I see where you are coming from but that type of thinking has a very simplistic view of what creativity is.

If you think that creativity is just about being an artist, writer or musician you've misunderstood entirely...

Dan Pink wrote a great book called "A whole new Mind" which expands and builds upon the content of this video.
Concentration, re-invention and self discovery, not expansion is the long term solution to human sustainability.
    Inspirational lecture.

Higher trust enables individuals to collaborate much more efficiently and collaboration is key to creativity, as Dr. Florida pointed out. Trust, creativity, collaboration are all essential to create a brighter future. Unfortunately our religions, politicians and corporations provide large barriers that inhibit our collaboration, it's our job to find a way around these barriers or bring them down all together!..

You are right I am struggling now, but I see a path and it's lined with changes that will ROCK THE WORLD! Here me know, I profess I will be known. What I am going to is selfless and focuses on others. Massive amounts of money are coming but I am keeping very little and feeding and educating and giving homes to the homeless and under studied men and women. I have afforded a life of study and it's all coming together. I am going to make money meaningless and it's going to ROCK THE WORLD. Because it is so much about LOVE and less about GREED. Soon, you will see this start in Detroit, and the world will want to be like this, because Detroit will be the CITY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The crash in 1990 was much worse than 2009 as I remember. I actually lost a lot of money this year. In 2009, it was only a sharp drop on the stock market that you can hardly call a crash.

So long as we're trying to continue on with obsolete political & economic institutions, all the creativity in the world can't help us. We have all the technology we need *right now* to create abundance on this Earth. Our problem is that we're very badly organized ; our technology races ahead of our socioeconomic order. Jobs and growth are not the answer. We need an economic model where zero growth is OK, and where increasing unemployment does not imply increasing hardship.

  • @s02tube

it can make sense. if you invest in a company that made a sucesseful innovative leap, like new indie games, you did it because you hope that company will lead to another leap. Others investors will gain more trust in that company because someone already did, and they also may will try to find the next innovative leap in that same field. So the risk in the indie games decreases allowing new types of game to be commercialized in larger scale. this speech is a praise for intelectual property of all

To have more points of view on things. If you have more points of view or a more diverse look on something, you will appear to be more creative than someone who only has 1 point of view. A creative builder could be someone who has studied architecture from different countries, while a builder who has only studied American ways of building, may be seen as less creative.

there is no reason except the creed of greed and the force of ownership - why education -transportation - housing - medical care - food - clothing and all the basics of a good life - cant be made so abundant - to be free with automation and small amount of volunteer labor. - after that if we want to impose scarcity - labor and ownership on other things so be it - but hopefully we can create abundance for all of the things that really matter.

I think that the optimism is refreshing, but, the real innovation needs to be in the human heart and mind. Profit needs to be a secondary motive and at this time we as a species still lionize the uber wealthy. Life is better if you are wealthy and I do not know if that reality will ever change.

  • @Helle534
    @Helle534 12 ปีที่แล้ว

He talked about crashes 1929 and 2009 but apparently forgot that we had in 1990, which was much worse than 2009. Is there anyone who agrees with this?

  • @kaimina6

i believe, that the main problem is the motivation of people with power, it is true we have the technological advances to use our resources in a much better and efficient way but there is no economical interest to do that by the big companies and consuquently by the government. Therefore i think the solution is more mental and philosophical and not so much economic
    but maybe that's just me

Creativity and innovation come to fruition when there is opportunity.

When someone talks nonsense (hardly have time to explain why it is nonsense and you can find many clues in the comments already) in such circumstances that such a speech/talk can be accepted as a serious and factual... sometimes it is just too difficult for me to remain silent and, as you call it, mature. Not everything is a matter of opinion or view. Even the thoughts in RSA intro contrasts what follows later in the actual talk. And that is sadly not for the first time.
