      @@CraftingWithTopazI think they are trying to recite the phrase “guiding others to a treasure that you yourself cannot possess”. An example of this phrase is someone who is depressed and doesn’t feel “happy” trying to make their friends laugh and make them happy, or a doctor who doesn’t take care of themselves at all who is a doctor because they want to take care of others but they themself do not value self-care. They’re trying to say that you went from not being able to posses that treasure yourself with your old doctor who did not care, to a new doctor who let you vent about your health. It’s a weird situation to apply that phrase, though, as it’s more about the different mindset of the two doctors rather than you.

    • @CraftingWithTopaz
      @CraftingWithTopaz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @SamRK-1000 Yeah, after your explanation, I'm not sure what his reply had to do with my experience. It wasn't just venting, it was having to advocate for myself so hard when I knew something was wrong, and the first doctor said, "You're young" and used that excuse to constantly dismiss me.

People aren’t just values and numbers on a chart. We are all unique and our healthcare should be tailored to those uniqueness. In fact, I was a 37 year old colon cancer patient at one time. An age where such a cancer is rarely seen. Now I’m cancer free thanks to surgical intervention and regular colonoscopies!

      A nice 20-45-minute nap or rest in a comfortable and dimly lit place. It can really recharge you to help finish the day.

    Dr Mike, I have an issue with this new wave of Doctors that don’t want to see a patient in person. My mom was having lung/breathing problems and she wanted to see the specialist in person, but the specialist was like no, I want to do virtual. My mom is old school and she didn’t feel comfortable with doing a virtual consultation, but she felt she had no choice. Luckily a nurse told my mom she doesn’t have to do what the doctor says, and if she wants to be seen in person then the doctor has no choice but to see you in person. This was Kelsey Seybold Clinic in TX. I just feel like for most conditions, it’s better to be seen in person, and no doctor should pressure or shame a patient for wanting that.

    Wow!! I live in Spain and it surprise me a lot how the health system works in the U.S. Here every patient has at least 10-15 minutes with their doctors and they feel listened by them. A huge different is that in Spain healthcare is free, we all pay taxes and if you broke a leg or have an anxiety attack or whatever happens to you, you can go to the hospital and you don't have to worry about the amount of money that you have

    The best way to ‘beat’ hangovers in my personal experience (someone who has had severe hangovers even from very light drinking) is to first prevent it by eating lots of vegetables with anti-inflammatory properties on a daily basis atleast a couple weeks before you start drinking hard. Second would be to drink clear liquors , keep the sugar to a minimum , and avoid dark liquors or mixing. But loading up on a healthy anti inflammatory vegetable rich diet for awhile beforehand seems to help the most.

    Just stumbled across this and I gotta say that last one from the physician hit the nail on the head.
    I recently had Cushing's disease, as a result I developed osteoporosis which in turn resulted in breaking my back from t4 to l3 and my killing my hips from avascular necrosis.
    I never really was one to go to the dr so during my treatment my dr.'s would regularly spend upwards of 30 to 40 minutes with me, until I understood what was going on or they understood what I was trying to explain how I felt. So I was kinda shocked to find out that I'm just blessed and lucky I got such great dr.'s.
    I couldn't imagine going through something like that and not having the person treating me not taking the time needed.

    I am in a smaller town near Houston, TX and have a wonderful PCP that takes all the time I need to go over everything. I have quite a few problems so face to face time with her can be up to 30-45mins. This PCP is part of a system (UT Physicians), and it's crazy to me how much time she is able to give. I am used to military healthcare and large city universal care in San Antonio. It really does depend on where you live and how many patients are being seen in a place. I think we stretch the limits of patient capacity at pretty much all big city hospital systems.

    While I’m only an exercise physiologist, I work in cardiac rehab and take a lot of pride in having the luxury of up to an hour with patients at an intake meeting to discuss risk factors for cardiovascular disease. I don’t see how it’s possible to properly treat cardiovascular disease in a 15 min appointment for most patients at their doctors appointments. Sometimes I wish I could go back to school to move higher up in health care, but I risk losing the relationships and care I’m able to offer now. I couldn’t imagine only having a few moments with a patient to try and treat their extremely complex heart disease. Patients deserve better!

He'll answer any questions I have to the best of his knowledge. During my last visit I asked him about altitude sickness because I had met some ladies during one of hikes out in Palo Duro Canyon who asked if I wanted to join them on a hiking trip to Kilimanjaro. He answered my question and then proceeded to tell me how a colleague lost his nose and fingers while climbing Everest...

    As a younger person with a very interesting medical history, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve plainly walked out of a doctors office because I felt dismissed or belittled or uncomfortable. Thankfully I’m finding better doctors that I’m comfortable with- doctors that will actually listen to me. I had one doctor that I asked for a vitamin D check in addition to regular blood work at an annual exam and explained that it had been low in the past and I felt the symptoms of it. He blew me off because “we live in the south and there’s too much sunlight” for me to have low vitamin D. Guess what? Two months later my new doc listened and ordered the test. I’m now on supplements because I was right. So infuriating!

    So helium's lower density would make waves of voice travel SLOWER into gas, resulting in shorter wavelengths hitting the ear, stimulating "higher pitch" region of nerves within our cochlea.
