    100% a musket ball, if you ever do come to the UK, bring your 'tector and book on an organised dig. It'll cost about £20 and you could get lucky and find literally anything, I've found a 5000 year old Bronze age axe head in Staffordshire, a 500 year old canon ball fired at a church during the Reformation in Warwickshire, literally hundreds of medieval copper and silver coins as well as a couple of gold ones and everything inbetween, you'd be in heaven over here.

      How do you get into this I got given a metal detector not really used it before but I do know if you want to find something decent there's no point in just looking anywhere

      It is important, as I'm sure you will know, to report your finds to the Portable Antiquities Scheme, so your fabulous finds can be really part of our historical record.

    "The Detectorists":- from the BBC. A really amusing couple of series about some Metal Detectorists and their friends in a small East England village. If you can find it, i highly recommend you and your father watch it- it's really cleverly written British humour!😊👍

    Looks like you have a musket ball, it's been dropped not fired (if it was fired, being lead it would have squashed), the flattened area is where it was cut off the molding sprue. Glad to see you are finding the same sort of things that I do in the UK, ring-pulls, drink cans!

    • @charlesfritz7131
      @charlesfritz7131 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It would of only squashed if it hit something . It would have grooving from barrel rifling or have markings from the patching if fired from a smoothbore.

    Very cool to have your own property to search on, will be interesting to see what more cool stuff you uncover. Our finds here in the UK are a little older. lol. The oldest coin I've found is a 1797 Cartwheel penny, which is quite new compared to what most people find. The oldest thing I've ever found was a flint blade. I sent it in for the experts to look at and it's a blade that dates to the Mesolithic era, some 8-10,000 years old. :)

    Nice video, thanx, As someone else said, there is a great and really funny British TV series called "Detectorists", stars Toby Jones (The voice of Dobby and Star of many films including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the Hunger Games) and McKensie Crook (from the Office and Pirates of the Caribean). It should be on TH-cam, etc, if you are "into" metal detecting, it is a must see, you will love it......

  • @Nobby76
    @Nobby76 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Looks like it could be a musket ball, the other things i thought it might be. A ball bearing from a bearing set (once they go wonky they can start throwing the balls out quite often) or the other thing i thought it could be, but i dont know if you even get them over there is a fishing weight. Over heer in the uk we get little metal ball weights, with a split down most of it middle, and you just pinch it onto the line. Musket ball would be the cooler of the 3 though :)

    Where i live in the uk we have an old rifle range that was used by the military around the time of the Napoleonic wars. We find musket balls by the handful up there and some what i can only describe as lead slugs, they're hexagonal and about an inch long so god knows what fired those 😂

    Pistol ball, too small for a musket. Although they did have small calibres, it's pretty uncommon. I literally have buckets of musket balls and other projectiles as I live on an old firing range which was used from the early 1700s till the 1850s, haven't found a cannonball yet, but there's plenty of documentation that cannonballs flew over the range 😂

You should look up the laws about it in Irelan very annoying. I live around the battle of the boyne there be some amazing finds but even if you found something in your garden you have to hand it over
