So many turn 1 Wayfarers Bauble’s I feel like I’m watching the commanders quarters, lol
Wasn't it Captain Quarters?
First of there's wayfarer's bauble
No one else is bothered by tapping that fetch for Mana?
@@johnweinhandl8890 Urborg was out.
@@faerie7dragon turns out I'm bad at magic
Honestly, Seb won in a way I think Bolas would be proud of. Minimum effort in for the maximum effectiveness.
Work smarter, not harder
Cheat by ignoring how the oppressor works.
@@thengine7 What? The Callous Oppressor has no bearing on the way the match was won. Slave of Bolas was cast targeting Greven after not untapping Callous Oppressor as was intended. No cheating was done.
The ultimate commander strat, let everyone die and run out of resources, than pick off the straggler.
The straggler is the one that ends up winning in spats like that in my experience.
Two Wayfarer's Baubles on turn 1... MITCH INTENSIFIES
He would be really proud
LOVE to see someone using Callous Oppressor ...... also "Oona's Blaggard" lol
That is a valid way to say "blackguard"
Slang, rolls off the tongue easier
It's always interesting seeing a bolas deck win in such a bolas like style
Miguel was not happy to lose haha. I dislike when people through my cards (even if it s tokens ^^)
Nice content as usual! Greven is a pretty sweet commander
@@traycarrot he seemed to be stating his opinion pretty calmly, no need to call someone else a baby lol
I do love seeing Greven decks that aren't mine. Great game as always! 😁
3:13 Callus oppressor lets an opponent chose the creature type. To be fair, having rouge or human being declared (which I suspect were the most likely picks at this table) instead of elf wouldn't have made a real difference in the game, but the card is designed with an opponent picking the creature type in mind. Just having one or two immune creatures can change the way that Seb plays with it and the way the rest of the table plays around it.
Surprised nobody else mentioned this
The first time Greven was played he already had haste from Chainer. As a Greven player I am sad
Yep, was confused why he needed haste^2 lol
Btw at 6:00 greven already had haste thx to chainer
the controller of the callous oppressor doesn't choose the creature type
I've seen a lot of Greven matches on this channel and in real life, but i must say that this is by far the strongest showing of a Greven deck I've seen.
Greven tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it didn't even matter
Miguel was so salty, I hate when people throw other peoples cards back to them, even if its a token.
Yeah, I would not lend my tokens to that guy again. An unsleeved token is likely to get damaged by a little toss. Not like the token is worth much, but it's still Max's property that he kindly lended to Miguel. Rude and childish behaviour.
I think it's the same Miguel from the other videos where he's painted a picture of himself as a colossus jerk. :(
@@Spetaelsk His body language all along the footage was kinda agressive too imo...
He’s easily the biggest jerk in Muddstah’s videos
When Max plays Greven the first time, he doesn’t actually need to use the battlements to give him haste. Chainer gives Greven haste because he cast him from the command zone 😊
Here's my story for killing a player with their own Commander. I was playing Zirda and had enough mana to active Captivating Crew 8 times to steal Krenko, Mob Boss (his commander), Purphoros, plus 6 additional Goblins and then tap Krenko to make 7 of my own goblins and deal 14 damage to the other remaining two players with Purphoros triggers, which was enough to take them both out.
Anyone saying Seb doesn't deserve the win is dumb. Yes, as a Greven player myself, it makes me sad to see the deck fail to kill all three. But Max also played a bit fast and loose with his life without a way to gain it back or chain multiple combats. He might have those in his deck but he made the choice to go in without the backup to bring it home, Seb played properly and even did it with some flair.
He didn't deserve the win because he purposefully ignored how oppressor works. An opponent names the creature type.
I don't disagree, but Im not a fan of kingmakers.
Correct me if I’m wrong
But shouldn’t Greven have haste because of Chainer’s second ability grants creatures who weren’t cast from the hand haste.
Let me know It could be my misunderstanding :p thanks @5:43
That's a pretty legit win from Seb as far as I'm concerned. Also, I wanted to say Blaggard.
That's why I dont flip my Bolas often. Having it get blown up after paying 7 to it is just the worst.
This game is why I play cards that give Greven lifelink in my Greven deck.
Meh lich effects are far better I use them in my Vilis deck because who wants to be responsible about life totals.
