    Ive had my own Karen moment. I was working guard duty at a bank during the The start of the pandemic The bank was only allowing contactless deposits i was in charge of keep the drive thru from getting flooded. There was two lines I told one of the customers to move to the next linex if she wanted to get through her transaction faster she said no and there was a woman in the back who wanted to get through her transfer So I told her to move to the next lane. Here comes this Karen who I offered to go to the next lane for a faster transaction complaining that the woman Cut in front of her She blew her top Lucky for me I kept my cool but the customers behind her and in front of her defended me They defend me so hard that she got out of line and left the bank in defeat.

    I work at a grocery store and when we catch people stealing we can't lock the doors on them just because it could be dangerous for us as we don't know if that person has a knife or something. Our cameras record it and the police come and get the picture and view the video. There is sometimes a big chance that person stole from other nearby stores too.
    We had a customer start harassing one of our regulars who had a service dog. They were saying it wasn't a service dog following her around yelling. Even telling this person I will be watching for you outside. The customer with the service dog was a vet and suffered from ptsd. The customer who was yelling was kicked out and trespassed from our store. From what I seen trained service dogs never leave their owners side to the point where the owner might sit the dog down so they can bag their groceries and the dog scoots to the owner side after a bit.

    That last one got me laughing. Dogs dominance mount other dogs. This can lead to dog fights if there are a few alphas there. Now if he let his dog actually mate with another person's dog he could be liable for damages if it gets pregnant. I have only seen this as a threat once.
    I was at the dog park with my two dogs when a guy showed up with a large doberman, a good 100lbs, in size that I knew was going to be trouble from the start because it wasn't fixed. It immediately started trying to mate with any dog it could. This wasn't just dominance behavior mounting as he was seeking out females and their owners were having to chase the doberman off as its owner wasn't doing anything but laughing.
    Eventually the doberman worked its way around to the area where my dogs had been watching this go on. A central area most people stood and chatted while their dogs played. People had moved back as they knew what was coming. He targeted my female right off the bat. He moved behind her and jumped on her to mount her. That was the last dog he mounted that day. Both my Great Danes, Tyrus (m165lb) and Tresor (f160lbs) the one he mounted, lit into that dog and taught it some manners in less than 10 seconds. That dog took off for the far end of the dog park with its owner running after it. Once he corralled it he quickly left the park. My dogs didn't injure it but certainly put it in its place.
    My female Dane already had a reputation at the park for being a bit of a referee and breaking up dog fights when they broke out. She would simply throw herself in the middle of the fight, barking like crazy, and all the dogs in the fight would scatter like Godzilla just showed up. Then she would walk back to me all smug. It was pretty funny.

    firstly whether it's a public street or not, here in America in a lot of places the area directly in front of your house is still considered your private property. also people cannot park in front blocking your driveway. depending on where you live if you ask someone to stop parking/blocking your driveway and they continue....you could most likely without consulting the other party have their car towed.

    Note that in the US, there is no officially recognized licensing for service dogs. There are companies that certify, but none of them are official. It's illegal most places for a business to even ask for proof. Also non-service dogs are allowed in if the business doesn't mind anyway and is perfectly legal as long as they're not in a food prep area or something.
    So basically everything she said was nonsense.

      The problem is for the last 5 or 6 years or so, a lot of people have purchased service dog/animal vests online so they can bring their non-service animals shopping. Prior to that you'd see maybe one service animal or two a year, now every time you go to the store you see at least one. These animals are mostly not trained and will sometimes become aggressive with people and real service dogs (who by the way are trained not to react so they will just sit there and get killed by the other dog if nobody intervenes), and in other cases they will defecate on the floor or put their mouths and paws on food items like produce while their owner ignores it. Many places will allow this because they're afraid of getting in trouble for saying something. In addition, only horses and dogs can be service animals that are protected by these laws. Emotional support animals do not qualify. I've seen people bring dozens of different species including birds in places where food is served or sold. There are clear cases where an animal is not a service animal and poses a safety or sanitary issue and places feel helpless to do anything while people just walk by unbelieving what they're seeing. We need better legislation that protects service animals but deters the surge in people abusing the law and endangering real service animals.

      The woman is clearly overreacting but I get the frustration of people taking advantage of the service dog, therapy dog & blind dog services. But alas, it's not this Karen's duty to police service dogs. lol Report it to the manager if you feel it's a fake service dog & let them handle it.

      While businesses are not legally allowed to ask for proof of the animal being a service animal, or what disability the individual has, they ARE allowed to ask if the animal is required due to a disability, and what service it has been trained to preform. Also, If he identified it as an Emotional Support Animal, then that isn't considered a service animal, and is NOT protected by the ADA and can absolutely denied entrance. The whole thing is tricky as heck.

    A service dog and a companion dog are two different things. Service dogs are trained to perform a function and by law are allowed any where. A companion dog is NOT trained and is NOT allowed any where a dog is not allowed. You see these animals causing dangerous situations because they aren't trained to behave (especially on airplanes). There is a difference.

    Service dogs don’t bark unless they’re alerting. They also don’t go around sniffing everything. They guy’s dog seemed to be fake and it sounds like the lady that was upset has an actual medical condition and a legitimate service dog that was barked at which is also a big no no. It’s so common for real service dogs and random people to be bitten by fake service animals. It should not be tolerated. In this case I think the lady may have been in the right since the dog was obviously not trained and that puts others at risk and it causes people to be skeptical of real service animals. Had the dog been behaving then there would have been no reason to question legitimacy.

