    Thanks for your helpful video. Im located downunder in Australia, I bought my 1993 GMC Vandura conversion van from my friends Jon and Mandy down at Escondido. I then toured the west coast for a month then later shipped the van home. Its my favourite vehicle and now its losing water from the top of its radiator core. Thanks to you I have an idea what to expect, my problem will be trying to source the correct radiator. I suppose I'll dive right into the job and see what will work. Best wishes- Rob Melbourne Australia.

    Funny, I was just watching your brake video again and before all of my parts get in I developed a radiator issue in my '95 G20. Oil cooler inside the radiator ruptured and is mixing oil & coolant in the radiator. Picked up a new water pump and thermostat and a new radiator and hoses are coming in the morning with new oil cooler hoses but I am flushing the system first to get it clean.
    The fan shroud part was funny. My shroud was in two pieces, broken just to the right of the filler. Now I know why, someone did that to get it out 😂.I was able to twist mine and squeeze it out from the left side by force. I had a '94 G20 10 years ago. I miss that van but I did not miss that damn AC line over the shroud. My '89 G20 was so much better. The compressor is on the passenger side with no AC line in the way. Made engine work a breeze. I have no idea why they moved the AC compressor over to the driver side on these vans in the 90's . Such a PITA.

      Yea that AC line is a real eye sore for sure! Glad the video helped to give some insight at the least. 👍

      Thank you very much for the support! It has not been easy and does require a bit more patience than I’d like to admit, but reading comments like these and others are definitely a motivating factor for me to keep providing help or at the very least entertainment. 🙏

      Where did you end up getting a piece of glass for the passenger window

    • @jamesshute9426

      I have owned a 1974 that I bought brand new a 1989 I had for a few years till I got hit on the freeway by a big truck and currently in 1990 that I have had for the last 10 years.The last two were van conversions. I went to pick apart and removed all of the windows on a van conversion driver side and passenger side three windows , when I seen yours broken the first thing I thought of was the ones I have up in my attic I was surprised they replaced it with plexiglass why did they not use glass

      Luckily, I found the front passenger window at a small local window replacement shop. It was the last one the guy had tucked away in some corner abandoned. It was the only shop that had it actually. For the rear, we were out of luck, no one had one in stock. No luck with jys either. It was definitely a little shocking to discover how hard it is to get my hands on replacement windows for these things nowadays.

    I had a 84 g20 with the 5.0. What a pain to change the radiator. Only to have to change the heater core later.What a nightmare that one was. Great tip man.

    Great Video, My 82 G20 I was happy to get rid of the fan shroud . I believe Chevy built the G20 so only they could work on them back in the day. The 305 you can hardly even touch any of the spark plugs , Heat shields and all the pollution stuff everywhere . I am going to try to raise the body with floor jacks to get enough room for the Arms and Hands. I have heard of people doing it , First time for everything. Thanks for the Video.

    Great video Sir. I really appreciate it. I was very curious about the metal lines on the driver side? Are they also transmission lines?

    • @losmerosvera
      @losmerosvera  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Attached to the radiator? Yes.

    I fully admit that its only 28 bucks to replace. But i wanted to very respectfully ask if we really do need the fan shroud? I appreciate your time and like your videos Sir. Have a good day

      Although it more than likely wouldn’t be catastrophic not to have it, the shroud is there to direct the air to where it most needs it. It’s more for cooling efficiency. Plus, it protects things from falling unto the fan. If it isn’t a deal breaker for you and have access to it, I would just slap it on for good measure personally. Hope that answers your question! 👍

    The extra fitting near the radiator fill was for heater return hose.

    I just pushed down on one side and pulled up on the other, took some time but it popped out clean, no cuts necessary. Now to get it back in, still intact 😅

    It doesn’t have a Radiator drain plug?

      Yes, bottom passenger side corner usually.

  • @fatty157
    @fatty157 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you run into any issues with the passenger side transmission lines fitting back into the radiator? Mines giving me hell

    • @losmerosvera
      @losmerosvera  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Besides maybe being in a tight space, you shouldn’t be struggling too much.
      It could be either:
      -threads on the lines are gunked up.
      -the threads for the lines on the radiator are a different size (wrong radiator)
      Check to see if the threads on the lines are gunked up, not allowing it to thread on properly. Cleaning them with a metal brush and maybe some wd-40 should take care of that.