MAX: 3:29 *reads* , Neat card.
MAX: 10:23 *Oof intensifies*
Joey's custome token might be the best one I've ever seen.
Greven when he's on is a thing to behold
The way Max tapped Urborg on turn 1 gave me such an oddly happy feeling
I thought you can't tap Urborg for mana? I thought its purpose was just to make all your lands swamps?
@@Exterlite it says ALL lands are swamps, including itself so it taps for black
@@aidanhavey2368 interesting, yeah I looked it up and its a very interesting land. Even colorless at that.
Judge: Am I the only one to realise that Max has been using a bloody mire as a land card and not a fetch 2:25
Urborg...it's a swamp
I know it probably wouldn't have made a huge difference to the game but as an avid rakdos Chainer player, he does give himself haste when casted from the command zone! 😄
These decks were pretty new when I filmed it. I'm going to say it was probably from not having used them before.
Hi! Nice video! Would it be possible to get the deck list of Rankle? :D
Seb already won with that playmat 🎉
So. I'm not a native English speaker, but isn't Oonas Blackguard pronounced differently?
Also: Did Seb choose Elf by himself for the Callous Oppresor? It says an opponent chooses.
Yeah the way he pronounces it was making me cry inside lol I think it’s one of his witty jokes
It’s pronounced how it looks. Black guard. I think he’s just saying it weird here like some sayings in MTG are said incorrectly to be funny.
I know in the game Hades, the champion of Elysium likes to say blackguard like 'blaggart'
@@PlutoDarknight no, there Theseus means that. Blaggard is a really old insult to describe someone as unprincipled/ unworthy. He is not calling Zagreus a black guard, he is insulting them.
Don't feel bad about missing that one, very few people know, lot of friends of mine irl messed that up too lol
He’s actually pronouncing it correctly. English is just dumb.
Man you good? You sound dead inside. But i guess covid is a thing so yeah, stay strong. Love the content
Might have been an early morning recording. I'm great!
I would love to see that Rankle Decklist. Is there anyway I can find it?
6:53
You cannot do that. When you put Rankle trigger on the stack, you have to announce all chosen modes. So, you can't wait to see what would be discarded to Oona's Blackguard trigger before choosing modes for Rankle's one.
Keep in mind that Muddstah is simply narrating what happens as it happens, not necessarily how a player declares/chooses/orders things how they need to be in game.
This is an issue with my narration. Miguel picked all of the modes on the trigger at once.
This Greven Deck was sweet! The Bolas Player had a sweet win. Always fun to kill someone with his or her own Commander xD
Now THAT'S how you Greven!
Burn up quickly but take them down with you!
Oona’s blagurd... nice 👍 (no hate love the vids)
Do you guys post your lists anywhere?
How do you get the camera over the table?
Very unexpected but sweet victory!
are there decklists for the greven and rankle decks?
Is the greven decklist available somewhere?
Oh snap, my favorite strategy. Why use your own creatures when you can kill people with their own
oh i love greven its such a cool deck you should rebuild it orat least try and find the deck list
I am sorry but I watched Andrew play this deck...he and Greven are not a match x3 He played some really weird cards and had no idea of how to pilot the deck, I don't foresee him trying to fix that.
Hi Mudstah! I just pulled an Esika, and I can’t decide what to build around her! I was thinking maybe having tribal, but that’s just a thought, I would a appreciate any ideas anyone has, thanks!
God Tribal? She is a god and her flip side does work with all of them. Slap in a world tree for even more jank
@@hobocrab I would love to do that, but i currently only own like 4 gods i think, and im trying to not spend a lot on this deck. Thanks though!
Ill probably throw them in!
Why didn't Miguel block with the zombie on turn 6? That would have kept him alive. Did I miss something that makes him unblockable?
Did he have and activate Rouge's Passage and I missed the announcement?
@@jeffrhall9219 He has Menace. He only has one token.
Max made the cardinal sin of Greven; going aggro without lifelink.
Aww yeah I see papa Greven and I click. Viva la goblin gang baybee
Didn't chainer give greven haste?
Great game!
Can we get Joey's list?
Another win for the Dragon team
Does anybody know where I would be able to find Joey’s mat?
I think InkedPlaymats.
