    Damn Peter, you are an AWESOME MECHANIC!! You remind me of my dad who was mechanic for many years and he diagnosed problems just like you!! Very patient, but also very methodical in his approach to find the REAL ISSUE without incurring unnecessary additional cost!! This customer was really, really, lucky to find you! Good day, my friend from here in SATX

    These basic troubleshooting guides are needed these days. It’s just not taught anywhere anymore.
    The schools have almost all closed their auto shop courses. No basic mechanical skills are shown.
    It’s a good video. I hope more people watch it.

    Well done! I sure wish you were here in NC. It's so hard to find an independent technician that is thorough and reliable.

      Yeah I wish he was in VA!! I’ve got a couple great general mechanic shops, but no Toyota-specific mechanic that I can find. Guess I’m stickin with doin most myself and my local shop doin what I’m unable to do currently like tranny fluid in my 21 T4R TRD ORP.

    Of all of the fantastic videos this man has recorded, this one is up there with my favorites. Sure, he may have gotten "lucky" this time. But, a famous baseball executive named Branch Rickey stated that luck is the residue of design. Simply put, it means that success tends to follow for those who put in the time and effort to make themselves better at their jobs, irrespective of whatever natural talents one might possess. Peter is a credit to his profession; in addition to being a wonderful person, he has never ceased putting in the time and effort to be the best he could be. The same cannot be said for the mechanic(s) who gave up trying to find and properly diagnose the problem prior to Peter.

    Excellent video ! Thankyou. I'm not a qualified tech but I know the very basics. My mothers car had pressure building up in the cooling system. When the radiator cap was removed you could see small bubbles. I told this to a qualified tech who had "seen it all before" and refused to look at the vehicle and suggested that I sell it. He "knew" it was the head gasket. I, as a matter of trial and error, replaced the thermostat fixing the whole issue. If I had taken his advice I would have sold a car that needed 40 dollars in parts because of his wonderful "knowledge". cheers

    I prefer being lucky as well. My Hilux kept stalling intermittently and wouldn't restart. Replaced the igniter. Still stalled randomly. Replaced the coil because it was fried. Died again but that time, I lucked out and found the igniter and coil were only getting 6 volts. A new ignition switch fixed everything.

    Good afternoon sir Peter I have to say you video are very well done very professional but most importantly you’re very good at finding problems a
    solutions. I have a pre-used 2010 Prius and I recently change the hybrid battery and had it replaced with the refurbished it’s been over 4000 miles and I still have the code P0 A80. and cannot pass smog in California. I also have lights on my cluster the traction control ABS brake in the! Surrounded by a circle. I would really appreciate if you could give me some guidelines or I can just take my vehicle to you. Thanks Peter for all you do.

    could that have been the problem instead of a blown head gasket when they replaced head gasket twice?

    As a professional mechanic, why didn't you consider the 1st time that it could be the number one injector or the electrical connector? What exactly did you do the first time the owner brought the vehicle to you, and you charged him, or her for one hour of diagnosis?

    • @salvatoreluciano6741
      @salvatoreluciano6741 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently he says there was no concern when it first came in and he charged 1hr diag to run some test (check for a head gasket leak?). Kind of strange there wouldn't be any DTC's he could reference unless the customer or the other tech cleared them. This repair seems strange to me. Why would he notice the faulty connection only AFTER swapping the injectors? Also if the misfire could easily be replicated, why wouldn't he just slap the plenum back on (which takes less than a minute) and get a video of it. Typically, there would be signs of arching on the pins from a bad connection, especially since the misfire has been happening for so long. To me it looks like someone probed the pins instead of back probing, and damaged them. Also, initially he stated that customer said it would misfire after a cold soak/start, not common with bad pin connectors. This whole diag seems off.
