Catalina Flying Boat - lyric video

Here's a song with a story - multiple stories, in fact. On the surface, we have a nice kids song telling the story of people who live simply and peacefully on a beautiful island which is regularly visited by the somewhat anthropomorphized "Catalina Flying Boat," a seaplane that brings needed supplies to augment the abundance already produced by the island. In that sense, the song is about sharing, being appreciative, and living in harmony. With just a gentle touch of "cargo cult" influence.
On another level, the song is about whoever or whatever brings joy and fulfillment into our lives. Be it a cargo plane, a deity, or a very special person. For me personally, this was my wife Kathy, who I recently lost after 48 years together. As a little girl, her father playfully called her "Catalina Flying Boat," which is the genesis of this celebratory song.
