Spoiler alert: I don't think Lefty was actually making coq au vin - will make real coq au vin on Basics soon!
Not the real deal??
🐔+🍷= coq au vin
"It's a fugazi" 💍😂
🍆 + 🇫🇮 = cock un Fin
Looks great
I don't get to watch many channels grow as when I subscribe they are usually already established. But watching you grow as a channel as well as others has been an honor. Your quality started out really freaking good yet you still found room to improve.
That means a lot to hear, thank you!!
Hey come on dude leave some of Babish’s heart for us to have
Same. I've been here since around 100K subscribers, and watching Babby hit the bigtime has been such a joy to watch.
^ When did weirdos start coming out of the woodwork with comments like this? This shtick is everywhere on youtube atm, anyone noticed? No one wrote youtube comments like this 5 years back.
@@invalidatemyass They absolutely did. Just usually more hidden in the comments.
I think we need to see how to make the pies in Sweeney Todd, they looked delicious...

Ah, College Inn. I seriously thought Lefty said "collagen". 😅
Wow wait hold on, is the name College Inn a pun? 🤯
@@ethanblackwood no, no. It's a chicken stock brand name.
If i had a dollar for every time he said 𝓚𝓸𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓼𝓪𝓵𝓽 i'd be rich
You would have enough to buy a box of kosher salt.
I want a dollar for every time Alton Brown has said kosher salt
@@SupremeM that's where the big money is.
My crappy phone made the letters boxes ;-;
And freshly ground pepper!
As the son of an Italian immigrant, this recipe and scene speaks so much to me. My dad would often try to create "wordly" foods, only to fall into Italian tropes ending up with what was sometimes an unintentional fusion, and often just an incorrectly named dish. Also, the confused idioms were a plenty in my household. My favourite: "That's so easy, like a cup of cake."
My hedgehog likes listening to your videos. He uncurls when he hears you!
When you said coq au vin I immediately thought it was about the dinner party from the inbetweeners
BABISH! Can you do a Studio Ghibli episode?
EDIT: GUYS HE LIKED IT, STUDIO GHIBLI EPISODE, HELL YEAH!
if there is a studio ghibli episode without the stuffed buns from spirited away I WILL DECLARE WAR SIRE !
That’d give a whole new meaning to the phrase “pigging out”.
we need a whole series about Ghibli food.
yasss i’d love to see breakfast from Howl’s moving castle. I know it was only eggs and bacon, but still every time I see it it makes me soo hungry..
The ramen from Ponyo always made me so hungry
I would love to see your interpretation of the lamb and dried plum stew from The Hunger Games. It isn't in the films, but it is mentioned multiple times in the books as Katniss's favorite dish of all time after she tries it in the Capitol. She might not have the best palate, growing up malnourished in post-apocalyptic Appalachia, but I think it would be really cool for you to attempt a Clean Plate Club version of this. Lamb and dried plum stew sounds... interesting.
Love this
he most likely won't because as you said it wasn't mentioned in the film and he only does food from films and shows
It's a common moroccan dish and it's delicious
Lamb with figs is amazing. I bet plums would be good too.
Omg YES. THIS PLEASE.
i’m curious what you can do with the sushi scene from “Isle of Dogs”
With out the poison.
William Azrai Holmes true haha
@@pablopumpkinsmangaclub9788 Gotta be accurate

My son wants to be a chef, so this was the first dish that he made for our family. He is 12. It turned out flipping amazing. He chose the right career goal.

Stop him, being a chef is a dogshit career.
Do you judge your son's life choices as right or wrong?
My favorite part is the fact that this dish is literally named "rooster in wine"
More like "wine rooster"
Gonna try this again. You should do the King-Size Ultra Krabby Supreme with the works, double batter fried, on a stick. Don’t forget the mayonnaise.
Yes please!

Look at them eating that garbage. It's disgusting.
dont forget the pickles either

@@idiotindustries never forgetti babish spaghetti.
YEEEESSSSS
Covered. King of the hill episode. Exact same recipe.
It literally says nothing about how the spaghetti is made though. The only thing I can think of would be canned spaghetti with hot dogs. Because you know, trailer park.
Babish, you should try making jelly donuts that look like Japanese rice balls, in honor of the infamous localization in the 4Kids dub of "Pokemon."
Wow, they go way too far with that... they once called a curry a “stew”... I’m fairly sure there’s a difference there..
To be fair, curry and stew are worlds closer than onigiri and jelly donuts.
Extrascript662
Many Curries, especially Japan’s favorite (coco curry), _are_ just a heavily spiced stew. They both benefit from low and slow cooking.
That reminds me of the time 4Kids swapped out the rice balls for cookies in One Piece.
Like, where's the substance in chocolate chip cookies? They're just sweet treats at the end of the day.
Fuck Pokemon
Fun fact, there is a related dish to cacciatore in France, though it also has mushrooms. Fittingly, it is called chasseur, which means hunter in French
Can you please make the giant pancakes from Uncle Buck? 🥞 😩
Gotta do the whole breakfast.
"He put ONIONS in the eggs!"
CollateralTechMisc even the toast that he couldn’t get in through the door haha
That would be a good one.
I mean, they’re in his book so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch
Hasn't he done this already? I know for sure it's in his cookbook because I have it.
I will never understand this premier thing. I’ll come back later.
I don't get it either. It annoys the hell out of me.
Me too, I think it makes sense for something like music, short films or something similar. But I really don't understand the use in normal regularly scheduled videos...
It’s for notification squad to have somewhere special to talk
College Inn! I didn't see the can in the clip too good, and I thought Pacino said a can of collagen, and I was like you can just buy collagen by the can???
The 'punch" part was spot on... love it...