It's not being sold anymore. It was originally on InkedGaming, but it has been discontinued for a while. I've spent a long time searching for one for myself haha, no luck so far.
You must get some flavor bonus points if you kill someone with their own commander using Slave of Bolas in your Bolas EDH deck.
Big time imo!
The moment Max took out Miguel. I cheered for him so hard. Thank you Max for taking out the annoying player. Also, max drew so many cards and no instant speed lifelink, Essence harvest or other shenanigans?
Gonna have to throw in my copy of Chainer for extra recursion
All those baubles...
Get a load of all these sonsa'Mitches.
Callous oppressor is an opponent chooses, not the controller
That was a mistake on narration's part. Sorry!
So, once Rankle's modes are chosen, there cannot be any reaction. Seb shouldn't have been able to swipe the Faerie with the knowledge the the sacrifice option was chosen. All responses need to happen PRIOR to modal choice.
Are you sure? Just like spells with mode choices you choose them when you cast the spell, then everyone gets a chance to respond. Wouldn't this work the same way but instead of a spell it's a triggered ability?
@@salvatorestabile5547 that's the way it works on arena.
That's wrong. Like casting a spell, you pick the modes when it's put on the stack. Arena doesn't give players priority at a lot of times when they technically should get it, unless they're in full control mode.
700.2b. The controller of a modal triggered ability chooses the mode(s) as part of putting that ability on the stack...
as a Greven user, he can have its moments. Not the best but if you let your guard down he can fuck you up. That deck look almost like mine
Max was tapping Bloodstained Myre for mana?
Urborg was out
@@MTGMuddstah got it. Must've missed that.
A very bolas way to win indeed.
Greven!!! Hope he wins ( :
Max never actually cracked and searched with Bloodstained Mire.
Urborg lets it tap for mana
Screw it why not. Calling second as of posting.
Of course Nicol Bolas deserved the win, the entire thing was his plan anyway!
Always the God-Pharoah's plan.
I can see why this one was a backlog game, the voltron deck kingmade the bolas vorthos deck, if he hadn't have killed the rankle player the game would've been more fun.
Callous Oppressor's exception is chosen by an opponent, it was from a tribal block so it was supposed to let your opponent give protection for their tribe.
Nice job pronouncing Blackguard correctly btw.
Ah, that's probably my mistake then. The game was filmed in a very loud store, so I thought I heard one thing.
Sucks that the ravager is so expensive.
Kinda figured bolas would win
Rankle has come to Prankle
B L A G U R D
I mean, that was the most Nicol Bolas win possible. Act like you have nothing the entire game, let your opponents weaken themselves, then use the most ironic means possible to finish off your opponent.
Yikes. Miguel was a salt pile and seb was manhandling other peoples cards like they were his...
Your opponents choose the creature type woth callous oppressor
I wanna build Azusa but I’m clueless
you basically want to build your deck find ways to set up a fetch + crucible/ramunap to ramp and then big mana plays, either land fall stuff or big eldrazis.
I hate players like Miguel. Getting super salty when they lose. If you can't handle someone else's deck going off on you, don't play Magic.
Cool
Today I learned how to pronounce "Blackguard"
Blaggard
Yeah, some bad decisions in that one.
Guess I missed the giveaway. Rats
Ermah Blaggerd
At 7:11 Seb can't make this.
You can only respond to Rankle Trigger before the modes are choosen
The issue is with narration, not the play. I tried to summarize it and it was not good.
@@MTGMuddstah oh that was the case, then.
No worries man, thx for doing the narration at all, really liked the game and love the channel :>
@@fel293 S'all good! Glad it made sense.
That's wrong.
700.2b. The controller of a modal triggered ability chooses the mode(s) as part of putting that ability on the stack...
*spoiler alert* The Bolas player doing Bolas things
Greven are amazing
Hey handsome (again)

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
You should look up Tom Scott's video if you don't understand why this is.
I dont like miguel....
Azusa is so scary
....
So Callous Oppressor wins the game by a big cheat count lol. An opponent needs to choose a creature type.
Don't feel bad for Joey. His deck is an Eldrazi deck with a land tripler at the helm. He deserved to get lazer focused.
I wanna build Azusa but I’m clueless
So don't use Tireless Tracker...
BAHDUNTS
It's really easy. I built it into a green stompy that didn't even have a land focus.
