But that's because women in Indian households treat themselves as slaves to in laws and husbands and kids... women should teach everyone their own roles and responsibilities around the household.... they live like rulers and we like slaves. it's our own mistakes.... there's no need to shout and scream... you know since the beginning of a typical indian arranged marriage set up gals start doing thankless odd jobs around the house to impress the in lawsn husbands... believe me... they don't care a pence.... you just end up pampering them... making em dependant.... before we know it... we're slaves.... so beware!

It has nothing to do with religion. I am not sure why you felt the need to say that. I am not Catholic, but practice the same in our household. My mother did this till she could and we all value it so much, we don't let her do anything now. It may come from a place of love and not always expected of women.

This is it. We don't have to show stories of violence or atrocities on women to tell that they're treated unequally. This very "normal" lifestyle where women lovingly do what they do for their family can bring out the way we're shaping our society. In most cases, these small sacrifices made by women (having cold tea, having food alone in the end) become routine for both the family members and the woman herself. But if some trigger comes to instigate a fight, these small things start looking so big and unjust. Which can lead to major differences also. In real life as well, woman often get used to this pattern and often tend to condition other women also to this. However, characters like her husband (can be anyone to change the rules, not necessarily husband) need to emerge to give women the respect they deserve.

I am very lucky. My Hubby Cooks for me. Infant we both share our duties. For Past 25 years , we have been together. Sharing our duties. My MIL never wanted to come n stay with us or help in anyway. So didn't bother me much.

I think my wife will be lucky because its my promise that I will not treat her as a woman or a wife but as the queen of my house. I promised myself that I will not be like those other husbands who just think their wife should only spend time in household chores and handling their kids. I will devote my time except my office hours in helping my wife( in every way) and caring for her. If you want to really spend time with someone when you are married spend it with your wife rather than with some friends or talking to other people or reading the newspapers or watching 📺,etc. Because she deserves more. Respect her as she is the only one who really cares for you when parents die. Also I want to tell that I am just 18 years and I am just waiting for the day when I meet my wife. That will be the happiest day of my life. I will do whatever I should to be the best husband for my wife in my whole family.

Isi soch ko to badalna hai meri pyari behen. Aur shuruat hum khud se kar sakte hain.....for others to follow suit. To karna humein ye hai k apne beto ko sikhana hai k wife k saath kesa bartao karein (in front of in-laws ho ya otherwise).
Sikhana ye hai k Prophet Muhammad (saws) ki life ko padho aur wesa amal karo.
This is something within our reach. We had no say when *we* were bahus but we will definitely have a say when we become saas.
In fact, mai to kehti hu k agar hum hamari saas k saamne khud saas ban jayein (Allah k fazl o karam se) to humein apni bahu k saath achhey sulook ka live example dena chahiye. Our actions will speak for us.
May Allah help us all and make it easy for us to follow the right path (the Islamic path) even if it requires defiance of our own families.