I always have a hard time sleeping, but as of lately when i get in bed i put a playlist of your videos on and listen to ur very soothing voice until i pass out. idk what it is but its so calming to listen to you cook and explain your process. i also enjoy your videos when im awake, but your voice makes my anxiety go away for bed time 😊❤
I just made this, though I did saute the veggies before adding them to the liquid and used a pureed tomatoes and extra garlic, as well as having used a pack of just chicken thighs instead of a whole bird. Still, let me just state, for the record, it tastes amazing, and is hugely filling.
Love Donnie Brosco. Had it on VHS and watched it for years! A big favorite. Thanks for paying homage!
As a French girl, I confirm that you are saying "lardons" perfectly :)
Wanted to comment on that as well! Perfect pronounciation! :D
was going to make the same comment. refreshing after hearing so many english speakers completely butcher french ;)
Are you joking? Or is a France French thing? It's only at the third time I realized he was saying lardon as I was only hearing "ladon".
Babish loves the Coq
Mortal Conquest this is going to far now. But he must love the Coq to devote so much time and attention to it. What a lovely Coq.
It is indeed a magnificent coq.
Lol
You should do Benson’s chili from Regular Show.
He should make the Mississippi Queen :^)
I feel like he makes a regular show special for every million subscribers.
This channel has grown into such a fantastic channel many people say that binging with babish is just like every other cooking channel but it is so much more it is inspirational and amazing how there is so much dedication in the channel and how it gets you to go out there to try and cook different things while still making you chuckle.
Make the egg rolls the Parr family were eating from Incredibles 2
Don't forget to wash your hands like Dash!
make the boa buns from the that short movie before incredibles 2
Decides to cook coq au vin
Makes chicken cacciatore
Translates to Hunter's chicken
Wait. So it ends up turning into chicken chasseur without mushrooms?
Could you do grits? But like game changer babish grits. Just watched “My Cousin Vinny”
I was in Nashville recently and had some grits with cheese, green onion and bacon, and were somehow fluffy as hell. They were amazing
nah he's gotta make either Breakfast Lunch or Dinner
Not possible unless his stove defies the laws of physics.
Just no milk...that's cheating.
The one time Babish gets stingy with the salt is when the recipe specifically calls for lots
are ginger snips any different than ginger snaps?
They’re baby ginger snaps
Completely different. One is confectionery, the other a physical action.
Can you make cookies from Arthur? They add a ton of ingredients like peaches, oatmeal, strawberry, raisins, chocolate chips, and banana to a basic cookie recipe.
Man I did exactly how you instructed and my family loved it! BRAVO!
I love how you put the quotes with the coq au vin lol. I made the chef John version but now I wanna make this one

Can you make Khlav kalash on a stick and crab juice from The Simpsons?

Oi dalton... The chicken dish would need some SERIOUS editing. Like from the very start.

