The answer to Missy is in the previous finale when he said to Clara 'Do you think betraying me would make a difference.'

Doctor Who is a non-discriminatory television series. At some point it will cover everybody’s phobias. :)
If you don’t post another Doctor Who reaction before hand, I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and wish you all the very best for the year ahead!

Yes, that is Peter playing. He was in band with Craig Ferguson in his late teens.

The Hand Mines are one of my favourite ideas from this show. They only use it in brief shots, but it's immediately creepy and you get their danger right away. And it's named for a pun on land mines. It's a wonder why no one and no other show has ever thought of this before.
The mix of old and new technology, and the creepy Hand Mines, shows just how desperate the war between the Thals and the Kaleds became. They used up all their resources fighting a pointless war, and you can start to understand how insane they all became and ended up creating and being Daleks.

Well, glad we got a full comprehensive explanation of why The Master keeps coming back from the dead with such apparent ease! And playing on phobias - Moffat is good at making you scared of the everyday - cracks, shadows, etc., but generally Doctor Who isn’t afraid to exploit your phobias. “Second, spiders….” Oh dear.

Nice. Getting to see you react to this is like getting an early Christmas present. There is a minisode prologue to this story, (The Doctor's Meditation) that's worth checking out.

It's pronounced Dav-Ross. But yeah he is a long time Classic Who villain and is the creator of the Daleks. With regards to The Master he/she always shows up when you least expect it sort of similar to the villain Murdoch from MacGyver always surviving without explanation. Peter Capaldi was in a rock band in the early 80s before he became an actor so he uses his real life guitar skills in this. I don't know if this is considered a spoiler if it is I apologise I'll type this bit out this is the last time we see this version of the sonic screwdriver that's been around since Matt Smith.

Series 9 is where capaldi hits his stride, there's an odd dud but it's a strong season and I think the softer episodes are more issues with the material rather than the acting.

    • @chiffon788
      @chiffon788 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

And even the dud is thematically appropriate and is a new genre for the show. It does well enough for the only stand-alone story.

The mix of high tech and bow and arrows was a giveaway to classic Dr who fans... in davros first story, genesis of the daleks, it was explained that the war between the thals and kaleds (soon to be daleks) on their planet (skaro) went on for so long it became a war of attrition and they just used what was available...sticks and stones, bows and arrows, together with laser weapons...

    • @FourthWallReactions

Glad you are enjoying capaldi's run so far. He's my fave doctor from modern who, however series 9 is one of my least fave series ever, but i hope you enjoy it. Some classic doctors audio clips used there from old dalek stories, all lines from the doctor speaking to davros too:
'If you had created a virus in you're laboratory...' (4th doctor)
'I'm not here as you're prisoner davros!' (5th doctor)
'Unimaginable power. unlimited rice pudding, etcetera..' (7th doctor)
'Everything we saw, everything we lost...' (10th doctor)
'But did you bother to tell anyone they might be eating there own relatives?!' (6th doctor)
then of course another 4th doctor line about killing a child you know will grow up evil, very cleverly used to twine into this story

Never assume that The TARDIS won’t be removed from the equation for a long duration or that a death won’t be permanent.
The Doctor spent most of the early 1970’s trapped on earth without the ability to leave and there have been several deaths of companions over the years. My favourite is Adric, who was so annoying he deserved to be blown up by Cybermen.
Yes, a lot of the time these things don’t stick. However, you should remember that sometimes they do. Sometimes The TARDIS is gone and takes whole seasons to come back.
