because Destiny is a slow sinking ship.He does a good job for the garbage he is working with.

SirCreepsAlott actually he deleted his channel completely
Oh my god, they need to fire the cringeworthy writer that put those dialogues, they are so bad, not even the “jokes”. You cannot duplicate what Cayde-6 is, and you cant abuse of it either.
Lumpy Gash I haven’t play the dlc yet but can you give a example of one
Donut Merchant well they shut cayde up you happy?
I can’t believe they locked content you already paid for if you don’t have the DLC
HD_Nova 7 why they did the same thing in destiny 1 lol. Are you really surprised?
Kaleb Stohr they didn’t lock hard mode VoG when the dark below came out.
HD_Nova 7 It's made me not want to get the DLC even more. They should have made a lower power nightfall and prestige raid for players of the vanilla game.
Enclave Trooper were you not around in destiny 1? Serious question not being a jerk. Because they legit did the same thing the past 3 years.
Datto predicted the menagerie 1 year before it came out
i regret buying the expansion pass
Woodge same
Woodge same it makes me feel like I need to play even though it is boring as fuck
There will most likely be a second set of dlc like D1. If things don't change by the second DLC I would suggest not buying the second set of DLC and wait. No harm in waiting to see if it's actually worth buying
I regret Destiny 2 and I didn’t even buy it lol
Woodge good you learned
THANK YOU. THE GUARDIAN NEEDS TO SPEAK. I’m tired of having the ghost speak all the time.
"Spoilers for the story". There was a story?
Yea, your simple mind can’t seem to keep up with it.

That bug in the system adventure should be like frontier defense from titanfall 2
Colin Kerns The moment when Osiris showed us Mercury pre vex it totally reminded when of the beginning of Titanfall 2's campaign
I'd play it. Would be really fun.
id rather it be like Halo wars 2 Terminus firefight. being able to place down turrets and barricades to block enemy movement or to delay them. or rig booby traps like mines.
Colin Kerns We already have a grenade launcher that shoots Ticks, so why not go further?
I actually liked the House of Wolves and Dark Below story missions a lot more. I thought the missions in Curse of Osiris were dull. The infinite forest is repetitive and really boring. There just wasn't a lot of substance in it. TBH I liked the strikes and story missions way better in the first game, there's just something missing in the sequel's.
RowlWool me too!!!
I agree and I think its because these new story missions are more like action movies. The D1 missions felt more dark, eerie and mysterieus. Its like comparing the old star wars movies to the new trilogy
Niek vd Kam
Great point, I completely agree.

(Yes, I know the game has a lot wrong with it still)
Parker Savage well if they couldn't fix it the game and make a decent game in 2 years what makes you think they can do it in 5 months?
Pixxel Gaming *cough* cod had more years and more dlc but still continued to make shit games up to IW *cough*
Boring... completely boring. As a huge Destiny fan it's heartbreaking.
xReviveMeFoolx feel the same way you do. I rebooted D1 after I finished this and I just felt at home again
Nick Rowe I haven’t gone back to D1 yet although I’ve been thinking about it.
Nick Rowe Me too
Dan Donlea I agree.
I preordered w the season pass and don't even want to bother w this DLC. Truly disappointed.

That cut scene without having a guardian voice on it was so awkward. I'd usually think that it was ok for not having a guardian voice, but that was just weird. I'm also having a lot of fun with the fighting lions - i'm glad it's worth using now at least to have some fun with.
Can someone explain me what the “curse” of Osiris actually is?
jp 1377 that's actually a good question lol I have no clue myself
Its the raid lair, story missions, heroic strikes, and mercury plus the new weapons
More items being locked behind paywalls, thats the reason why Osiris doesnt want to stay at the Tower

2:24 hit the nail on the head for me. I kept finding myself wanting MORE from my guardian. He’s a fucking badass, why not own it?
I can't even be personally invested in a Guardian because the character customization tools suck. I just made two females and a exo because I can't make a human male look even remotely like me.
Because Bungie doesn't want to puth words "in our mouths" (Despite our Ghost and being forced to be mute is already doing so, basically).
The Fantastic Spastic hahaha 👌
I don’t think it really matters that you’re a day one destiny player.

Finally. After six years, my opinion has arrived.
“Gimme a couple weeks to get all of the exotics.”
That should tell you everything you need to know about sustainable game play.
That cheeky kill at the end tho
This is the first time I havent bought a destiny expansion at release and I have no regrets. I'll consider returning to the game months or years down the line depending on what changes they make but for now I'm going to play games that are actually enjoyable
I played 6 hours and haven't got a single exotic.
I'm ok with it.
I agree better than doing Heroic PE to get every exotic in an hour tbh
Except for the 2 they hand to you though right?
Oh, I've gotten plenty of Exotics! I got the freebie one for beating the DLC campaign......then I got it again from the Cryptarch.....then I got a third one from Zavala.....then I got my sixth Coldheart.....then I got the Warlock version of the campaign-completion freebie twice back-to-back before even beating the DLC campaign on that character.....
6 hours is nothing. Really one of the only good thing you can say about the game now is that it doesnt just hand you all exotics you don't have.
Except for Xur giving you one your guaranteed to not have.
In my opinion they missed a big chance with the infinite forest.
Here's what they should have done:
The Taken king Raid was great and I'm a person that likes every D1 raid.
4:26 This. ❤️
I have been contemplating how nice of an addition a horde or defence game mode would be to at least try ever since I played Prison of Elders all the way back in House of Wolves.
Its 3 hours, please don't call it an expansion.
Top Lane Hentai Bonus Mission.
That's more accurate.
You cannot do everything this DLC has to offer in 3 hours.
+Breshi you're right, maybe a solid hour and a half
Why though? It expands on existing content. It's an expansion.
It's not even trash, because in order for it to be trash, it would have to be something. This DLC is literally nothing lol.
I'm not sure why people are surprised. Every other post on r/DTG was "This dlc was made before the game came out. Do not expect any huge sweeping changes to the endgame or any big QoL updates."
Cut to a week later and people are rioting.

