Dad would let us chew pine sap for sore throat. One time he found a small teardrop if cedar sap, it was red and hard and hid it inside the soft pine sap. When you bit it is was very bitter. He thought that was funny.
The moss in western wa state grows all the way around the trees . You are about 4 hours north of me . If you ever get to wa state let me know would love to have lunch with you .

I make spruce pitch glue with spruce pitch ashes and moose poop. I've also chewed it for gum.
