    Beautiful. This is one of the hymns I chose for my husbands funeral and it brings back so many memories.

    Very well played, with all the emotions registered through the music.Praise God.
    I love this hymn and played it with a tiny choir 2 years ago, during the funeral of my medical teacher,and with a short preceding introduction about the hymn..

    Beautiful! One of my favorite hymns, seldom heard today. The reed organ is still one of the most beautiful instruments on the planet and lends itself very well to sacred music. Thanks for posting and all that you do to keep this great sound alive!

    This is Psalter 55 in my hymn book we sing this in church quite often!! this is the first verse
    - The Lord my shepherd holds me within his tender care, and with his flock he folds me, no want shall find me there. In pastures green he feeds me, with plenty i am blest ;by quiet streams he leads me and makes me safley rest.
    based on psalm 23

    This hymn is new to me. The story of how you came to own this Berlin organ and how it has turned you into a great restorer and someone who shares via TH-cam is amazing. Thanks for sharing your talent.

      +Tommy Covington Thanks Tommy! I wouldn't go so far to claim to be a great restorer, but one who enjoys it at a level that isn't normal :)

    As printed in all (?) the hymnbooks we use in Britain, this hymn is very poorly harmonised, so it's good to hear your version, Rodney, which supports the melody better and avoids that "here-we-go-again" effect. All enhanced, as ever, by your imaginative use of the bellows and that magnificent Sub-Bass.

    I would love to play this on the keyboard but can only find the melody, not the chords.

      There are several different versions at hymnary.org/text/jerusalem_the_golden_with_milk_and_honey , at the bottom of that page. All the best!

      I have tried playing this in the first version with chords that appears (page 488), and need to transpose it as it is very high, but am confused about the key. I thought it was in key C but it contains note E (not E minor) so can't be in the key of C. Could you tell me what key it is in please?

    • @ReedOrgans
      @ReedOrgans  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it possible you downloaded an orchestral version? It is in the key C, this one is very close the the version that I played: hymnary.org/hymn/LUYH2013/page/531 - it starts and ends on C. Just don't click the "download" advertisements on that page, you can save the image or print the entire page.

    • @marilynhawkes
      @marilynhawkes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank, that's the one I have printed off and tried. I don't understand why it has chord E in it if its in the key of C.

    Ooooh so nice! I gotta tell you, that reed organ really sucks Ok, you KNEW that compliment was coming, didn't you? I can hear you groaning. (For readers who don't get it, American Reed organs work on a vacuum, they suck air through the reeds)

    • @ReedOrgans
      @ReedOrgans  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +clydesight No groans here, just a smile :) It's funny to think about it now because when I looked into this organ for the first time over 7 years ago, I was completely baffled as to why it was sucking the air in. I learned a little about them since then...