I love going back and watching MrFruut and your videos, gives good insight on current and future changes.
datto's voice and just him talking about destiny really makes destiny sound a little less terrible...
Destiny 2 is weak and disapointing
Novarixz Lmao, gotteem

Not anymore
(4 encounters isn’t really much so some filler encounters in between)
we need another datto does dinner after all those food metaphors at 11:10
They said raid would come one week later. That was the reason for the change of the reset time. So they could be in the studio when this stuff happen
Grilled chicken is bland as hell. Give me crispy chicken please.
Trav further proving his point lmao
Seeing how mercury looked before the vex made me want that to be a free roam area with random events and what not. So much potential
$20 bucks??? Jesus Christ they are getting away with highway robbery
Hawk Stirke that is standard price for almost every DLC
+kancer1693 Ayyyyy someone who missed the point entirely
kancer1693 no it isn't? And the couple games that do don't release the dlc 3 months (less than 2 on pc) after launch.
Travis Jarvis i meant for destiny games. Almost all their dlcs, exvept for rise of iron was 19.99
+kancer1693 still missing the point, everyone else take notes please so you don't make the same mistake he is making.
Cogent thoughts, Datto, as per usual. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these release periods. :)
It's the story that I find most disappointing. Don't know what the writers were doing.
Exactly and they did put some stuff in to start fixing the end game. There's more coming next week to help the game as well. I think people just need to realize this game isn't one you sit on every day for hours and hours.
Alex Wade the fact that they were already making a dlc just shows their greed they honestly could've given this to us for free
Wheres the B I S C U I T?
Wheres the B B Q S A U C E?
I liked that adventure with the hive simply because they finally brought back the hive ships, and I've always found those ships to be the most interestingly designed of the enemy drop ships/deployment methods.
Give Datto his FUCKING BBQ SAUCE
Caleb Freed THE LAMB SAUCE
The new strikes are just missions from the story missions. Extremely lazy and bullshit
God i love how well put together your content always is.
Destiny 2 garbage never going to buy another Destiny game again
Omar Ortega Bungie can never please everyone, they change this others cry they change that the ones who cried about the other will be pissed. why cant we all just be happy.
viperdemonz jenkins Dude stop living in a frickin fairytale. We need new stuff and more content. Bungie should know that destiny 2 players have no lives so should try to please them. This game has a 10- year plan. Do you see yourself playing a destiny 3 or 4 with the same bullshit. Would you eat out a plate that still has the same stains on it from the night before. The answer is no. No
Omar Ortega I think you for sure will buy destiny 3
honestly the game doesn't necessarily need more "content". The current amount is fine as it is.
We just need more of a reason to do this content
This expansion was like 2022 year seasonal content. We've come along way baby.
Datto can you create an updated review on how this expansion content feels in 2024?
This content doesn't exist anymore in 2024
Are you a robot?
It ain’t ded now lol
Onslaught prediction ACCURATE
I’m just fucking tired of reskins.
Wavey Games so basically 95% of destiny 2
You continue to articulate my thoughts better than I do. ; )
Keep giving the feedback, Bungie has to be hearing you.

Here's another video talking about the dlc
hey Steve I have the answer for you: Forget about destiny 2 it sucks now and it will suck in the future unless they learn that people won't pay for garbage dlcs. Use your money for a good game like monster hunter world.
hey Steve Don't get the game right now bro,it's boring as heck.Listen to the comment above me and get Monster Hunter World,if you like that kind of game
Yes, the Tower/Horde idea is brilliant! I was feeling the same way. It also took me a few minutes to actually realize that I had to defend.
That ending hahaha
I remember hearing (or reading) somewhere that the Raid Lair is coming out next week. Similar to how Leviathan came out a week after D2 launched.
*laughs in season of opulence*
Taken King,..
Still the pinnacle of DESTINY's lifecycle. : )
Panaptes should of been a raid boss -_-
The final boss fight ACTUALLY felt like a boss fight. You have to complete an objective and not just all shoot
I also think Bungie missed a huge fight opportunity with locking the Infinite Forest outside of adventures, because I think they should’ve made the past, present and future a space you can go to whenever, give them special public events and give you rewards like normal Mercury rewards and some gear. I’d like to see this in the future *no pun intended* like in the next DLC if they do something like this again
Destiny 2. Assassin's Greed.
They ain't getting much money so there is no greed
They should turn the infinite forest into an archon's forge kind of thing... earn different levels of 'cores' or 'data chips' or something that drop from random enemies, when put into a switch it opens a gate in the forest which leads to a fight with any race and any kind of boss (instead of just fallen or vex). Then make the rewards worth while so like cosmetics or specific ornaments, the ornaments are a step in the right direction