    The non-service animal I can understand. If a service animal is in the same store as an untrained animal often that untrained animal will distract the service animal from what they're supposed to be doing. That's an area where the general public needs better education. It could be life-threatening depending on what the service animal is for. There are more proper ways to get them to take their untrained animal back home though.

    • @Captainpigraven
      @Captainpigraven 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. But it’s also not illegal for non-service animals to be allowed in to a business. A surprising amount of businesses around the country are actually pet friendly. It’s up to the owner of a building or place of business whether they allow animals in the store. I think the only exception to this is a place where food is being made and/or served. I admit it’s a bummer if a non-service animal disrupts a service animal in a store. But if the store in question is animal friendly, there isn’t much the owner of a service animal can do in that situation. Having said that, as the former owner of a non-service dog I would often take into animal-friendly stores with me, if I noticed a service animal we’d immediately go to another area of the store or even outside if the store was tiny. Not because I was required, but out of respect since I was the one who didn’t rely on my animal to achieve my goal of shopping.

    • @ClaireRader
      @ClaireRader 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Captainpigraven I can't really tell what store this is. I just kind of assumed that since someone is saying something to the pet owner it's probably not a place that pets are allowed to be. My husband worked in management for a company that has signs posted welcoming service animals but not pets. He regularly had to educate people on why their pet wasn't allowed. He was nice about it though. Especially since a lot of times those pets do provide support that a service animal would provide. In any case they really should have left the proper authority to handle the situation. People aren't very likely to learn from someone who's being hostile towards them.

But if it just a apartment complex. Then heck no. They don't need to know.
    The lady in the gas station looks to be on drugs..
    The service dog thing I out of hand here in America. I deal with it on a daily basis. Per the ADA or American disability Act you can only ask the customer 2 questions about the dog. Is it for a disability and what is it trained to do for you. You don't have to show ID or it doesn't need a vest or you don't have to say what your disability is. The person questioning him is probably right. It happens all the time, but as long as the person tells you as a business owner, not other customers what it's trained to do it's allowed. Also comfort dogs are not recognized by the ADA. Or if the dog pees or poops or is out of control it's has to leave. If the business allows it. Then the other customers have no right to question the person.

      If the road is a public road, it follows the same rules all public roads do and you’re permitted to park on the street unless the town or city has deemed otherwise, provided you still follow the appropriate rules for public street parking. If it’s a privately owned piece of land, such as in gated communities, parking on the street can be illegal. Alternatively, certain public streets don’t allow public parking, as deemed by the town or city (often for safety or other particular reasons). Most neighborhood developments, even in suburban areas, allow for public parking. But it’s not always as common to see because you’re right, many such areas have homes with driveways and a garage.

    I'd like to mention. I worked in a hospital as an RN. We routinely had "fire drills". We followed the hospital protocol each time with the automatic doors closing, cleared the hallways of computers and equipment and such and closed the patient doors. We cleared the hallways to make sure fire response had clear access to fight fires. We shut doors to contain potential fire. However, we were NOT allowed to use ANY of the fire Extinguishers which were mounted on the hallway walls. That's RIGHT. We were not not allowed to use any of the many available mounted fire extinguishers in the hallways without pre-authorization and certification until the fire department arrived. Seriously! We routinely handled life threatening medical emergencies and we were college educated, degree holding, certified and licensed to take care of patients with life threatening conditions. We routinely responded to Code Blue situations and management thought we were too stupid and incompetent to use a fire extinguisher. I'm not joking. How hard is it to pull a freaking pin, aim and pull the trigger on a fire extinguisher?

    • @NarwahlGaming

      If some bicarb dust got in to the vents or gears the insurance company won't repair or replace if a doctor or nurse was the one who pulled the pin.
      If a fire department comes in and doused everything it makes it easier for the bean counters upstairs to make a claim.

    The term “karen” comes from AAVE (african american vernacular english). In the black community we associate names with certain personalities we think the name sounds like when we hear their name. So for us, the name “karen” sounds like a middle aged, privileged white woman that always wants the manager for everything. Most slang and terms used these days come from AAVE. And “karen” comes from AAVE.
    Like the phrase “bye Felicia” comes from the iconic line in the movie named “friday”, of which we call a hood classic. The characters craig and smokey always told this one female character named felicia to go away by saying, “bye Felicia” everytime she came around them. They did this because everytime she came around she would always ask for something to be done or to borrow something. So everytime she came around both craig and smokey would say, “bye felicia” everytime she popped up randomly. Most black people in the black community in america know this, but most of people that aren’t black never knew this or still doesn’t know this or where the phrase came from.

    Yep, why does she care? Thing is, there are rules on service dogs. Nowadays, a doctor will give anyone a prescription for a companion animal. Also, you can buy a certificate online. But, service dogs are a very defined thing, and while it's working it it should be wearing what is required. Now, they've moved the definition to "companion animals" no one wants to sit on a plane with a chicken (which has been banned) and people are misusing it. Still, I mean it's not worth that argument. Go your own way for crying out loud.