*Hey Babish!!,* You should make *Benson's Winning Chili* from the episode *Chili Cook Off* from *Regular Show*
I love your channel babish I hope you keep up the good work and have a great year
Loving this concept, and good choice too. Not many Donnie Brasco references going around these days, didnt expect it in a cooking recipe video :D
"as much as I actively try to fuck up this dish, it still came out pretty good. A testament to simplicity over intricacy"
love from Italy
May I say that Italy is a country of intricate simplicity and superb humility, a beautiful contradiction of a country on its own united. No amount of words can describe fully a country which is the best and the worst at the same time. Look at the Italian industry for example we have Fiat but also Ferrari. We have delicious dishes and insect larve cheese. We do everything at our best and worst. So unique yet so common. So classy yet so simple. So smooth and so rough. I may be wrong but let me be so sadly content about the commonly unique place that I had the honor and disgrace of being born into
And I thought throwing salt over your shoulder was supposed to stop bad luck.
🤣🤣🤣
The little pip sound in the music is the exact same as the metronome in Ableton live, so i keep thinking someone forgot to turn it off
good spot!
Best pick up used by a lady on me..."it feels like a coq au vin kind of night"
I tried this recipe for grins because I had the ingredients. Turned out pretty ok for a week night random dish. I added corn and okra because I had a little to much of the wine I used for the dish but turned out great. One of the many things I love about Babish is learn to play with recipes.
I also used fresh seasonings because somehow I feel like BWB is always watching me in the kitchen if I try to cut corners! Never stop the videos Andrew!
I gotta say the description piqued my interest, Mr Babish, so i just HAVE to ask now:
What characters do you guys use in Smash?
Shit, now *I'm* curious
He obviously mains Game & Watch
His favourite Assist is Chef Kawasaki
You should make the Mac and cheese omelet from America dad
This brings back memories this was my dad's favorite movie I've watched it so many times
Drinking game: binge watch binging with Babish and everytime he says something like "let the flavors know each other" you have to take a shot
Make the triple threat gourmet wing sauces from Regular Show
"Dry, full bodied red wine"
Okay, sounds -
"such as Burgundy or pinot noir"
...
ikr, typically you would go with a Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux
Welcome back to Binging with Babish where this week we're taking a look at the Cocoa Van
Thanks so much for making this. For the longest time I couldn't tell what the name of the dish he was cooking was from how he pronounced it. I actually had to look it up in the script for the movie. Also, I actually thought he was adding a can of "collagen" and I thought he meant gellatin or something.
Hey Babish, could you please make the Jelly Banana from Steins;Gate?
Justin Y. could he still eat it? he has da banana allergy
*ALREADY!?*
Ye gud idea my guy
My boi, how u do this?
It’s be a pretty terrible episode. All you have to do is microwave a bananana
This episode should’ve been name “Coq au Vin from The Inbetweeners”
Cock of what
Ciaran Brennan coq in the back of a van
Glodon Romsegg *you are grim mate*
Anyone got any lego left?
You should do Katsu Chicken (or I think they might just call it chicken cutlets?) from Narcos. Pretty easy but delicious recipe that I'm sure lots of people would appreciate knowing how to make. One of my favorite Netflix shows. It's the episode where the guy is happily showing off his discovery of the panko breadcrumbs, but they have to leave the house in a hurry with the chicken still frying in the pan.
I spent the outro watching the pot of pasta water waiting for it to boil, and just as it started to simmer, the video ends.
It's true; a watched pot never boils.
How about making a bronto burger from The Flintstones
If you’ve got a spare TARDIS or Bugatti with a flux capacitor sitting around for him to borrow, he could do it.😉
I was looking forward to watching you make a real Coq au Vin after...
I watched this movie recently and never appreciated how funny that scene was until watching the clip in the video
I hear Chicken Cacciatore, I know I have that damn Billy Joel song stuck in my head.
Glad I’m not the only one!
i remember mark sloan from greys anatomy making this and callie threw it away and he yelled MY COQ AU VIN! and its kinda perfect for this to show up now
Should have done Dennis's coq au vin from "The Gang Goes to Hell"
Never gets tired watching your vids cause it makes me hungry.
I didn't follow your recipe exactly, but this video definitely got me in the mood for chicken cacciatore, which I'm making as I type this.
the Broodwich please
YES!!!!
Babby, pinot noir is light - medium bodied.
You want zinfandel or merlot or syrah 🍷
almost every coq au vin recipe uses burgundy or pinot noir wine
You should do another series where you cook popular foods from a certain time period.
My mum made a real deal coq au vin once, was the nicest thing I've ever eaten. Ate the sauce as soup the next day.
Please make “Ed’s Sauce” from the movie Good Burger!
Can you make the Quail with Rose Sauce from Como Aqua Para Chocolate??
Thank you, Babish. I don't say it enough, but your videos always make me happy. It makes everything just a little easier.
Ladon, the actual ingredient that is a big dragon guarding a golden-apple tree.
I imagine an angry Al Pacino saying:
Al Pacino: EAT MY COC - Au vin!
Make a good burger with Ed’s sauce
And with a drink too!
Babish: Coq au Vin
Me: *Gesundheit*
Most canned College Inn broth is made in my hometown. My first college summer job was actually making sure that the broth had the right “punch” of salt and that it was the right color.
anyone else see “coq au vin” and think he was referencing the inbetweeners?
360p bwb here we go!
Seems like a side effect of the Premier function, so I'll be giving those a pass until it fully uploads going forward. It's up to 1080P now
i really feel Babish's videos are better 2019 and earlier.
2020 videos feel more professional like TV shows with a hint of "I can't do those"
"Dinner with Barbossa" from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
I just now realized the "College Inn" is a way to say collagen, which is the protein that gives broth its flavor.
I thought this is a brand new episode since he is coughing and talking about quarantine :D
Babish is like if vsauce split into different people based on skills and Babish is the cooking one.
Could you make the Pepperjack Turducken Slammer from Supernatural (Season 7 episode 9) 😂😂
